Book Mystics and Mental Blocks Amplifier 3

Download or read book Mystics and Mental Blocks Amplifier 3 written by Meghan Ciana Doidge and published by Old Man in the CrossWalk. This book was released on with total page 327 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Three days. That was all the reprieve we got before one of the Five showed up, injured and on the run. The snowstorm that had encased the property, as well as stifled the town, hadn’t even melted away. That wounded prey led our newest adversary directly to me, to Christopher. Inconvenient timing, but not unexpected. It was the betrayal forcing me to stay my hand against that adversary that shocked me. Betrayal from the least likely of sources. Or so I would have thought. But that didn’t change who I was, and what I would do to preserve a life I loved, people I cherished. I wasn’t so easily broken. But that didn’t mean I couldn’t be hurt, couldn’t be pulled apart. Unraveled. And if I managed to put the pieces back together? I wasn’t certain who I’d be on the other side of it all. Friend? Lover? Killer? Emma or Amp5? Or was it possible to be all those things at once? ----------------- Mystics and Mental Blocks by Meghan Ciana Doidge is the third book in the Amplifier series, which is set in the same universe as the Dowser, Oracle, Reconstructionist, Archivist, and Misfits of the Adept Universe series. Reading Order · The Amplifier Protocol (Amplifier 0) · Close to Home (Amplifier 0.5) (bundled with A0) · Demons and DNA (Amplifier 1) · Bonds and Broken Dreams (Amplifier 2) · Mystics and Mental Blocks (Amplifier 3) · Idols and Enemies (Amplifier 4) · The Music Box (Amplifier 4.5) (bundled with A4) · Instincts and Impostors (Amplifier 5) · Recon Mission: Bee (Amplifier 5.5)

Book Detection of Mental Blocks in Humans Based on Physiological Measures

Download or read book Detection of Mental Blocks in Humans Based on Physiological Measures written by Franz-Josef Auernigg and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2007-08 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Diploma Thesis from the year 2006 in the subject Computer Science - Applied, grade: 2.0, University of Salzburg (Department of Computer Sciences), course: Natural Computation, 36 entries in the bibliography, language: English, abstract: This thesis presents techniques to detect mental blocks in humans based on the physiological parameters skin potential and skin resistance. We examine physiological measures from the Musico Cause and Effect study of the Science Network for Man and Music at the University of Music and Dramatic Arts, Mozarteum Salzburg. The existing digital signal analysis tool AIDA used to process the physiological data has been replaced by the Dynalyzer developed by the author with considerable improvements in accuracy and performance. We present fundamentals of digital signal processing, outline the measurement of physiological data, and discuss characteristics of mental blocks. We suggest several criteria for the detection of mental blocks based on characteristic features of the physiological time series in the time and/or frequency domain. In first experiments the potential of these criteria is evaluated by applying them to actual physiological data of a test subject. As no ground truth on the occurrence of mental blocks is available, the experimental results can only be an indicator for the quality of the detection of mental blocks. Further experiments are conducted with data from the Vienna determination test assessing the reactive stress tolerance and attention deficits of human test subjects.

Book excerpt: The definitive classic that has helped more than 400,000 people defeat obsessive-compulsive behavior, with all-new material from the author An estimated 5 million Americans suffer from obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and live diminished lives in which they are compelled to obsess about something or to repeat a similar task over and over. Traditionally, OCD has been treated with Prozac or similar drugs. The problem with medication, aside from its cost, is that 30 percent of people treated don't respond to it, and when the pills stop, the symptoms invariably return. In Brain Lock, Jeffrey M. Schwartz, M.D., presents a simple four-step method for overcoming OCD that is so effective, it's now used in academic treatment centers throughout the world. Proven by brain-imaging tests to actually alter the brain's chemistry, this method doesn't rely on psychopharmaceuticals. Instead, patients use cognitive self-therapy and behavior modification to develop new patterns of response to their obsessions. In essence, they use the mind to fix the brain. Using the real-life stories of actual patients, Brain Lock explains this revolutionary method and provides readers with the inspiration and tools to free themselves from their psychic prisons and regain control of their lives.

Book Around the Writer s Block

Download or read book Around the Writer s Block written by Rosanne Bane and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2012-08-02 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Discover the tricks that your brain uses to keep you from writing—and how to beat them. Do you: Want to write, but find it impossible to get started? Keep your schedules so full that you don’t have any time to write? Wait until the last minute to write, even though you know you could do a better job if you gave yourself more time? Suddenly remember ten other things that you need to do whenever you sit down to write? Sabotage your own best efforts with lost files, missed deadlines, or excessive self-criticism? The good news is that you’re not lazy, undisciplined, or lacking in willpower, talent or ambition. You just need to learn what’s going on inside your brain, and harness the power of brain science to beat resistance and develop a productive writing habit. In Around the Writer’s Block, Rosanne Bane-- a creativity coach and writing teacher for more than 20 years-- uses the most recent breakthroughs in brain science to help us understand, in simple, clear language, where writing resistance comes from: a fight-or-flight response hard-wired into our brain, which can make us desperate to flee the sources of our anxieties by any means possible. Bane’s three-part plan, which has improved the productivity of thousands of writers, helps you develop new reliable writing habits, rewire the brain’s responses to the anxiety of writing, and turn writing from a source of stress and anxiety into one of joy and personal growth.
