Download or read book Management Laureates written by Arthur G. Bedeian and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-04-17 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 1998. This volume compiles the autobiographies of the management discipline’s most distinguished laureates. Prior to this publication, the available management literature provided little insight into the personal and intellectual lives - the frustrations as well as the triumphs - of the individuals in the management discipline. Although such understanding could be conveyed in many forms, perhaps the most intimate and fascinating of these for gaining behind-the-scenes insights is the autobiography. Thus, the autobiographies in this volume, as in the five companion volumes, offer the reader not only a glimpse of the subjective determinants and personal experiences of the management discipline’s most distinguished laureates, but also a deeper understanding of what management is and what it is becoming. The various accounts reflect a diversity of approaches, interests, and experiences.

Download or read book Manufacturing Transformation written by Carol Newman and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2016 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book addresses three questions: Why is there so little industry in Africa? Does it matter? And, what can be done about it? It gives some of the results of a four year research programme by national and international researchers into what makes firms in low-income countries more competitive and what makes countries more attractive to competitive firms. The book fills an important gap in development economics and African studies. There is no other book on themarket devoted to such a comprehensive, comparative, cross-country analysis of Africa's industrialization experience. Both the policy conclusions drawn from the comparative analysis and the case studiesin their own right will be of substantial interest to readers. Policy makers in governments and international development agencies in particular will find the book useful and provocative. It reviews the economics research literature on policy instrument design for achieving optimal recycling rates and makes policy recommendations from the Nordic perspective. Finally, it presents results from a survey on market conditions to managers in the recycling and plastic manufacturing industry in Sweden.
