Download or read book Metabolic Pathways of Agrochemicals Insecticides and fungicides written by Terence Robert Roberts and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 1998 with total page 1506 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This important publication provides a comprehensive summary of data and information on the metabolism and chemical degradation of agrochemicals in soils, plants and animals. Part 1, Herbicides and Plant Growth Regulators, and Part 2, Insecticides and Fungicides, together provide a major bibliography, as each entry is fully referenced. Contents include metabolic products, pathways and mechanisms, together with useful details on physico-chemical properties and mode of action. Both parts are organised by class of chemical for easy reference. There are separate entries for each pesticide, covering most commercially available chemicals in use today. In addition, an overview of the metabolism of each major class provides the reader with an informed summary of key similarities and significant differences between individual chemicals. Information is based primarily on literature from the past 40 years of research, together with some important, previously unpublished work provided by the agrochemical companies. Presented in a systematic, easy-to-read style, with extensive indexing to facilitate the rapid location of required information and the comparison of related compounds, Metabolic Pathways of Agrochemicals is an invaluable reference for chemists, biochemists and biologists working in the discovery, development and registration of agrochemicals, as well as scientists in related areas such as design and mode of action of pharmaceuticals.

Download or read book HazMat Data written by Richard P. Pohanish and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2005-02-18 with total page 1311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The HazMat Data, 2nd Edition provides a detailed reference for emergency responders and people who transport chemicals. Considering the events of September 11, the book is especially oriented toward first responder and emergency management personnel. Additions to this new Second Edition include Spanish language synonyms for all entries, and an increased overall number of synonyms. New to this edition is information on chemical warfare (CW) agents and Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD)-nerve gasses, blister agents/vesicants, "blood agents," choking/pulmonary agents, and crowd-control agents (tear gasses, pepper sprays, etc.)-that might be used as weapons of terrorism. It clearly explains symptoms of exposure and appropriate treatment for the exposure when available, and describes what to do in an emergency situation. The book also gives the NFPA hazard classifications, as well as chemical hazard class information. Newly updated, The HazMat Data, 2nd Editio provides a comprehensive, up-to-date summary of this vital information.
Download or read book Qualitative Organic Microanalysis written by Frank Schneider and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 550 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The most important task of the analytical chemist, aside from the acquisition of experimental data, is the coordination and interpretation of such data in terms of the qualitative and quantitative composition of the test substance. As in the old tale of the blind men and the elephant, a single observation or test, not considered in conjunction with others, may lead to entirely erroneous conclusions. On the other hand, mere in crease in the number of such tests, without regard to their need or to their relationship to each other, also may not suffice for drawing the correct inferences from the experimental evidence. The deductive reasoning which is usually associated with the analy tical chemist finds its greatest opportunity for application in the problems of cognition and recognition of carbon compounds. Since a rigid scheme of procedure tends to produce a corresponding rigidity of thought, the intent of the present book is to outline approaches which will minimize the chances of misinterpretation without restricting the analytical chemist in his choice of tests. The selection of subsequent tests or reactions should be governed by the results of the preceding ones rather than by an arbi trary list. The relationships of the various approaches (and the information derived from each) to the composition and constitution of the test sub stance are brought out in the discussion with the hope that they may serve as guide lines for such selection.
