Mastering Rational XDE shows you how to get maximum relief using this powerful tool, which lets you model within your preferred IDE, generate code automatically, and maintain tight synchronization between model and code at all times. One of the keys that unlocks this enormous power is the large example project that runs through Mastering Rational XDE, divided into a series of exercises that teach you to create use case and analysis models, move from analysis to design, create databases, publish and report models, and apply and create patterns. By working through this book, you'll be able to develop sophisticated, flexible object-oriented applications that are efficient to maintain and upgrade. Coverage includes: * Understanding the role of XDE in the software development life cycle * Understanding how XDE works with your IDE * Creating an analysis model * Creating a design model * Creating a data model * Generating code, including classes, attributes, operations, relationships, and components * Keeping your code and model in sync * Publishing a model and generating reports * Using Gang-of-Four patterns in an XDE model * Creating and using a Reusable Asset Specification (RAS) * Creating and using your own patterns

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Two thumbs up" —Gregory V. Wilson, Dr. Dobbs Journal (October 2004) No one can disparage the ability to write good code. At its highest levels, it is an art. But no one can confuse writing good code with developing good software. The difference—in terms of challenges, skills, and compensation—is immense. Coder to Developer helps you excel at the many non-coding tasks entailed, from start to finish, in just about any successful development project. What's more, it equips you with the mindset and self-assurance required to pull it all together, so that you see every piece of your work as part of a coherent process. Inside, you'll find plenty of technical guidance on such topics as: Choosing and using a source code control system Code generation tools--when and why Preventing bugs with unit testing Tracking, fixing, and learning from bugs Application activity logging Streamlining and systematizing the build process Traditional installations and alternative approaches To pull all of this together, the author has provided the source code for Download Tracker, a tool for organizing your collection of downloaded code, that's used for examples throughout this book. The code is provided in various states of completion, reflecting every stage of development, so that you can dig deep into the actual process of building software. But you'll also develop "softer" skills, in areas such as team management, open source collaboration, user and developer documentation, and intellectual property protection. If you want to become someone who can deliver not just good code but also a good product, this book is the place to start. If you must build successful software projects, it's essential reading.

Book Advances in Data Science

Download or read book Advances in Data Science written by Edwin Diday and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2020-01-09 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Data science unifies statistics, data analysis and machine learning to achieve a better understanding of the masses of data which are produced today, and to improve prediction. Special kinds of data (symbolic, network, complex, compositional) are increasingly frequent in data science. These data require specific methodologies, but there is a lack of reference work in this field. Advances in Data Science fills this gap. It presents a collection of up-to-date contributions by eminent scholars following two international workshops held in Beijing and Paris. The 10 chapters are organized into four parts: Symbolic Data, Complex Data, Network Data and Clustering. They include fundamental contributions, as well as applications to several domains, including business and the social sciences.

Book Software Configuration Management

Download or read book Software Configuration Management written by IBM Redbooks and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This IBM Redbook describes configuration management in general and how it is implemented in the Rational products ClearCase and ClearQuest. The target audience for this redbook is anyone considering a software configuration management (SCM) solution, and in particular, project managers and configuration management leaders responsible for medium and large UCM deployments. In Part 1 we introduce the general concept of software configuration management (SCM), and why software asset and lifecycle management is good business. We describe an SCM strategy that leads to the ClearCase and ClearQuest products. In Part 2 we provide the details for planning and implementing SCM using a ClearCase environment, focusing on the test environment, network, servers, and clients. In Part 3 we introduce ClearQuest, its terminology, the roles and responsibilities of the different types of users, and the infrastructure required for a UCM environment. We also provide the details for planning and implementing ClearQuest. In Part 4 we introduce unified change management (UCM) using ClearCase UCM and ClearQuest, including design considerations for an effective UCM implementation, and how UCM is used to manage complexity by raising the level of abstraction. In Part 5 we describe how to do parallel development in multiple geographical locations using ClearCase and ClearQuest MultiSite, including detailed procedures for planning and implementing MultiSite for a UCM environment.

Book Modelling Analysis and Design of Hybrid Systems

Download or read book Modelling Analysis and Design of Hybrid Systems written by S. Engell and published by Springer. This book was released on 2003-07-01 with total page 494 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1995, the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), the largest public research funding organization in Germany, decided to launch a priority program (Schw- punktprogramm in German) calledKondisk– Dynamics and Control of Systems with Mixed Continuous and Discrete Dynamics. Such a priority program is usually sponsored for six years and supports about twenty scientists at a time, in engineering andcomputersciencemostlyyoungresearchersworkingforadoctoraldegree. There is a yearly competition across all disciplines of arts and sciences for the funding of such programs, and the group of proposers was the happy winner of a slot in that year. The program started in 1996 after an open call for proposals; the successful projects were presented and re-evaluated periodically, and new projects could be submitted simultaneously. During the course of the focused research program, 25 different projects were funded in 19 participating university institutes, some of the projects were collaborative efforts of two groups with different backgrounds, mostly one from engineering and one from computer science. There were two main motivations for establishingKondisk. The rst was the fact that technical systems nowadays are composed of physical components with (mostly) continuous dynamics and computerized control systems where the reaction to discrete events plays a major role, implemented in Programmable Logic Contr- lers (PLCs), Distributed Control Systems (DCSs) or real-time computer systems.
