Download or read book Manchester United Yearbook 2002 03 written by Cliff Butler and published by . This book was released on 2002-06 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 2001-2002 season sees Sir Alex Ferguson leading Manchester United in an effort to win their eight Premiership title in its tenth season as well to reclaim the European Champions' League Cup trophy in his final campaign at Old Trafford. With the arrival of prolific Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy, and highly-regarded Argentinian midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron (for a British transfer record of about [pound]25 million), plus an extra effort on the part of all for Fergie's last season, United will be aiming to atone for their quarter-final exit from the final stages of the Champions' League competition last year. In the Premiership, the Red Devils will be competing against those desperate to prevent them claiming a fourth consecutive title - with Liverpool and Arsenal probably being United's most dangerous rivals. Match by match and month by month, this is the ultimate record of the 2001-2002 season at Old Trafford, which features a fully illustrated match report on every single game played, full match statistics, monthly progress reports and a full set of statistics at the end of the campaign, as well as an overview of the whole season. Juniors and the Manchester United Academy teams - in effect results for every single game played by the club at every level. Also included is information on travel arrangements and supporters' clubs. There are official end-of-season statements from both the chairman and the manager, which also look forward to the possibilities for the next campaign. The Manchester United Official Yearbook 2002 is the only official, definitive review of Manchester United's 2001-2002 season, and features player profiles as United look forward to the campaign for 2002-2003.

The history books may say that Leicester City winning the premier league ‘defied logic’, but if you looked more closely, they were always going to win . . . And how can it add to our love of the game? From the author and statistician behind the popular OptaJoe Twitter account, what follows is a hugely entertaining and insightful guide to football in 2016, analysing data from the world's greatest teams, players, leagues and tournaments. Stats can never tell us everything, but combining cutting-edge analysis with wry humour, this book debunks countless myths peddled by pundits, managers, and even players. The ideas that follow are both surprising and satisfying, but may also leave you with the feeling that ‘yes, that’s what I was thinking all along’.

Book The Fragility of the Failed State Paradigm

Download or read book The Fragility of the Failed State Paradigm written by Neyire Akpinarli and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2010 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The absence of effective government, one of the most important issues in current international law, became prominent with the failed state concept at the beginning of the 1990s. Public international law, however, lacked sufficient legal means to deal with the phenomenon. Neither attempts at state reconstruction in countries such as Afghanistan and Somalia on the legal basis of Chapter VII of the UN Charter nor economic liberalisation have addressed fundamental social and economic problems. This work investigates the weaknesses of the failed state paradigm as a long-term solution for international peace and security, arguing that the solution to the absence of effective government can be found only in an economic and social approach and a true universalisation of international law.

Book The Maritime Political Boundaries of the World

Download or read book The Maritime Political Boundaries of the World written by Victor Prescott and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2005-01-01 with total page 680 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book addresses the often vexed question of national maritime claims and the delimitation of international maritime boundaries. The number of undelimited international maritime boundaries is much larger than the number of agreed lines. The two boundaries that define the marine domain of coastal states are examined. First, the baselines along the coast may consist of low-water lines or straight lines or a combination of both. When straight lines are used they define the seaward limit of the state's internal waters. Second, the outer limits of claims to territorial seas, contiguous zones and exclusive economic zones are measured from the baselines. All states will have to delimit at least one international boundary with a neighbouring state, whether adjacent or opposite. In confined seas no state can claim the full entitlement and must negotiate international boundaries with all neighbours. Many states bordering oceans can claim the full entitlement seawards, although they will need to delimit national boundaries with adjacent neighbours.
