Download or read book Measurement of Diffraction Dissociation Cross Sections in Pp Collisions at sqrt s written by and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Measurements of diffractive dissociation cross sections in pp collisions at √s=7 TeV are presented in kinematic regions defined by the masses MX and MY of the two final-state hadronic systems separated by the largest rapidity gap in the event. The differential cross sections are measured as a function of ?X = M2X /s in the region -5.5 logsub10/sub?subX/sub -2.5, for logsub10/subMsubY/sub 0.5, dominated by single dissociation (SD), and 0.5 log10MsubY/sub 1.1, dominated by double dissociation (DD), where MsubX/sub and MsubY/sub are given in GeV. The inclusive pp cross section is also measured as a function of the width of the central pseudorapidity gap ?? for ?? 3, logsub10/sub MsubX/sub 1.1, and logsub10/subMsubY/sub 1.1, a region dominated by DD. The cross sections integrated over these regions are found to be, respectively, 2.99 ± 0.02(stat)sup+0.32/supsub-0.29/sub(syst) mb, 1.18 ± 0.02(stat) ± 0.13(syst) mb, and 0.58 ± 0.01(stat)sup+0.13/supsub-0.11/sub(syst) mb, and are used to extract extrapolated total SD and DD cross sections. In addition, the inclusive differential cross section, d?/d??supF/sup, for events with a pseudorapidity gap adjacent to the edge of the detector, is measured over ??

Book Measurement of the Production Cross Section for Pairs of Isolated Photons in Pp Collisions at Sqrt s

Download or read book Measurement of the Production Cross Section for Pairs of Isolated Photons in Pp Collisions at Sqrt s written by and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 38 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The integrated and differential cross sections for the production of pairs of isolated photons is measured in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV with the CMS detector at the LHC. A data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 inverse picobarns is analysed. A next-to-leading-order perturbative QCD calculation is compared to the measurements. A discrepancy is observed for regions of the phase space where the two photons have an azimuthal angle difference, $\Delta(\phi)$, less than approximately 2.8.

Book Measurement of the Total and Differential Inclusive mathrm B Hadron Cross Sections in Pp Collisions at sqrt s

Download or read book Measurement of the Total and Differential Inclusive mathrm B Hadron Cross Sections in Pp Collisions at sqrt s written by and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The total and differential cross sections for inclusive production of $\mathrm{B}^{+}$ hadrons are measured as a function of the $\mathrm{B}^{+}$ transverse momentum $p_{\mathrm{T}}^\mathrm{B}$ and rapidity $y^\mathrm{B}$ in pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, using data collected by the CMS experiment that correspond to an integrated luminosity of 49.4 pb$^{-1}$. The measurement uses the exclusive decay channel $\mathrm{B}^{+} \to \mathrm{J}/\psi \mathrm{K}^{+}$, with $\mathrm{J}/\psi$ mesons that decay to a pair of muons. The results show a reasonable agreement with theoretical calculations within the uncertainties.

Book Measurement of the Differential and Double differential Drell Yan Cross Sections in Proton proton Collisions at Sqrt s

Download or read book Measurement of the Differential and Double differential Drell Yan Cross Sections in Proton proton Collisions at Sqrt s written by and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Measurements of the differential and double-differential Drell-Yan cross sections are presented using an integrated luminosity of 4.5(4.8) inverse femtobarns in the dimuon (dielectron) channel of proton-proton collision data recorded with the CMS detector at the LHC at sqrt{s} = 7 TeV. The measured inclusive cross section in the Z-peak region (60-120 GeV) is \sigma(\ell \ell) = 986.4 +/- 0.6 (stat.) +/- 5.9 (exp. syst.) +/- 21.7 (th. syst.) +/- 21.7 (lum.) pb for the combination of the dimuon and dielectron channels. Differential cross sections $d\sigma/dm$ for the dimuon, dielectron, and combined channels are measured in the mass range 15 to 1500 GeV and corrected to the full phase space. Results are also presented for the measurement of the double-differential cross section d2̂\sigma/dm d.

Book Measurement of Differential Cross Sections for Higgs Boson Production in the Diphoton Decay Channel in Pp Collisions at sqrt s

Download or read book Measurement of Differential Cross Sections for Higgs Boson Production in the Diphoton Decay Channel in Pp Collisions at sqrt s written by and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 31 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Here, we presented a measurement of differential cross sections for the Higgs boson (H) production in pp collisions at √s = 8 TeV. The analysis exploits the H →?? decay in data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb-1 collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC. The cross section is measured as a function of the kinematic properties of the diphoton system and of the associated jets. Results corrected for detector effects are compared with predictions at next-to-leading order and nextto-next-to-leading order in perturbative quantum chromodynamics, as well as with predictions beyond the standard model. Furthermore, for isolated photons with pseudorapidities.
