Book Innovative Business Practices

Download or read book Innovative Business Practices written by Alkis Thrassou and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2013-07-16 with total page 403 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This second decade of the millennium finds the world changing at a once unimaginable pace. Businesses, tangled in the interwoven threads of galloping globalization, technological advances, cultural diversity, economic recession and deep-rooted human social evolution, struggle to keep up with incessant changes; consequently and inexorably experiencing severe difficulties and disorientation. Executives, much bewildered, habitually turn to conventional, time-honoured strategies and practices, which increasingly fail to offer the much-sought answers and means to survival, competitiveness and growth. We are currently experiencing a business era of turbulence and dynamic change – an era that inherently rejects conventionality and orthodox business theory to reward businesses embracing agility, reflex-style adaptability, innovation and creativity. This turbulence is, however, not a parenthesis or even a pattern, but the new reality in which each business must reinvent and redefine itself. This is a new reality of stakeholders that shift focus from the external to the internal, from the tangible to the intangible, and from fact to perception. This book presents research and paradigms that transcend classical theory in order to examine how business practice is positively affected by these conditions. Across a multitude of sectors and organisational types, scholars of different business specialisations set the theoretical foundations of contemporary thinking and present their practical implementations.

Book Success factors for market penetration in CIS countries

Download or read book Success factors for market penetration in CIS countries written by Nataliya Geppert and published by diplom.de. This book was released on 2008-12-10 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inhaltsangabe:Abstract: When investment businesses decide on pursuing a course of market penetration into CIS countries, there is unfortunately now prescribed way for them to follow. They have to plan and implement their entry into the international market according to criteria which they themselves have decided on. They have to ask themselves several questions. Why are we planning to invest in a foreign country? What are our motives and goals with regard to market penetration? In which country we will invest? Which countries should be penetrated first? When will this process begin? Which forms of market penetration should we chose? The main objective of this study is to identify success factors for market penetration with regard to CIS countries. The model for investment businesses is used to define possible entry strategies into the CIS markets, and to analyse these theoretically and empirically. This paper looks closely at investment possibilities in Russia and in three of the CIS countries: the Ukraine, Moldavia and the Republic of Belarus. This study examines the experiences of 26 companies who have penetrated the markets in CIS countries. Download or read book E commerce written by Inga D. Schmidt and published by LIT Verlag Münster. This book was released on 2000 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: According to market forecasts, e-commerce will attain growing importance in the near future: Business transactions are changing. However, until today, the subject lacks profound findings about possible challenges and advantages, as well as about success factors of acceptance. The present book informs about the trends in business-to-consumer e-commerce both from the retailer's and the customer's point of view. Additionally, it contains a case study of a well known U.S. retailer and a corresponding customer survey. Based on the results of this study, customer profiles, market segments and strategies are derived. The study shows that e-commerce is far more than a mere selling and distributing channel. It is a platform for an integrated marketing that takes customers' needs into consideration while at the same time enforces customer focus. While it may be too early to predict its ultimate impacts, e-commerce is certainly a major source of business opportunity today. The greatest threat may be the risk of not acting on this occasion.

Book Emissions Trading

Download or read book Emissions Trading written by Ralf Antes and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-08-12 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Emissions trading challenges the management of companies in an entirely new manner: Not only does it, like other market-based environmental policy instruments, allow for a bigger flexibility in management decisions concerning emission issues. More importantly, it shifts the mode of governance of environmental policy from hierarchy to market. But how is this change reflected in management processes, decisions and organizational structures? The contributions in this book discuss the theoretical implications of different institutional designs of emissions trading schemes, review schemes that have been implemented in the US and Europe, and evaluate the range of investment decisions and corporate strategies which have resulted from the new policy framework.

Book Advanced Planning in Fresh Food Industries

Download or read book Advanced Planning in Fresh Food Industries written by Matthias Lütke Entrup and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-03-30 with total page 249 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Production planning in fresh food industries is a challenging task. Although modern Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS) systems could provide significant support, APS implementation numbers in these industries remain low. Therefore, based on an in-depth analysis of three sample fresh food industries (dairy, fresh and processed meat), the author evaluates what APS systems should offer in order to effectively support production planning and how the leading systems currently handle the most distinguishing characteristic of fresh food industries, the short product shelf life. Starting from the identified weaknesses, customized software solutions for each of the sample industries are proposed that allow to optimize the production of fresh foods with respect to shelf life. The book thereby offers valuable insights not only to researchers but also to software providers of APS systems and professionals from fresh food industries.

Book The Changing Role of SMEs in Global Business

Download or read book The Changing Role of SMEs in Global Business written by Alkis Thrassou and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-11-08 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: SMEs are significant job creators and drivers of innovation and competition in most economic sectors. Furthermore, the traditional constraints of small and medium enterprises, such as geographic operations, are now being dissolved by technological developments. This means that there are new opportunities for SMEs, and their fundamental principles are being redefined: the aims, competencies, strategy, management, practice, and scope of these businesses are changing, with wide-ranging implications. This is the first part of a two volume work that incorporates scientific chapters on SME business theory and practice. Authors provide a balanced perspective of the present and future of SMEs across all business disciplines, including management, strategy, marketing, economics, and finance. While Volume II explores external issues such as contextual forces, the effects of the financial crisis, and macro-economic effects, this first volume focuses on the individual SME and internal issues such as innovation, quality, and digitization.

Book Supply Chain Based Category Strategies for Global Supply Networks

Download or read book Supply Chain Based Category Strategies for Global Supply Networks written by Nikos Moraitakis and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2017-07-26 with total page 293 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From a supply chain perspective, often big differences exist between global raw material suppliers’ approaches to supply their respective local markets. The progressing complexity of large centrally managed global supply networks and their often-unknown upstream ramifications increase the likelihood of undetected bottlenecks and inefficiencies. It is therefore necessary, to develop an approach to strategically master the upstream complexity of such networks from a holistic perspective, in order to align regional competitive priorities and supply chain structures. The research is set in the context of polyamide engineering thermoplastics in the automotive industry. Based on an initial industry analysis and a literature review, a conceptual framework is developed. The framework is matched with existing empirical and theoretical literature, as well as multiple case study analyses in the relevant supply market and a centrally managed global supply network. As a result, strategic group theory is transferred into the supply network management context, to allow for the consideration of upstream supply chain structures in the category strategy development process. The proposed approach introduces strategic groups of supply chains as a segmentation criterion for complex global supply networks, which enables the network-wide alignment of competitive priorities, flexibility requirements, and partnerships with suppliers. Supply chain-based category strategies can effectively reduce the complexity firms are facing in this context. The results of this research are applicable for certain types of global supply networks, and can be used for network alignment and strategy development. The approach can furthermore generate valuable insights useable for negotiation support with suppliers.
