In a sample containing 157 ± 16 signal decays, we measure S{sub K*°[gamma]} = -0.21 ± 0.40 ± 0.05 and C{sub K*°[gamma]} = -0.40 ± 0.23 ± 0.03, where the first error is statistical and the second systematic. In a sample containing 105 ± 14 signal decays, we measure S{sub K*{sub {gamma}}} = 0.25 ± 0.63 ± 0.14 and C{sub K*{sub {gamma}}} = -0.57 ± 0.32 ± 0.09, where the first error is statistical and the second systematic.

Book excerpt: This dissertation presents measurements of time-dependent CP violating asymmetries in the decays B{sup 0} {yields} K{sub s}{sup 0}{pi}{sup 0} and B{sup 0} {yields} K{sub s}{sup 0}{pi}{sup 0}{gamma} based on RUN 1-4 data collected with the BABAR detector at the {Upsilon}(4S) resonance operating at the PEP-II asymmetric e{sup +}e{sup -} collider at SLAC. It was found that the CP violating asymmetry parameters are S{sub K{sub s}{pi}{sup 0}} = 0.35{sub -0.33}{sup +0.30}(stat) {+-} 0.04(syst), C{sub K{sub g}{pi}{sup 0}} = 0.06 {+-} 0.18(stat) {+-} 0.03(syst), S{sub K{sub s}{pi}{sup 0}{gamma}} = 0.9 {+-} 1.0(stat) {+-} 0.2(syst) and C{sub K{sub s}{pi}{sup 0}{gamma}} = -1.0 {+-} 0.5(stat) {+-} 0.2(syst), where B{sup 0} {yields} K{sup +0}{gamma} decays correspond to the K{sub s}{pi}{sup 0} invariant mass interval of [0.8,1.0] GeV and B{sup 0} {yields} K{sub s}{sup 0}{pi}{sup 0}{gamma} of [1.1,1.8] GeV. All results are consistent with the Standard Model predictions.

They use a sample of approximately 227 million B-meson pairs recorded at the {Upsilon}(4S) resonance by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II B-Factory at SLAC. From a maximum likelihood fit they extract the mixing-induced CP-violation parameter S{sub K{sub S}{sup 0}{pi}{sup 0}{pi}{sup 0}} = 0.84 {+-} 0.71(stat) {+-} 0.08(syst) and the direct CP-violation parameter C{sub K{sub S}{sup 0}}{pi}{sup 0}{pi}{sup 0} = 0.27 {+-} 0.52(stat) {+-} 0.13(syst), where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic.

Combining this result with the previous BABAR measurement, obtained from events with three K{sub S}{sup 0} decaying into {pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -}, they get S = -0.63{sub -0.28}{sup +0.32}(stat) {+-} 0.04(syst); C = -0.10 {+-} 0.25(stat) {+-} 0.05, (syst).

Estimating the fraction of CP-odd final states from angular moments analysis in the K{sup +}K{sup -}K{sub S}{sup 0} CP-conjugate final state, f{sub odd}(K{sup +}K{sup -}K{sub L}{sup 0}) = 0.92 {+-} 0.07(stat) {+-} 0.06(syst), they determine sin2{beta}{sub eff} = 0.09 {+-} 0.33(stat){sub -0.14}{sup +0.13}(syst) {+-} 0.10(syst CP-cont) where the last error is due to uncertainty on the CP content.

The data were recorded with the BABAR detector at PEP-II and correspond to 232 x 10{sup 6} B{bar B} pairs produced in e{sup +}e{sup -} annihilation through the {Upsilon}(4S) resonance. By fitting the time-dependent CP asymmetry of the reconstructed B{sup 0} {yields} {eta}'K{sub L}{sup 0} events, they find S = 0.60 {+-} 0.31 {+-} 0.04 and C = 0.10 {+-} 0.21 {+-} 0.03, where the first error quoted is statistical and the second is systematic. They also perform a combined fit using both {eta}'K{sub S}{sup 0} and {eta}'K{sub L}{sup 0} data, and find S = 0.36 {+-} 0.13 {+-} 0.03 and C = -0.16 {+-} 0.09 {+-} 0.02.

Event yields and CP-violation parameters are determined simultaneously from a multidimensional unbinned maximum likelihood fit. In a data sample consisting of approximately 33 million [Upsilon](4S) 2!B{bar B} decays collected with the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric B Factory, we find 6511{sup +12} [pi]{sup +-}[pi] and 217 ± 18 K{sup ±}[pi] candidates and measure S = 0.030{sup +0} ± 0.11, C = -0.25−0{sup +0} = -0.25−0{sup +0} ± 0.14, and = -0.07 {+-} 0.08 {+-} 0.02, where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic.

The time-dependent CP asymmetry parameters measured from J/[psi] K{sub S}°, J/[psi]K{sub L}°, [psi](2S)K{sub S}°, [eta]{sub c}K{sub S}°, [chi]{sub c1}K{sub S}° and J/[psi] K*(892)° decays are: C{sub f} = 0.024 ± 0.020(stat) ± 0.016(syst) and -[eta]{sub f}S{sub f} = 0.687 ± 0.028(stat) ± 0.012(syst).
