Book The Role of the Management Accountant

Download or read book The Role of the Management Accountant written by Lukas Goretzki and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-09-27 with total page 365 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is considerable national variation in the professionalization and status of the management accountant. Although researchers from different countries have contributed to our knowledge about tasks and roles, we have limited insights into the development, education, and socio-cultural influences in different countries and surprisingly little is known about the local and national contexts in which these roles are learned and performed. This book bridges this research gap using two complementary perspectives. The first part explores management accountants in a range of different national contexts, providing information about country-specific historical developments and educational standards as well as specific roles and tasks. The second part focusses on important global developments that will increasingly impact management accountants in the future, such as sustainability, the financial crisis, technology and changing roles. By combining local context with a global overview, this insightful volume provides an agenda for future research which will be of great interest to scholars and advanced students in management accounting throughout the world.

Book Digitization of the Management Accounting Function

Download or read book Digitization of the Management Accounting Function written by Oliver Holtkemper and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-10-27 with total page 135 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book analyzes the impact of digitization on management accounting in five manufacturing companies. It is one of the first in-depth empirical studies on the intersection of management accounting and digitization. The study suggests that there are two archetypes of digitization of the management accounting function. The first archetype emphasizes top-down-driven changes that aim to enhance efficiency, such as conducting tasks with a higher degree of automation in a leaner structure with fewer resources. The second archetype is strongly driven and initiated by employees in the management accounting function (bottom-up). The focus is on improving the use of data by applying innovative analytics methods, integrating additional sources of data, and benefiting from new technologies like artificial intelligence. The results of the study also indicate that digitization of the management accounting function is mostly in line with the overall company strategy.

Book Management Accounting in Supply Chains

Download or read book Management Accounting in Supply Chains written by Andreas Taschner and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-07-15 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Companies more and more compete as integrated supply chains rather than as individual firms. Success of the entire supply chain (SC) determines the economic well-being of the individual company. With management attention shifting to supply chains, the role of management accounting (MAC) naturally must extend to the cross-company layer as well. MAC can make a significant contribution to SC success, but is faced with a multitude of problems and challenges when trying to do so. Students both in supply chain management (SCM) or management accounting (MAC) respectively, are typically not familiarized with these issues. There is still a clear gap in higher education teaching when it comes to management accounting in a cross-company setting. This textbook wants to fill the gap. It targets students who are already familiar with the fundamentals of accounting and now want to extend their expertise in the field of cross-company (or network) management accounting – with supply chains being the typical case in point. Practitioners might draw valuable insights from the text as well. This textbook has been developed for university courses conducted in English language, especially in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
