Book A Key to Soviet Politics

Download or read book A Key to Soviet Politics written by Roger Pethybridge and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2021-11-29 with total page 116 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First Published in 1962, A Key to Soviet Politics is the first full scale attempt to analyse the internal struggle for power in Russia since 1957. The changes in the Soviet government after the ‘Crisis’ of June 1957 are probably better documented than perhaps any other political upheaval in Soviet history, because Soviet press and party journals devoted an unusual amount of attention to the June Crisis and because information on the crisis was allowed to leak out slowly in the subsequent fall of Zhukov in 1957 and Bulganin in 1958, and the renewed attack on the ‘Anti-party’ group at the Party Congresses in 1959 and 1961. Roger Pethybridge argues that this crisis of the ‘Anti-party’ group in fact illuminated many other related topics in Soviet politics. This book will be an essential read for scholars and researchers of Soviet history, Soviet politics, European history, Russian history, and comparative politics.

Book excerpt: PARADIGM OF DECEPTION is a riveting real-life thriller rooted in the people of our times, where power, greed, ruthless politics, and murder are everyday affairs. Unbridled individualists and criminals pluck a country's natural resources and industrial fruits like ripe melons from an unguarded plot, producing extreme wealth they spend conspicuously on material delights of every description. Through control of oil, Arabs wield power and manipulate nations, enriching themselves while trying to force Islam on humanity through conspiracy and terror, with no fear of retribution from anyone. The Russian Mafia and political leaders rape their country's resources and control its economy for personal benefit. What happens when one man decides he can change it all? What ensues is a clash of personalities, gladiatorial conflict, and fight for survival, spawning intrigue, violence, and reprisal. The mind of man involuntarily conceptualizes from birth; it's how our beliefs and opinions are formed. How wrong can we be? Who is that dark-complected stranger sitting with us on the plane? Are our friends really who we think they are? Are there among us those who seek to harm us? Of course we know these things exist, but how close are they? You will discover how close as you live with these people in this fast-paced electrifying thriller.

Book Encyclopedia of the Cold War

Download or read book Encyclopedia of the Cold War written by Ruud van Dijk and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-05-13 with total page 2361 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Between 1945 and 1991, tension between the USA, its allies, and a group of nations led by the USSR, dominated world politics. This period was called the Cold War – a conflict that stopped short to a full-blown war. Benefiting from the recent research of newly open archives, the Encyclopedia of the Cold War discusses how this state of perpetual tensions arose, developed, and was resolved. This work examines the military, economic, diplomatic, and political evolution of the conflict as well as its impact on the different regions and cultures of the world. Using a unique geopolitical approach that will present Russian perspectives and others, the work covers all aspects of the Cold War, from communism to nuclear escalation and from UFOs to red diaper babies, highlighting its vast-ranging and lasting impact on international relations as well as on daily life. Although the work will focus on the 1945–1991 period, it will explore the roots of the conflict, starting with the formation of the Soviet state, and its legacy to the present day.
