Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Malchus' Ear is a biblical novel that focuses on the chief servant of the high priest Caiaphas. When sent to learn the truth about a roaming prophet named Yeshua from Nazareth, Malchus encounters a series of experiences that drastically alter the world in which he lives and also reshape his own personal life. Along the way, Malchus observes Yeshua first-hand and meets one of his followers, a man named Yehuda from Kerioth, who involves him in a scheme to force Yeshua to reveal his true nature and purpose. This novel offers readers a fresh look at the Jesus saga and places the main characters of the gospels in a context that humanizes them and provides a complex, yet balanced, view of their motives. In addition, it presents Caiaphas and other Jewish leaders in a realistic way that avoids stereotyping them, while retaining the tension between their religious devotion on the one hand and forced allegiance to Rome on the other. Malchus' Ear is a personal look at life in the first century world of Judea and Galilee that allows readers to re-experience the story of Jesus in a way that avoids both a literal repetition of the gospels and an over-sentimentalized treatment of them.

Book The Failure of Death

    Book Details:
  • Author : Paul Murray
  • Publisher : Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.
  • Release : 2020-06-22

Download or read book The Failure of Death written by Paul Murray and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2020-06-22 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In The Failure of Death, John records the greatest conflict planet earth has ever experienced. It is not a conflict between nations or peoples, nor a conflict involving military weapons. It is a conflict for the hearts and souls of all men everywhere. It is a conflict in the spiritual dimension of reality that has raged on since the beginning of time, a conflict between good and evil, right and wrong. The Jewish leadership had grown to hate Jesus. Several times they had tried, unsuccessfully, to put a stop to His influence over men. The prophetic words of Caiaphas the high priest had finally come to fruition, "It is expedient for you that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation should not perish." Jesus had finally been arrested, "tried" and crucified to appease the will of the Jewish leadership. Victory had finally been achieved in stopping the madness of The Way. The head of the snake had been cut off. John focuses our attention around two major players as the events of Jesus' crucifixion unfold, Peter and Pilate. With Peter a clear contrast is drawn between One suffering and dying and the other lying and denying. Pilate's struggle, who is caught up in the tangled web of the Jews, is expressed in the profound question, "What is truth?" Yet Pilate turns and walks away before the One who is "the truth" has a chance to respond. Neither Peter or Pilate, nor anyone expected that the One who had been crucified and buried would raise from the dead. The failure of death rocked the world in the first century and it continues to rock our world today. John concludes his gospel with the redemption of the lying denier. Pilate, on the other hand, is left on the trash pile of history. As you read, you will be caught up in the trauma and emotions of the events that unfold. Will the failure of death be your final reward? Like Peter and Pilate, you also have a choice!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke are filled with well-known accounts of the miracles Christ performed. Christians love to reflect on Christ’s healing of the Gadarene demoniac, His raising to life Jairus’s daughter, and His bountifully providing food for five thousand hungry listeners. But author Gerald M. Bilkes doesn’t want us to study these miracles just because they are loved or well known. He wants us to value them for what they teach us about Christ. He writes, “When we study the miracles, we should never lose sight of the glorious and magnificent Christ who performed them. He still performs miracles in hearts and lives. These things should astound us no less than the miracles He did when He was on earth.” This heart-warming, experiential look at twenty-two of Christ’s miracles, with questions following each chapter, is an excellent tool for personal or group Bible study and will lead you to the cross, the empty tomb, and the God who purposed and performed these important events of Scripture.
