This new reference discusses separation methods, extraction techniques; bioavailability as related to humans, plants, and aquatic organisms; applications showing importance of speciation in groundwater; industrial waste treatment systems, marines and lakes, solid-solution interface; fate of organic pollutants; nature of surfaces; binding of metals to oxides and sediments (dissolved and particulate matter); interpretations of reactions in multi-ligand systems.

Book Advanced Analysis of Steel Frames

Download or read book Advanced Analysis of Steel Frames written by W.F. Chen and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-01-18 with total page 398 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The development of the limit state approach to design in recent years has focused particular attention on two basic requirements: accurate information regarding the behavior of structures throughout the entire range of loading up to the ultimate strength, and simple practical procedures to enable engineers to assess this behavior. This book satisfies these requirements by providing practical analysis methods for the design of steel frames. The book contains a wide range of second-order analyses: from elastic to inelastic, rigid to semi-rigid connections, and simple plastic hinge method to sophisticated plastic-zone method. Computer programs for each analysis are provided in the form of a floppy disk for easy implementation. Sample problems are described and user's manuals are well documented for each program developed in the book.

Book Tubular Structures XI

Download or read book Tubular Structures XI written by JeffreyA. Packer and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-10-02 with total page 710 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This topical book contains the latest scientific and engineering developments in the field of tubular steel structures, as presented at the "11th International Symposium and IIW International Conference on Tubular Structures". The International Symposium on Tubular Structures (ISTS) has a long-standing reputation for being the principal showcase for manufactured tubing and the prime international forum for discussion of research, developments and applications in this field. Various key and emerging subjects in the field of hollow structural sections are covered, such as: novel applications and case studies, static and fatigue behaviour of connections/joints, concrete-filled and composite tubular members, earthquake resistance, specification and code developments, material properties and structural reliability, impact resistance and brittle fracture, fire resistance, casting and fabrication innovations. Research and development issues presented in this book are applicable to buildings, bridges, offshore structures, entertainment rides, cranes, towers and various mechanical and agricultural equipment. This book is thus a pertinent reference source for architects, civil and mechanical engineers, designers, steel fabricators and contractors, manufacturers of hollow sections or related construction products, trade associations involved with tubing, owners or developers of tubular structures, steel specification committees, academics and research students. The conference presentations herein include two keynote lectures (the International Institute of Welding Houdremont Lecture and the ISTS Kurobane Lecture), plus finalists in the CIDECT Student Papers Competition. The 11th International Symposium and IIW International Conference on Tubular Structures – ISTS11 – took place in Québec City, Canada from August 31 to September 2, 2006.

Book Structural Steel Design to Eurocode 3 and AISC Specifications

Download or read book Structural Steel Design to Eurocode 3 and AISC Specifications written by Claudio Bernuzzi and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2016-02-25 with total page 873 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Structural Steel Design to Eurocode 3 and AISC Specifications deals with the theory and practical applications of structural steel design in Europe and the USA. The book covers appropriate theoretical and background information, followed by a more design‐oriented coverage focusing on European and United States specifications and practices, allowing the reader to directly compare the approaches and results of both codes. Chapters follow a general plan, covering: A general section covering the relevant topics for the chapter, based on classical theory and recent research developments A detailed section covering design and detailing to Eurocode 3 specification A detailed section covering design and detailing to AISC specifications Fully worked examples are using both codes are presented. With construction companies working in increasingly international environments, engineers are more and more likely to encounter both codes. Written for design engineers and students of civil and structural engineering, this book will help both groups to become conversant with both code systems.

Book Fundamentals of Dimensional Analysis

Download or read book Fundamentals of Dimensional Analysis written by Alberto N. Conejo and published by . This book was released on 2021 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first book which systematically describes an integral approach on dimensional analysis. The amount of textbooks on dimensional analysis is huge, however most of the books start with the definition of the relevant variables. When the variables are given to the reader without prior knowledge on each problem it has serious consequences: the usefulness of dimensional analysis is not appreciated, is not possible to understand the real challenges of this subject and the result, which is a general relationship with dimensionless groups is useless. This book closes the hole in previous books because in addition to describe step by step how to reach the general relationship with dimensionless groups, which creates solid basis of different metallurgical problems to understand the role of the relevant variables. It provides a full description on how to obtain the experimental data and applies the experimental data to transform the general relationship in a particular solution. Once the reader learns how to design the experimental work and uses that information to define the particular solution, it is possible to asses if the selection of variables was adequate or not. The book is useful for both undergraduate and graduate students.
