Book Marriage Is Not a Vision It Is a Strategy

Download or read book Marriage Is Not a Vision It Is a Strategy written by Etim Uso and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2017-11-07 with total page 181 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is no doubt that the marriage institution has been disrupted in many ways. Infidelity, divorce, domestic violence, and same-sex marriage are some of the visible signs. However, the human and economic tolls arising from this disruption go far beyond what we can readily see. You have probably read or heard all the things the Bible says about marriage; you still remember all the things your parents or your pastor told you about marriage, and maybe, you have also tried out some of the recipes for a happy and successful marriage. Most of what has been written and said about marriage come from good husbands and good wives who are happily married and are too careful to rock the boat. They keep to the beaten track even when it is obvious that things are not working according to the general prescriptions and assumptions. Now, what about those things you have never heard? I mean those things that could contradict some of your cherished doctrines and beliefs? Yes, you believe in marriage vows, you believe in one manone wife marriages; perhaps, you were also given a set of rules on love, submission in marriage, or the formula for a successful marriage. You were probably told the type of people you should marry and those you should notbased on their backgrounds. Maybe you know nothing at all about all these. Never mind! Nothing will shield you from the vicissitudes of marriage; there is no absolute guarantee against failure. But you can reduce your odds of failure by acting consciously and proactively, and by taking your time to find out and understand who you are, your purpose and vision in life, before making the strategic decision of who to marry. What is the goal of marriage? And how do the requirements for running a successful business differ from those of having a successful marriage? This book is an attempt to develop a general framework for marriage based on proven business principles and guided by scriptural precepts. The central theme in this book is that marriage should be approached as a strategy for achieving a larger goala means to an end and not an end in itself. And since the success of any strategy depends on two key factorsplanning and executionthe materials in this book can be classified into two broad categories, namely, planning and execution of marriage as a strategy. However, the book comes with some curious icing on the cake: Every love is driven by need, and love that is devoid of attraction is nothing but kindness. Love, though necessary, is not a sufficient condition for marriage. Infidelity is a liberal ground for divorce when compared to some of the evils plaguing marriages in our society today. Adultery is not extramarital affair. Wedding vows make a deity of marriage and invalidates Gods divine grace on marriage. There is nothing sinful about polygamy, and there is no virtue or holiness in celibacy. If you are tired of reading marriage cookbooks written by good husbands and good wives and their hunky-dory marriages, then you will find this book a welcome break. However, the book could set husbands against their wives and wives against husbands, but it has a higher potential to unite sincere husbands and wives around a common vision that can bring lasting happiness and fulfillment to their marriages.

Book Love and Marriage in Globalizing China

Download or read book Love and Marriage in Globalizing China written by Wang Pan and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-11-13 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As China globalizes, the number of marriages between Chinese people and foreigners is increasing. These Chinese--foreign marriages have profound implications for China’s cultural identity. This book, based on extensive original research, outlines the different types of Chinese--foreign marriage, and divorce, and the changing scale and changing patterns of such marriages, and divorces, and examines how such marriages and divorces are portrayed in different kinds of media. It shows how those types of Chinese--foreign marriage where Chinese patriotism and Chinese values are preserved are depicted favourably, whereas other kinds of Chinese--foreign marriage, especially those where Chinese women marry foreign nationals, are disapproved of, male foreign nationals being seen as having a propensity to infidelity, deception, violence and taking advantage of Chinese women. The book contrasts the portrayal of Chinese--foreign marriage with the reality, and with the depiction of Chinese--Chinese marriage where many of the same problems apply. Overall, the book sheds much light on changing social processes and on current imaginings of China’s place in the world.

Book Marriage Rebranded

Download or read book Marriage Rebranded written by Tyler Ward and published by Moody Publishers. This book was released on 2014-06-13 with total page 123 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It didn’t take long for Tyler to realize he had no idea how to be married. When Tyler and Analee got married, they read marriage books, learned about each other’s personality and habits, and exhausted three-step relational formulas. Yet a year and a half after their wedding, they had fallen into a pattern of fighting and unhappiness. Tyler knew that he and his wife needed more than formulas and counseling sessions. They needed a vision for marriage that extended beyond just finding happiness and falling in love. They wanted a vision that dealt with the realities of life and gave them a picture of marriage worth fighting for. As a business professional who helps companies “rebrand” when their image doesn’t match up with their identity, Tyler realized that marriage has an image that doesn’t match up to what God designed it to be. Marriage Rebranded will help you replace four modern misconceptions about marriage with more timeless perspectives enlightened by biblical, personal, and historical studies. We need to rethink our modern brand of matrimony. It’s time for us to develop a new vision for marriage—a vision that’s worth fighting for.

Book Eternity Commitment

Download or read book Eternity Commitment written by Todd I. Stephenson and published by Eternity Commitment:. This book was released on 2006-10 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is a relationship structure available to everyone in America today called, "Eternity Commitment". The EC is all about love and sharing your lives together. The relationship structure is in every way like getting married; however no marriage license is required. In addition, you may have your lifelong commitment blessed in a faith-based ceremony, and you may celebrate your lifelong commitment with a reception following your ceremony. There is an Eternity Ring you may wear to express your bond and commitment. And yes, you have your honeymoon. Normally we don't think of marriage as a financial business partnership, however we should. When you cut through the myriad of legalese and the way in which the different states define marriage, it all comes down to one thing -- marriage is a partnership of money, possessions and joint liability. This is not what our religious forefathers intended. State lawmakers have hijacked marriage from its faith-based origins and desecrated it. (The book explains how) Marriage today is an immoral institution promoting self-serving, aberrant behavior and greed. When the love is gone, all that remains in a marriage are the monies and possessions. The divorce business is a multi-billion dollar industry for attorneys. State marriage laws do not enforce the primary commitment of marriage, "until death do us part". If one person desires a divorce, the courts will grant it. In many cases, the person breaking the commitment of marriage will profit financially. Thus, state lawmakers have created immoral incentives for divorce. People marry for money, stay married for money, manipulate their spouse over money, and divorce for money. Where is the love? Where is the commitment?
