Book Man Machine Environment System Engineering Proceedings of the 21st International Conference on MMESE

Download or read book Man Machine Environment System Engineering Proceedings of the 21st International Conference on MMESE written by Shengzhao Long and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-09-21 with total page 899 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Man-Machine-Environment System Engineering: Proceedings of the 21st Conference on MMESE is the academic showcase of best research papers selected from more than 500 submissions each year. From this book reader will learn the best research topics and the latest development trend in MMESE design theory and other human-centered system application.MMESE focus mainly on the relationship between Man, Machine and Environment. It studies the optimum combination of man-machine-environment systems. In the system, the Man means the working people as the subject in the workplace (e.g. operator, decision-maker); the Machine means the general name of any object controlled by the Man (including tool, Machinery, Computer, system and technology), the Environment means the specially working conditions under which Man and Machine occupy together(e.g. temperature, noise, vibration, hazardous gases etc.). The three goals of the optimization of the system are safety, efficiency and economy. In 1981 with direct support from one of the greatest modern Chinese scientists, Qian Xuesen, Man-Machine-Environment System Engineering (MMESE), the integrated and advanced science research topic was established in China by Professor Shengzhao Long. In the letter to Shengzhao Long, in October 22nd, 1993, Qian Xuesen wrote: “You have created a very important modern science subject and technology in China!”.

Book excerpt: Man-Machine-Environment System Engineering: Proceedings of the 23rd Conference on MMESE are an academic showcase of the best papers selected from more than 500 submissions, introducing readers to the top research topics and the latest developmental trends in the theory and application of MMESE. This proceedings are interdisciplinary studies on the concepts and methods of physiology, psychology, system engineering, computer science, environment science, management, education, and other related disciplines. Researchers and professionals who study an interdisciplinary subject crossing above disciplines or researchers on MMESE subject will be mainly benefited from this proceedings. MMESE primarily focuses on the relationship between Man, Machine and Environment, studying the optimum combination of man-machine-environment systems. In this system, “Man” refers to working people as the subject in the workplace (e.g. operators, decision-makers); “Machine” is the general name for any object controlled by Man (including tools, machinery, computers, systems and technologies), and “Environment” describes the specific working conditions under which Man and Machine interact (e.g. temperature, noise, vibration, hazardous gases etc.). The three goals of optimization of the man-machine-environment systems are to ensure safety, efficiency and economy. The integrated and advanced science research topic Man-Machine-Environment System Engineering (MMESE) was first established in China by Professor Shengzhao Long in 1981, with direct support from one of the greatest modern Chinese scientists, Xuesen Qian. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This handbook attempts to translate data on various parameters of man's capability in underwater and hyperbaric environments for those without a background in the life sciences. Accomplishing any multifaceted task requires team work, and effective team work depends on facile communication among all participants. To communicate properly, all parties must understand each other's problems and be able to speak a similar language. To this end we believe that this publication will go a long way in furthering the understanding and communication necessary for maximum achievement. The U. S. Navy has a fundamental interest in all types of activities connected with the ocean and is especially interested in the growing field of manned underwater and hyperbaric activities. Thus, the manuscript for this comprehensive book was developed under Office of Naval Research contract N00014-67-A-0214-0013 with The George Washington University. We acknowledge with appreciation the financial support and technical guidance for this undertaking by the Naval Medical Research and Develop ment Command of the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery as well as by the Engineering Psychology Program and the Physiology Program of the Office of Naval Research. JOSEPH P. POLLARD Director Biological and Medical Sciences Division Office of Naval Research vii Preface A need was felt for a book that would document the relationship of the human being to the underwater hyperbaric environment in such a way that the individual unfamiliar with the psychological or biomedical jargon could still understand and appreciate the information.

Book A Water immersion Technique for the Study of Mobility of a Pressure suited Subject Under Balanced gravity Conditions

Download or read book A Water immersion Technique for the Study of Mobility of a Pressure suited Subject Under Balanced gravity Conditions written by Otto Trout (F.) and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 38 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A technique for simulating zero-gravity performance of an astronaut in a pressurized spacesuit by complete water immersion has been developed and investigated. The technique allows the pressure-suited subject to move in six degrees of freedom without the encumbrance of connecting lines or hoses or other supports and further permits performance simulation of long-duration tasks. Experiments were made to demonstrate the relationships between the maneuvers performed by a pressure-suited subject under weightless conditions produced by water-immersion and zero-gravity aircraft flights and those performed under full-gravity conditions. An overall description of the test procedures, pressure suit and modifications, self-contained gas-supply breathing system, and methods for obtaining neutral buoyancy is provided. The tests demonstrated that the simulation technique is useful for premission determination of critical operational characteristics relating to spacecraft and spacesuit design under conditions of zero gravity. In addition, the physical capabilities of man and his ability to perform useful work and maneuvers in a pressurized suit under simulated zero-gravity conditions can be demonstrated by this technique. Test variables included time, suit pressure, and simulation mode. Comparison of the subject?5 motion behavior between the aircraft and water-immersion tests showed that the water-immersion technique is valid where the velocities are low.
