Book Real Analysis A Comprehensive Course in Analysis Part 1

Download or read book Real Analysis A Comprehensive Course in Analysis Part 1 written by Barry Simon and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2015-11-02 with total page 789 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Comprehensive Course in Analysis by Poincaré Prize winner Barry Simon is a five-volume set that can serve as a graduate-level analysis textbook with a lot of additional bonus information, including hundreds of problems and numerous notes that extend the text and provide important historical background. Depth and breadth of exposition make this set a valuable reference source for almost all areas of classical analysis. Part 1 is devoted to real analysis. From one point of view, it presents the infinitesimal calculus of the twentieth century with the ultimate integral calculus (measure theory) and the ultimate differential calculus (distribution theory). From another, it shows the triumph of abstract spaces: topological spaces, Banach and Hilbert spaces, measure spaces, Riesz spaces, Polish spaces, locally convex spaces, Fréchet spaces, Schwartz space, and spaces. Finally it is the study of big techniques, including the Fourier series and transform, dual spaces, the Baire category, fixed point theorems, probability ideas, and Hausdorff dimension. Applications include the constructions of nowhere differentiable functions, Brownian motion, space-filling curves, solutions of the moment problem, Haar measure, and equilibrium measures in potential theory.

Download or read book Algebraizable Logics written by W. J. Blok and published by Advanced Reasoning Forum. This book was released on 2022-07-23 with total page 90 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: W. J. Blok and Don Pigozzi set out to try to answer the question of what it means for a logic to have algebraic semantics. In this seminal book they transformed the study of algebraic logic by giving a general framework for the study of logics by algebraic means. The Dutch mathematician W. J. Blok (1947-2003) received his doctorate from the University of Amsterdam in 1979 and was Professor of Mathematics at the University of Illinois, Chicago until his death in an automobile accident. Don Pigozzi (1935- ) grew up in Oakland, California, received his doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley in 1970, and was Professor of Mathematics at Iowa State University until his retirement in 2002. The Advanced Reasoning Forum is pleased to make available in its Classic Reprints series this exact reproduction of the 1989 text, with a new errata sheet prepared by Don Pigozzi.

Book Stable Module Theory

Download or read book Stable Module Theory written by Maurice Auslander and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1969 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The notions of torsion and torsion freeness have played a very important role in module theory--particularly in the study of modules over integral domains. Furthermore, the use of homological techniques in this connection has been well established. It is the aim of this paper to extend these techniques and to show that this extension leads naturally to several new concepts (e.g. k-torsion freeness and Gorenstein dimension) which are useful in the classification of modules and rings.

Book An Index of a Graph with Applications to Knot Theory

Download or read book An Index of a Graph with Applications to Knot Theory written by Kunio Murasugi and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1993 with total page 118 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are three chapters to the memoir. The first defines and develops the notion of the index of a graph. The next chapter presents the general application of the graph index to knot theory. The last section is devoted to particular examples, such as determining the braid index of alternating pretzel links. A second result shows that for an alternating knot with Alexander polynomial having leading coefficient less than 4 in absolute value, the braid index is determined by polynomial invariants.

Book Computing the Homology of the Lambda Algebra

Download or read book Computing the Homology of the Lambda Algebra written by Martin C. Tangora and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1985 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For each prime [italic]p there is a 'lambda algebra' which serves, among other things, as an [italic]E1 term for the (stable or unstable) Adams spectral sequence. This paper describes algorithms and programs for computing the homology of these algebras using a mainframe computer. Tables of the results are included for [italic]p = 2 and [italic]p = 3.

Book Deformation Quantization for Actions of R d

Download or read book Deformation Quantization for Actions of R d written by Marc Aristide Rieffel and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1993 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work describes a general construction of a deformation quantization for any Poisson bracket on a manifold which comes from an action of R ]d on that manifold. These deformation quantizations are strict, in the sense that the deformed product of any two functions is again a function and that there are corresponding involutions and operator norms. Many of the techniques involved are adapted from the theory of pseudo-differential operators. The construction is shown to have many favorable properties. A number of specific examples are described, ranging from basic ones such as quantum disks, quantum tori, and quantum spheres, to aspects of quantum groups.

Book Factorizing the Classical Inequalities

Download or read book Factorizing the Classical Inequalities written by Grahame Bennett and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1996 with total page 145 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This memoir describes a new way of looking at the classical inequalities. The most famous such results, (those of Hilbert, Hardy, and Copson) may be interpreted as inclusion relationships, l[superscript italic]p [subset equality symbol] [italic capital]Y, between certain (Banach) sequence spaces, the norm of the injection being the best constant of the particular inequality. The inequalities of Hilbert, Hardy, and Copson all share the same space [italic capital]Y. That space -- alias [italic]ces([italic]p) -- is central to many celebrated inequalities, and thus is studied here in considerable detail.

Book Generalized Frobenius Partitions

Download or read book Generalized Frobenius Partitions written by George E. Andrews and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1984 with total page 50 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper is devoted to the study of equilength two-line arrays of non-negative integers. These are called generalized Frobenius partitions. It is shown that such objects have numerous interactions with modular forms, Kloosterman quadratic forms, the Lusztig-Macdonald-Wall conjectures as well as with classical theta functions and additive number theory.

Book Unimodal Log Concave and Polya Frequency Sequences in Combinatorics

Download or read book Unimodal Log Concave and Polya Frequency Sequences in Combinatorics written by Francesco Brenti and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1989 with total page 118 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many sequences of combinatorial interest are known to be unimodal or log-concave and there has been a considerable amount of interest devoted to this topic. The main object of this work is to point out another branch of mathematics that can be successfully used to attack these kinds of problems, namely, the theory of total positivity.
