Book Methods for Assessing the Robustness Properties of a Linear Multivariable Feedback Design

Download or read book Methods for Assessing the Robustness Properties of a Linear Multivariable Feedback Design written by Ian Postlethwaite and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On completing the design of a multivariable feedback system it is always desirable to be able to predict that under certain changes the system will remain stable. In these notes some methods are described for determining the robustness properties of a multivariable feedback system under (1) simultaneous variation of sensor (or actuator) gains; (2) simultaneous nonlinear perturbations of loop gains; and (3) plant parameter uncertainty. Book Robust and Insensitive Design of Multivariable Feedback Systems Multimodel Design

Download or read book Robust and Insensitive Design of Multivariable Feedback Systems Multimodel Design written by Irmfried Hartmann and published by Vieweg+teubner Verlag. This book was released on 1986 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The object of this monograph is to present some optimal design methods in a certain sense for obtaining linear multivariable feedback systems such that they become insensitive or robust properties. The treatment is mainly confined to linear time invariant discrete systems with the exception of the sections 3.1 and 3.3 in which it was used linear time-invariant conti nuous systems. Sensitivity and robust methods for multivariable feedback systems have been extensively studied about the last decade and the successful development has led to a much better under standing of the performance of insensitive and robust proce dures. The contribution of this monograph is an improved beha viour of the feedback systems under the influence of distur bance, parameter variations and/or nonlinear effects with new design methods. Furthermore, in chapter 3 the reader finds improved necessary and sufficient conditions for robust stabi lity of the closed-loop system. The authors would like to express their thanks to Mrs. Regina Hade, who typed with great patience our manuscript and Mrs. Monika Thieke who drew the figures and symbols very careful.

Book Multivariable Feedback Control

Download or read book Multivariable Feedback Control written by Sigurd Skogestad and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2005-11-04 with total page 594 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Multivariable Feedback Control: Analysis and Design, Second Edition presents a rigorous, yet easily readable, introduction to the analysis and design of robust multivariable control systems. Focusing on practical feedback control and not on system theory in general, this book provides the reader with insights into the opportunities and limitations of feedback control. Taking into account the latest developments in the field, this fully revised and updated second edition: * features a new chapter devoted to the use of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs); * presents current results on fundamental performance limitations introduced by RHP-poles and RHP-zeros; * introduces updated material on the selection of controlled variables and self-optimizing control; * provides simple IMC tuning rules for PID control; * covers additional material including unstable plants, the feedback amplifier, the lower gain margin and a clear strategy for incorporating integral action into LQG control; * includes numerous worked examples, exercises and case studies, which make frequent use of Matlab and the new Robust Control toolbox. Multivariable Feedback Control: Analysis and Design, Second Edition is an excellent resource for advanced undergraduate and graduate courses studying multivariable control. It is also an invaluable tool for engineers who want to understand multivariable control, its limitations, and how it can be applied in practice. The analysis techniques and the material on control structure design should prove very useful in the new emerging area of systems biology. Reviews of the first edition: "Being rich in insights and practical tips on controller design, the book should also prove to be very beneficial to industrial control engineers, both as a reference book and as an educational tool." Applied Mechanics Reviews "In summary, this book can be strongly recommended not only as a basic text in multivariable control techniques for graduate and undergraduate students, but also as a valuable source of information for control engineers." International Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing

Book Frequency Domain Properties of Scalar and Multivariable Feedback Systems

Download or read book Frequency Domain Properties of Scalar and Multivariable Feedback Systems written by James S. Freudenberg and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-03-12 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this monograph is to present recent results concerning frequency response properties of linear feedback systems. The basic theme is to develop extensions of classical feedback theory from scalar to multivariable systems, and the obstacle is the fact that multivariable systems may possess properties having no scalar analogue. The monograph contains sections reviewing ideas from classical control theory that are extended to multivariable systems, a summary of work we have done on design limitation in scalar systems, and a review of some previous work on extending classical ideas to a multivariable setting. The bulk of the monograph develops analysis methods with which to study properties of multivariable systems having no scalar analogue. Although the monograph does contain expository material, its primary character is that of a research monograph, and its primary audience researchers in the field of linear multivariable control. Its contents should be accessible to a first year graduate student with a good knowledge of classical feedback theory.

Book Linear Feedback Control

Download or read book Linear Feedback Control written by Dingyu Xue and published by SIAM. This book was released on 2007-01-01 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses analysis and design techniques for linear feedback control systems using MATLAB® software. By reducing the mathematics, increasing MATLAB working examples, and inserting short scripts and plots within the text, the authors have created a resource suitable for almost any type of user. The book begins with a summary of the properties of linear systems and addresses modeling and model reduction issues. In the subsequent chapters on analysis, the authors introduce time domain, complex plane, and frequency domain techniques. Their coverage of design includes discussions on model-based controller designs, PID controllers, and robust control designs. A unique aspect of the book is its inclusion of a chapter on fractional-order controllers, which are useful in control engineering practice.
