Book excerpt: The authors present measurements of branching fractions in the b 2!s{bar s}s penguin-dominated decays B 2![phi]K and B° 2![phi]K° in a sample of approximately 89 million B{bar B} pairs collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B-meson Factory at SLAC. Book Measurements of Branching Fraction Polarization and Direct CP Violating Asymmetry in B sup K sup 0 rho sup Decays

Download or read book Measurements of Branching Fraction Polarization and Direct CP Violating Asymmetry in B sup K sup 0 rho sup Decays written by and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this analysis is the simultaneous measurement of the branching fraction, the longitudinal-polarization component, and the direct-CP-violating charge asymmetry for the B --> vector-vector decay mode B[sup +] --> K*[sup 0][rho][sup +], which has previously not been seen experimentally. The measurement of the polarization of the penguin decay is of special interest. There is no tree contribution to the decay amplitude and only a very small annihilation process. The polarization of the B[sup +] --> K*[sup 0][rho][sup +] decay mode can be compared to that already measured for the similar penguin decay B --> K*[phi].

This book was released on 2011 with total page 8 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We report the first reconstruction in hadron collisions of the suppressed decays B-2!D(2!K+[pi]- )K- and B-2!D(2!K+[pi]- )[pi]- decays, sensitive to the CKM phase [gamma], using data from 7 fb-1 of integrated luminosity collected by the CDF II detector at the Tevatron collider. We reconstruct a signal for the B-2!D(2!K+[pi]- )K- suppressed mode with a significance of 3.2 standard deviations, and measure the ratios of the suppressed to favored branching fractions R(K) = [22.0 " 8.6(stat) " 2.6(syst)] x 10-3, R+(K) = [42.6 " 13.7(stat) " 2.8(syst)] x 10-3, R-(K) = [3.8 " 10.3(stat) " 2.7(syst)] x 10-3 as well as the direct CP-violating asymmetry A(K) = -0.82"0.44(stat)"0.09(syst) of this mode. Corresponding quantities for B- 2!D(2!K+[pi]- )[pi]- decay are also reported.

Book Measurement of Neutral B Decay Branching Fractions to K sub S sup 0 pi sup pi sup Final States

Download or read book Measurement of Neutral B Decay Branching Fractions to K sub S sup 0 pi sup pi sup Final States written by and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The branching fractions for B[sup 0] --> K[sup 0][pi][sup +][pi][sup -], B[sup 0] --> K*[sup +][pi][sup -] and B[sup 0] --> D[sup -]( --> K[sub s][sup 0][pi][sup -])[pi][sup +] decaying to a K[sub s][sup 0][pi][sup +][pi][sup -] state have been measured and agree with previous measurements. The direct CP violating parameter A[sub K*[pi]] was measured for the decay B[sup 0] --> K*[sup +][pi][sup -] and is in agreement with the CLEO measurement, with no evidence of CP violation with the statistics used. Using larger datasets, one can extract amplitudes and relative phases of the resonant contributions to the Dalitz plot, with the possibility to observe new B-meson decays.
