Book Masters of Equitation on Trot

Download or read book Masters of Equitation on Trot written by and published by Trafalgar Square Publishing. This book was released on 2001 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the enormous value of the trot in schooling and suppling the horse, and explains how the natural trot of a recently backed horse is developed into the working gait, which will later form the basis for collection and extension. Trot is the gait at which much of a horse's general schooling is carried out. It is most suited to this purpose since it is more impulsive than walk and less complex than canter. As a consequence of its diagonal nature, all four legs perform an equal amount of work, and the back muscles flex and extend alternately on each side of the spine, producing an overall suppling effect. If the trot is to fulfil its role as the training gait, it must be of good quality, and should improve and develop as training progresses. Of course, this improvement and development may go far beyond the bounds of the working trot, to spectacular extensions and the ultimate levels of collection, as seen in piaffe and passage, however, in this treatise the emphasis is fundamentally upon the development of the working trot and its role as the foundation of training. Masters of Equitation on Trot is essential reading for all riders who wish to lay the correct foundations for their horses' schooling, and will fascinate all readers interested in equestrian history.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This marvelous book, borne of a unique collaboration between Dr. Allen Schoen—a world-renowned veterinarian and author—and trainer and competitor of many years Susan Gordon, introduces the 25 Principles of Compassionate Equitation. These Principles, conceived by Dr. Schoen and Gordon, are a set of developmental guidelines, encouraging a level of personal awareness that may be enacted not only through the reader's engagement with horses, but can be extended to all humans and sentient beings he or she encounters. The 25 Principles share stories and outline current, peer-reviewed studies that identify and support methods of training, handling, and caring for horses that constitute a safe, healthy, non-stressful, and pain-free environment. Through their Compassionate Equestrian program, the authors encourage all involved in the horse industry to approach training and handling with compassion and a willingness to alleviate suffering. By developing deeper compassion for their own horses, and subsequently, all equines, equestrians transcend their differences in breed preferences, riding disciplines, and training methodologies. This leads to the ability to empathize and connect more closely with the “global collective” of horses and horse people. In doing so, a worldwide community of compassionate equine practitioners and horse owners will emerge, which will not only benefit the horses: People involved with horses are found in many influential segments of society and have the potential to affect wide circles of friends, acquaintances, and co-workers from every walk of life. These are simple changes any horse person can make that can have a vast impact on the horse industry and society as a whole.

Ingrid has furthered her father’s esteemed legacy, modernizing two of the classic works by her father—the bestselling The New Basic Training of the Young Horse and Cavalletti—and tirelessly championing a balanced, fair, and caring system of training the horse that ensures his physical and mental well-being even while preparing him for the very top levels of international competition. And now Ingrid has written a book of her own, detailing her personal system of bringing a horse along through the stages of progressive development, and providing readers guidelines and exercises to ensure success without stress at each milestone. Book Classical Horsemanship for Our Time

Download or read book Classical Horsemanship for Our Time written by Jean Froissard and published by Kenilworth Press. This book was released on 1988 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Classical Horsemanship for Our time presents the heritage of classical theories of riding in a modern, highly readable format. Jean Froisard, one of the world's masters of horsemanship, takes the reader through the development of a dressage horse, dressage in its truest sense, the training of a riding horse. He begins with the criteria for selection, then describes fully the progress of early training that is basic for any horse, whatever its equestrian discipline. Building systematically upon what has been learned, with constant emphasis on rewards, for even the slightest improvement, over punishment, he then takes the reader through the training progression up to the highest levels of dressage. The emphasis is always on the practical rather than the heavily theoretical, a blessing to those readers who have found themselves "lost" when trying to apply what they have read to their day-to-day riding.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Calm, Forward and Straight must always serve as guiding principles during dressage training and the order of these concepts should not be changed. "In these volumes, I capture and explain the training foundations passed down to us from the great Masters. I provide appropriate exercises to restore, develop, and enhance the horse's natural gaits. This goal is shared in all riding styles and training disciplines, including dressage, jumpers, hunters, western, pleasure, and many others. Book One includes the fundamental training progression from the beginning to the elementary level. The training mastered in Book One is necessary to advance to the collected and extended gaits, pirouette at the canter, tempi flying changes of lead, piaffe and passage that are presented in Book Two." - Francois Lemaire de Ruffieu This work-study program explains how to Divide and Conquer the horse's body parts. To be able to properly perform the exercises the horse should be able to find the appropriate head position independent of the rider. The exercises are beautifully illustrated by hundreds of the author's drawings and diagrams. Using Ruffieu's experiential teaching method, horses and riders are transformed by a wealth of exercises, patterns and aids revealed in a logical, progressive sequence.
