Book Measurements of Jet and Multijet Cross Sections with the CDF Detector

Download or read book Measurements of Jet and Multijet Cross Sections with the CDF Detector written by and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recent measurements of jet and multijet production cross sections from p{bar p} collisions recorded with the Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF) are summarized. First Run II results of the inclusive one jet cross section at (square root)s = 1.96 TeV as well as prospects for future extensions of this measurement are presented. We also studied the properties of three-jet events in Run Ib data at (square root)s = 1.8 TeV. All results are compared to predictions of Quantum Chromodynamics at next-to-leading order perturbation theory.

Book Measurements of Differential Z gamma jet X Cross Sections with the D0 Detector

Download or read book Measurements of Differential Z gamma jet X Cross Sections with the D0 Detector written by and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 6 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present measurements of differential cross sections in inclusive Z/[gamma]* plus jet production in a data sample of 1 fb−1 collected with the D0 detector in proton antiproton collisions at √s = 1.96 TeV. Measured variables include the Z/[gamma]* transverse momentum (p{sub T}{sup Z}) and rapidity (y{sup Z}), the leading jet transverse momentum (p{sub T}{sup jet}) and rapidity (y{sup jet}), as well as various angles of the Z+jet system. We compare the results to different Monte Carlo event generators and next-to-leading order perturbative QCD (NLO pQCD) predictions, with non-perturbative corrections applied.

Book Comparison of the Z gamma Jets to gamma Jets Cross Sections in Pp Collisions at sqrt s

Download or read book Comparison of the Z gamma Jets to gamma Jets Cross Sections in Pp Collisions at sqrt s written by and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this study, a comparison of the differential cross sections for the processes Z/[gamma] * + jets and photon ([gamma])+jets is presented. The measurements are based on data collected with the CMS detector at √s = 8 TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb-1. The differential cross sections and their ratios are presented as functions of pT. The measurements are also shown as functions of the jet multiplicity. Differential cross sections are obtained as functions of the ratio of the Z/[gamma]* pT to the sum of all jet transverse momenta and of the ratio of the Z/[gamma]* pT to the leading jet transverse momentum. The data are corrected for detector effects and are compared to simulations based on several QCD calculations.

Book The Ratio of CDF Low E sub T Jet Cross sections at square Root s

Download or read book The Ratio of CDF Low E sub T Jet Cross sections at square Root s written by and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inclusive jet cross-sections have been measured in {bar p}p collisions at (square root)s = 546 and 1,800 GeV, using the CDF detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. The ratio of low E{sub t} (25--75 GeV) jet cross sections vs. E{sub t} has been formed, and the authors have used this as a tool to investigate some implications of the published 1989 CDF ''jet scaling'' results. In particular, results at 1,800 GeV have given no indication of any unsuspected errors in CDF's low E{sub t} jet measurements.

Book Measurements of Differential Cross Sections of Z gamma jets X Events in Proton Anti proton Collisions at S 1 2

Download or read book Measurements of Differential Cross Sections of Z gamma jets X Events in Proton Anti proton Collisions at S 1 2 written by and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 11 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present cross section measurements for Z/[gamma]* + jets + X production, differential in the transverse momenta of the three leading jets. The data sample was collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron p{bar p} collider at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 1 fb−1. Leading and next-to-leading order perturbative QCD predictions are compared with the measurements, and agreement is found within the theoretical and experimental uncertainties. We also make comparisons with the predictions of four event generators. Two parton-shower-based generators show significant shape and normalization differences with respect to the data. In contrast, two generators combining tree-level matrix elements with a parton shower give a reasonable description of the shapes observed in data, but the predicted normalizations show significant differences with respect to the data, reflecting large scale uncertainties. For specific choices of scales, the normalizations for either generator can be made to agree with the measurements.

Book Measurement of Inclusive Jet Cross Sections in Z gamma e e Jets Production in Ppbar Collisions at S 1 2

Download or read book Measurement of Inclusive Jet Cross Sections in Z gamma e e Jets Production in Ppbar Collisions at S 1 2 written by and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Ph. D. thesis presents the measurement of inclusive jet cross sections in Z/[gamma]* 2!ee− events using 1.7 fb−1 of data collected by the upgraded CDF detector during the Run II of the Tevatron. The Midpoint cone algorithm is used to search for jets in the events after identifying the presence of a Z/[gamma]* boson through the reconstruction of its decay products. The measurements are compared to next-to-LO (NLO) pQCD predictions for events with one and two jets in the final state. The perturbative predictions are corrected for the contributions of non-perturbative processes, like the underlying event and the fragmentation of the partons into jets of hadrons. These processes are not described by perturbation theory and must be estimated from phenomenological models. In this thesis, a number of measurements are performed to test different models of underlying event and hadronization implemented in LO plus parton shower Monte Carlo generator programs. Chapter 2 is devoted to the description of the theory of strong interactions and jet phenomenology at hadron colliders. Chapter 3 contains the description of the Tevatron collider and the CDF detector. The analysis is described in detail in Chapter 4. Chapter 5 shows the measurement of those observables sensitive to non-perturbative effects compared to the predictions from several Monte Carlo programs. Chapter 6 discusses the final results and the comparison with theoretical expectations. Finally, Chapter 7 is devoted to the conclusions.

Book Measurement of the W Jets Differential Cross sections in p bar p Collisions at sqrt s

Download or read book Measurement of the W Jets Differential Cross sections in p bar p Collisions at sqrt s written by and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this thesis the measurements of differential cross sections for the production of the $W$-boson in association with jets in $p\bar{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 1.96$ TeV are presented. The measurements are based on 9.0 fb$^{-1}$ of CDF Run II data (i.e., the full dataset). Only events in which the W-boson decays leptonically (i.e., W 2!ev and W 2![mu]v)and at least one jet is present are considered. The lepton candidates are required to have a transverse energy $E^{\ell}_T> 25$GeV and pseudorapidity in the range l.

Book A Measurement of the Z Gamma Cross Section and Limits on Anomalous Triple Gauge Couplings at Square Root of S

Download or read book A Measurement of the Z Gamma Cross Section and Limits on Anomalous Triple Gauge Couplings at Square Root of S written by and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A study of the properties of the Z$\gamma$ diboson system is presented using 5.0 fb$^{-1}$ of proton-proton collision data from the LHC using the CMS detector. The pp $\rightarrow Z(\rightarrow\mu \mu) \gamma$ and pp $\rightarrow Z(\rightarrow e e) \gamma$ production cross sections are measured within the fiducial volume of CMS with a combined measurement of $\sigma_{\ell\ell\gamma} = 5.33 \pm 0.08 ~\text{(stat.)} \pm 0.25 ~\text{(syst.)} \pm 0.12 ~\text{(lumi.)}$ pb that is in good agreement with Standard Model predictions. Upper limits on the neutral anomalous triple gauge couplings set are the most stringent limits on these couplings to date, with allowed regions: $-0.010
