The findings are compared across generations and across previous years of the survey. Overall, the findings indicate that Australia remains a stable and highly cohesive society, with high levels of support for multiculturalism.

The findings are compared across generations and across previous years of the survey. In contrast to many current commentators, the survey's findings suggest stability rather than significant change in opinion. However, there are emerging signs of increased pessimism, with relatively high levels of negativity towards Muslims, an increase in the proportion of people experiencing racial and religious discrimination, and concern at the failure of the political system.

The findings are discussed in the context of other recent polls and trends over time. In addition to the usual interviewer administered telephone survey, the survey as also administered online for the first time, and differences in findings between the mode of survey are also discussed.
