Book Aircraft Aerodynamic Parameter Estimation from Flight Data Using Neural Partial Differentiation

Download or read book Aircraft Aerodynamic Parameter Estimation from Flight Data Using Neural Partial Differentiation written by Majeed Mohamed and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-02-23 with total page 66 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents neural partial differentiation as an estimation algorithm for extracting aerodynamic derivatives from flight data. It discusses neural modeling of the aircraft system. The neural partial differentiation approach discussed in the book helps estimate parameters with their statistical information from the noisy data. Moreover, this method avoids the need for prior information about the aircraft model parameters. The objective of the book is to extend the use of the neural partial differentiation method to the multi-input multi-output aircraft system for the online estimation of aircraft parameters from an established neural model. This approach will be relevant for the design of an adaptive flight control system. The book also discusses the estimation of aerodynamic derivatives of rigid and flexible aircraft which are treated separately. The longitudinal and lateral-directional derivatives of aircraft are estimated from flight data. Besides the aerodynamic derivatives, mode shape parameters of flexible aircraft are also identified in the book as part of identification for the state space aircraft model. Since the detailed description of the approach is illustrated through the block diagram and their results are presented in tabular form with figures of parameters converge to their estimates, the contents of this book are intended for readers who want to pursue a postgraduate and doctoral degree in science and engineering. This book is useful for practicing scientists, engineers, and teachers in the field of aerospace engineering.

Book Aircraft System Identification

Download or read book Aircraft System Identification written by Eugene Morelli and published by Sunflyte Enterprises. This book was released on 2016 with total page 618 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a comprehensive overview of both the theoretical underpinnings and the practical application of aircraft modeling based on experimental data also known as aircraft system identification. Much of the material presented comes from the authors own extensive research and teaching activities at the NASA Langley Research Center, and is based on real-world applications of system identification to aircraft. The book uses actual flight-test and wind-tunnel data for case studies and examples, and is a valuable resource for researchers and practicing engineers, as well as a textbook for postgraduate and senior-level courses. [...] The methods and algorithms explained in the book are implemented in a NASA software toolbox called SIDPAC (System IDentification Programs for AirCraft). SIDPAC is written in MATLAB®, and is available by request from NASA Langley Research Center. SIDPAC is composed of many different tools that implement a wide variety of approaches explained fully in the book. These tools can be readily applied to solve aircraft system identification problems.

Book Identification of Dynamic Systems

Download or read book Identification of Dynamic Systems written by Richard E. Maine and published by . This book was released on 1986 with total page 167 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pt. 1 examines the practical application of parameter estimation methodology to the problem of estimating aircraft stability and control derivatives from flight test data. The primary purpose is to present a comprehensive and unified picture of the entire parameter estimation process and its integration into a flight test program. Pt. 2 covers areas such as flight path reconstruction, nonlinear model identification, optimal input design and flight test instrumentation. This approach is referred to as the Two-Step Method (TSM), also known as Estimation Before Modelling (EBM) in the literature. It will be shown that this approach has significant practical advantages over methods which no attempt is made to decompose the joint parameter-state estimation problem. The two-step method is generally applicable to flight vehicles such as fixed wing aircraft and rotorcraft which are equipped with state of the art inertial reference systems.

Book Nonlinear Control of Robots and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles

Download or read book Nonlinear Control of Robots and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles written by Ranjan Vepa and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2016-10-14 with total page 544 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nonlinear Control of Robots and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles: An Integrated Approach presents control and regulation methods that rely upon feedback linearization techniques. Both robot manipulators and UAVs employ operating regimes with large magnitudes of state and control variables, making such an approach vital for their control systems design. Numerous application examples are included to facilitate the art of nonlinear control system design, for both robotic systems and UAVs, in a single unified framework. MATLAB® and Simulink® are integrated to demonstrate the importance of computational methods and systems simulation in this process.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph is an exposition of a novel method for solving inverse problems, a method of parameter estimation for time series data collected from simulations of real experiments. These time series might be generated by measuring the dynamics of aircraft in flight, by the function of a hidden Markov model used in bioinformatics or speech recognition or when analyzing the dynamics of asset pricing provided by the nonlinear models of financial mathematics. Dynamic Systems Models demonstrates the use of algorithms based on polynomial approximation which have weaker requirements than already-popular iterative methods. Specifically, they do not require a first approximation of a root vector and they allow non-differentiable elements in the vector functions being approximated. The text covers all the points necessary for the understanding and use of polynomial approximation from the mathematical fundamentals, through algorithm development to the application of the method in, for instance, aeroplane flight dynamics or biological sequence analysis. The technical material is illustrated by the use of worked examples and methods for training the algorithms are included. Dynamic Systems Models provides researchers in aerospatial engineering, bioinformatics and financial mathematics (as well as computer scientists interested in any of these fields) with a reliable and effective numerical method for nonlinear estimation and solving boundary problems when carrying out control design. It will also be of interest to academic researchers studying inverse problems and their solution.
