This book was released on 2017-12-18 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Matter and Some of Its Dimensions Particularly is this true with reference to the electrical theory of matter, which seems to give a moral value to the intellectual perceptions of modern physicists. Though not yet elevated to the dignity of a universally accepted theory, it is no exaggeration to say that its advocates are to be found among the world's greatest thinkers, and that their numbers daily increase. The content of the following pages is to be regarded in the light of an hypothesis only. The facts have been culled from a variety of sources, and only those discussed which are well recognized in the scientific and philosoph 1cal worlds. Much time has been expended in marshaling these facts, but the writer feels that he will be more than repaid if, in the case of a single reader, he has dulled the edge of doubt or caused one sorrow to seem less real. Book Principles Of Space time matter Cosmology Particles And Waves In Five Dimensions

Download or read book Principles Of Space time matter Cosmology Particles And Waves In Five Dimensions written by Paul S Wesson and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2018-12-13 with total page 275 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'For those interested, the book is a good and well-written overview of the work of Wesson and his collaborators. For those with a general interest in extensions of standard physics, accessibility is strongly dependent on the reader’s technical background, though the good structure of the book and copious references (including many to work by more-mainstream physicists on related topics) make that possible for those willing to invest some time.'The Observatory MagazineThis book is a summing up of the prospects for unification between relativity and particle physics based on the extension of Einstein's theory of General Relativity to five dimensions. This subject was first established by Paul Wesson in his previous best-seller, Space-Time-Matter, and discussed from a different perspective in Five-Dimensional Physics, both published by World Scientific in 1999 and 2006 respectively. This third book brings the field up to date and details many new developments and connections to particle theory and wave mechanics in particular. It was in largely finished form at the time of Paul Wesson's untimely death in 2015, and has been completed and expanded by his former student and longtime collaborator, James Overduin.

Book A Framework for K 12 Science Education

Download or read book A Framework for K 12 Science Education written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2012-02-28 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Science, engineering, and technology permeate nearly every facet of modern life and hold the key to solving many of humanity's most pressing current and future challenges. The United States' position in the global economy is declining, in part because U.S. workers lack fundamental knowledge in these fields. To address the critical issues of U.S. competitiveness and to better prepare the workforce, A Framework for K-12 Science Education proposes a new approach to K-12 science education that will capture students' interest and provide them with the necessary foundational knowledge in the field. A Framework for K-12 Science Education outlines a broad set of expectations for students in science and engineering in grades K-12. These expectations will inform the development of new standards for K-12 science education and, subsequently, revisions to curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional development for educators. This book identifies three dimensions that convey the core ideas and practices around which science and engineering education in these grades should be built. These three dimensions are: crosscutting concepts that unify the study of science through their common application across science and engineering; scientific and engineering practices; and disciplinary core ideas in the physical sciences, life sciences, and earth and space sciences and for engineering, technology, and the applications of science. The overarching goal is for all high school graduates to have sufficient knowledge of science and engineering to engage in public discussions on science-related issues, be careful consumers of scientific and technical information, and enter the careers of their choice. A Framework for K-12 Science Education is the first step in a process that can inform state-level decisions and achieve a research-grounded basis for improving science instruction and learning across the country. The book will guide standards developers, teachers, curriculum designers, assessment developers, state and district science administrators, and educators who teach science in informal environments.

Book Aquinas on Matter and Form and the Elements

Download or read book Aquinas on Matter and Form and the Elements written by Joseph Bobik and published by . This book was released on 1998 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rather than seeking support from the massive scholarly work on the 13th century thinker, Bobik (philosophy, U. of Notre Dame) translates and interprets Aquinas' work on the principles of nature and on the mixture of elements, and uses them as a basis for independent philosophy on the relationship between form and matter in the context of God's creative causality. Paragraphs of the Latin originals are followed by English versions, then Bobik's commentary. Annotation copyrighted by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
