Book Messages from The Risen Savior To The Seven Churches

Download or read book Messages from The Risen Savior To The Seven Churches written by Maria Sandberg and published by Darolt Books. This book was released on 2020-01-27 with total page 53 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Messages From The Risen Savior To The Seven Churches is a message of meditation based on the Bible and written by Maria Sandberg There are some beautiful messages of love sent by Christ to His people on earth, in the second and third chapters of the last book in the Bible, which perhaps you may have overlooked, passing them by as not addressed to you; or, as containing things too difficult for you to understand. You may have been accustomed to look upon the book of Revelation as a difficult Prophetic writing, and therefore you may have missed these wonderful messages of your risen and ascended Savior, and also those glimpses of Heaven which other parts of the book disclose to the reader. But if you will look at the opening verses of the book, you will find that there is a particular blessing promised to those who read this prophecy: "Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near!" Revelation 1:3 I purpose then to tell you something about the beautiful messages sent by your risen Lord to His Churches. But do you understand the meaning of the word Church? It does not mean the building where Christians meet; but it means a company of believers in Jesus, who meet together to pray to Him, and to read His Word. This may be done in a school-room; in a mansion; in a cottage; or in a sick chamber. Wherever two or three are gathered together in Christ's name, there is a Church, and there He has promised to be in the midst of them. What I want you to feel is, that when you meet as we do now, we may consider ourselves as a little Church, over which Jesus presides, and among whom He walks. God does not exclusively dwell in places made with hands, but in the true believer's heart, by His Spirit.

What I want you to feel is, that when you meet as we do now, we may consider ourselves as a little Church, over which Jesus presides, and among whom He walks. God does not exclusively dwell in places made with hands, but in the true believer's heart, by His Spirit. There were, at the time the Epistles of Christ contained in the second and third chapters of Revelation were written, Seven Churches, or assemblies of believers, in seven large cities of Asia Minor. Jesus calls these Churches, candlesticks, or LIGHT-BEARERS, and says He walks in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks. They are called light bearers, because they had the light of the Gospel shining in them and from them. And if we are a little company of true believers, we also are light-bearers; the light of the Gospel has shone into our hearts, and we must hold forth that light to others; we must "let our light shine before men, that they may see our good works, and glorify our Father who is in Heaven." If you have received the light of the Gospel, you must show it to others; you cannot be hidden; the light must diffuse itself around, if it is there at all. You will observe that Jesus addresses each of His messages to the "angel" of the Church. He gave the message to John; John was to give it to the presiding minister of the Church; the minister was to deliver it to the people. And so it is in our days. Christ makes use of means of grace, means of instruction; He is the chief Shepherd, but He has under-shepherds whom He commissions to feed His flock. If you have a faithful minister, oh! value him; look upon him as bringing you messages from Jesus; and when you listen to him say, "I will hear what God the Lord will speak to me by His servant!" It is our great privilege to have the very words of the messages sent by the risen and ascended Savior to His earliest Churches; and I think, as we proceed to meditate on these messages, we shall find our place in some of the characters spoken of. Examine yourselves, then, dear friends, and see to what Church you belong, and what the message of Christ is to you individually. And may you learn to love this precious part of God's Word; may it be food for your meditations at home, and may it draw you nearer to the ever fresh Fountain of all light and comfort!

Book Christ s Call to Reform the Church

Download or read book Christ s Call to Reform the Church written by John MacArthur and published by Moody Publishers. This book was released on 2018-10-09 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What does the church need to hear today? As many have said, the church must always be reforming. It must continually move closer to a truer, more faithful expression of the gospel. The risen Christ’s powerful letters to the seven churches in Revelation are a guide to just that. Based on John MacArthur’s exposition of these letters, Christ’s Call to Reform the Church is a plea to the modern church to heed these divine warnings, to reform before it succumbs to the kinds of compromise and error that invite God’s judgment. Christ’s Call to Reform the Church admonishes the church today to learn from the mistakes God’s people have made in the past, rather than commit them again. The Word of God has many benefits, one of which is that it reveals our blind spots. That's what this book does—it shines a light on problems we didn't know we had. May it be embraced by Christians everywhere, spurring them toward the God-honoring, grace-driven work of continued reformation.

Book Letters to the Seven Churches of Revelation

Download or read book Letters to the Seven Churches of Revelation written by Gregory Lund and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2012-10-03 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The letters of Jesus Christ to the seven churches in Revelation were tailored to address the real needs and challenges of specific churches. As we read these letters, we will discover that the needs and challenges those congregations faced are very much like those faced by our local churches today, and that Christ's word to these seven churches are as relevant now as they were then. As we give heed to the message of these letters, we will be challenged to be the church God intended for us to be. These outlined preaching manuscripts were written and delivered by Gregory Lund. The approach is solidly biblical, and the sermons expositional in nature. This book may be used as a commentary, for sermon preparation, or for group or individual Bible study.

Book excerpt: "John's vision of the resurrected Jesus Christ in Revelation is both inspiring and challenging. What message does he have for the church? The modern church finds herself in a peculiar time; she struggles to continue her eternal purpose, carry on her calling, and maintain relevance in a world that is changing rapidly. The church's struggle today is not all that different from the difficulties the church faced in the first century. That is why Bill Thomas wrote Dear Church; to analyze Jesus' message to the seven first-century churches of Asia on how to overcome their challenges. The eight lessons included within this book act as a roadmap, helping readers to question whether their church is portraying the teachings of the risen Christ. This book can be used by anyone who wishes to grow in both spirit and knowledge, as well as those seeking spiritual clarity. Lessons include: Letter to the church at Smyrna: The Persecuted Church (Revelation 2:8-11) Letter to the church at Sardis: The Dead Church (Revelation 3:1-6) Letter to the church at Laodicea: The Lukewarm Church (Revelation 3:14-22)"--

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lay persons in the church might be forgiven for imagining that the book of Revelation cannot be understood. There are many different interpretive schemes proposed, and hundreds of variations within those schemes. But the reader who is willing to spend the time will find real treasures in the study of this book, and Paul Himes has provided an excellent guide to some of the most important passages, as he looks at the messages to the seven churches, and even more importantly at the One who is sending those messages, based on the vision in the first chapter and the ways in which the churches are addressed. Dr. Himes provides key background information and then takes a serious look at the details of the text, but he does so in a way that is clear and that points the reader to ways of approaching the text more seriously on his or her own. For those who want to follow the trail further, the footnotes are extensive. Since, as the author tells us on page 5, “... one cannot begin to grapple with the eschatology of Revelation until one has submitted to the Christology of Revelation” this book provides an excellent point of entry for someone who wants to take a new and refreshing look at this important book. Here one can study the Christ of revelation (Christology), the church He ordained (ecclesiology), and go from there to the purpose and destination He has for that church (eschatology).

Each letter, as proclaimed by Jesus and recorded by John the Apostle, declares the triumphs and failings of the recipient churches and warns each congregation to repent. The advice in these letters is prophetic, forewarning present-day Christian communities of the snares that can lure us away from our faith.
