It addresses the teaching of educational administration and leadership from an Islamic perspective by raising issues of globalised educational administration and leadership teaching as it applies in Muslim contexts that vary by culture and social institutions. The book proposes alternative approaches and demonstrates that Islamic traditions have a strong foundation upon which to build in the field and are compatible with many aspects of Western theory and practices, provided that sufficient modifications and adaptations are made. The book focuses on postgraduate curricula and pedagogy, drawing on a range of theoretical foundations and approaches that are culturally and jurisdictionally appropriate in a number of Muslim countries. As such, it contributes to an emerging specialisation in international and comparative educational administration and leadership that is oriented towards a broader and more diverse set of perspectives, particularly from the non-Western world.

Book Islamic Management Practices in Financial Institutions

Download or read book Islamic Management Practices in Financial Institutions written by Khaliq Ahmad and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2021-12-30 with total page 154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book draws on a range of theoretical foundations, approaches and management practices that are culturally and jurisdictionally appropriate in several Muslim countries. As such, it contributes to an emerging specialism in comparative management and leadership theory that is oriented toward a broader and more diverse set of perspectives, particularly from the non-Western world, given that the importance of values, ethics, and culture have recently been recognized as a key contributing factor to management knowledge development. The author offers an in-depth overview of the Islamic management strategies that have successfully been implemented in selected Malaysian banking and non-banking financial institutions and then outlines how the application of such strategies leads to increased integrity, efficiency and performance. The book is divided into three parts. The first part deals with the introduction, historical background and methods used in collection of data. The second part consists of a range of real-world case studies, while part three deals with the approaches to be used in the teaching of these cases followed by conclusions and recommendations. These cases studies map the strategic aspects of organizational structure and illustrate the motives that influence Malaysian managers’ choices in seeking specific responses to the situations at hand, which are in harmony with the traditions in Islamic inquiry. As such, management scholars can build a foundation for conceptual and theoretical propositions relevant to Muslim culture and environment that will have practical significance. The book provides a wealth of information and enables researchers not only to identify the determinants of knowledge structure and its context but also the evolution of practice.

Book Islamic Law and Finance

Download or read book Islamic Law and Finance written by Frank E. Vogel and published by BRILL. This book was released on 1998-01-01 with total page 358 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mirroring the expansion of wealth in the Middle East and Asia and a surge in Islamic self-identity, Islamic banking practices have either become the law of the land or coexist and compete with Western practices in at least six countries. A growing number of institutions and mutual funds (akin to Western ''socially responsible'' funds) have established Islamic investment and other practices to cater to this burgeoning market. Because of its prevalence, practitioners in every banking-related area must familiarize themselves with current Islamic finance practices in order to do business with Muslim clients and to engage in cross-border financing. Injunctions from the "Qur'an and the sayings of Prophet Muhammed have generated a web of interrelated norms which prohibit Islamic financiers from engaging in transactions that involve interest "(riba) and speculation "(gharar). "Islamic Law and Finance describes the dynamic set of Islamically-sanctioned ways financiers can transacat business.

Book An Overview of Islamic Finance

Download or read book An Overview of Islamic Finance written by Mr.Mumtaz Hussain and published by International Monetary Fund. This book was released on 2015-06-02 with total page 35 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Islamic finance has started to grow in international finance across the globe, with some concentration in few countries. Nearly 20 percent annual growth of Islamic finance in recent years seems to point to its resilience and broad appeal, partly owing to principles that govern Islamic financial activities, including equity, participation, and ownership. In theory, Islamic finance is resilient to shocks because of its emphasis on risk sharing, limits on excessive risk taking, and strong link to real activities. Empirical evidence on the stability of Islamic banks, however, is so far mixed. While these banks face similar risks as conventional banks do, they are also exposed to idiosyncratic risks, necessitating a tailoring of current risk management practices. The macroeconomic policy implications of the rapid expansion of Islamic finance are far reaching and need careful considerations.

They address the significance of Islamic theories of property and Islamic land tenure regimes on the 'webs of tenure' prevalent in the Muslim societies. They consider the possibility of using Islamic legal and human rights systems for the development of inclusive, pro-poor approaches to land rights. They also focus on Muslim women's rights to property and inheritance systems. Engaging with institutions such as the Islamic endowment (waqf) and principles of Islamic microfinance, they test the workability of 'authentic' Islamic proposals. Book Economic Empowerment Of Women In The Islamic World Theory And Practice

Download or read book Economic Empowerment Of Women In The Islamic World Theory And Practice written by Toseef Azid and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2020-06-22 with total page 678 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book, Economic Empowerment of Women in the Islamic World, discusses the economic, social, and political rights and status of women in Islam, which is theoretically given by the Islamic Jurisprudence (Shariah law). The chapters in this volume will address historical practices in comparison to the status of women in the contemporary Muslim world. Men and women in Islam, regardless of their age, social class, and education, are equal as citizens and individuals, but not identical in their rights and responsibilities. It can be observed from Islamic history that in the early age of Islam, women were given full confidence, trust, and high responsibilities in leadership, educational guidance, and decision-making.This volume will try to clarify the confusion in the status of the women in Islam that is presented by the media, as it is assumed that theoretical Islamic empowerment of women bears little relation to the real conditions of women in modern Muslim societies. It has been widely claimed in the media that Muslim women suffer more than men in Muslim societies and communities in terms of insecurity, domestic abuse, and low access to education and medical care. It is also stated in the press and media that absence of good governance also results in gender inequality and violation of the rights of Muslim women. This volume also aims to provide the solutions for the empowerment of women in the Islamic world. We assumed that without good governance, the status of women is not likely to improve. Muslim women have the potential to play a fundamental role in curbing corruption, social ills, violence, and crime in the Muslim world. This volume will make the case that in order to achieve stability and prosperity, the government must ensure a platform for women to participate in decision-making and hence benefit from the rights they are accorded in Islam.By covering a range of perspectives on the economic lives of Muslim women around the world, it hopes to shed light on the problems faced and to offer possible solutions to the empowerment of women in the Islamic world.
