Download or read book Developments in fiber reinforced polymer FRP composites for civil engineering written by N. Uddin and published by Elsevier Inc. Chapters. This book was released on 2013-05-15 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This chapter discusses design for fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP)/autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) sandwich panels for structural applications. The chapter first presents the finite element analysis (FE) of FRP/AAC panels. The FE results are compared with the experimental results showing acceptable agreement. Next, analytical models are presented to predict the deflection and strength of the panels. Finally, design graphs have been developed to help in designing the floor and wall panels made from FRP/AAC panels. Also, those panels have been compared to the commercially used reinforced AAC panels demonstrating that FRP/AAC panels offer a relatively cost-effective solution for longer life cycle.

Book Continuous Discontinuous Fiber Reinforced Polymers

Download or read book Continuous Discontinuous Fiber Reinforced Polymers written by Thomas Böhlke and published by Carl Hanser Verlag GmbH Co KG. This book was released on 2019-08-05 with total page 448 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Discontinuous long fiber reinforced polymer structures with local continuous fiber reinforcements represent an important class of lightweight materials with broad design possibilities and diverse technical applications, e.g. in vehicle construction. However, in contrast to continuous fiber reinforced composites, extensively used in the aircraft industry, there is still a lack of integrated and experimentally proven concepts for manufacture, modeling, and dimensioning of combinations of discontinuously and continuously reinforced polymer structures. This is partly ascribed to the complexity of the manufacturing processes of discontinuously reinforced polymers, with heterogeneous, anisotropic, and nonlinear material and structural properties, but also to the resulting bonding problem of both material types. This book addresses these issues, including both continuous and discontinuous fiber processing strategies. Specific design strategies for advanced composite reinforcement strategies are provided, with an integrated and holistic approach taken for composites material selection, product design, and mechanical properties. Characterization, simulation, technology, design, future research, and implementation directions are also included. Especially in the field of application of three-dimensional load-bearing structures, this book provides an excellent foundation for the enhancement of scientific methods and the education of engineers who need an interdisciplinary understanding of process and material techniques, as well as simulation and product development methods.

Book Hybrid Fiber Reinforced Polymer FRP System of Carbon FRP Laminate and Sprayed Glass FRP for Strengthening Reinforced Concrete Beams

Download or read book Hybrid Fiber Reinforced Polymer FRP System of Carbon FRP Laminate and Sprayed Glass FRP for Strengthening Reinforced Concrete Beams written by Ningfeng Liang and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the 'plane section' assumption and the ACI design guide for CFRP flexural strengthening, the effects of the sprayed GFRP were developed for possible incorporation into the existing design guide. The resulting design of the hybrid system was shown to be conservative. A real-world case study of the hybrid system revealed the issues that have to be addressed before the system could be used effectively. It also showed some technical difficulties related to the spraying operation.

Book Guidelines and Recommended Practices for Fiber reinforced polymer FRP Architectural Products

Download or read book Guidelines and Recommended Practices for Fiber reinforced polymer FRP Architectural Products written by and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The purpose of these industry guidelines is to provide accurate information to architects, engineers, specifiers, and owners. This information assists in the planning, preparation of specifications, design, execution, and supervision of the manufacture and installation of Fiber-Reinforced-Polymer (FRP) composites architectural products. The goal of these guidelines is to provide an understanding of FRP products to further ensure high-quality parts and components as well as uniform procedures. An additional purpose of this guide is to assist the architect, engineer, specifier and building code official in designing and evaluating non-load bearing FRP composite parts. It is by no means intended to be a comprehensive design guide and covers only the most fundamental combinations of fiber, resin, and assembly details"--Scope note.
