Download or read book How to Make Whips written by Ron Edwards and published by Cornell Maritime Press/Tidewater Publishers. This book was released on 2009-07 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ron Edwards was born in Australia in 1930 and brought up in the country where small farmers still plowed with horses and harvested their half acres with sickles and scythes, and larger properties relied on the annual visit of the steam-driven threshing machines. By the 1940s all this had vanished, and Edwards had realized that the country's traditional crafts also were disappearing. He began making drawings and notes of them and published these materials in his native country. How to Make Whips is the American edition of his ninth book. The first section gives instructions for a basic eight-strand whip; the second deals with the making of fine kangaroo hide whips. Other chapters explain the making of bullwhips, snake whips, and whips made from precut lace. Also included are instructions on plaiting names in whips and using plaiting designs for whip handles.

Download or read book Tanned Leather Hand Made Bags written by Yoko Ganaha and published by Schiffer Publishing. This book was released on 2018 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book shows how to make 40 bags and miscellaneous goods with very simple, clear-cut instructions that even total beginners can follow. What makes this book special is that it has patterns with stitch marks at the end of the book. Leather is usually sewn after piercing holes for stitching, which means that punching the holes is the most important part. If the number of holes and their stitching positions match, all that is left to do is sew the item together along the holes. Tanned leather gradually softens. In this book, since thick leather is used and linings are not, the shape of your bag may change depending on age and use. This is actually one of the wonders of aged, tanned leather, that you will enjoy.
