Big Nate meets DanTDM in a debut middle grade adventure by social media superstar Zach King. The book comes complete with a code for a downloadable app that brings Zach’s vibrant world to fully animated, three-dimensional life. His father can turn back time, his sister can turn invisible, and his mother can transform any object into something else. And Zach…well, he hasn’t found his magical power yet and his family is growing worried that he’s been “skipped.” So his parents decide to stop homeschooling him in magical arts and send him instead to a regular middle school with regular kids. To Zach, it’s the worst news ever. Who wants to be ordinary when everyone around them is extraordinary? But Zach quickly learns that going to regular school with regular kids isn’t all that bad. Who knew having real friends would be so much fun? And just when Zach least expects it, he discovers a pair of magical snapbacks that might just be the magical thing he’s been looking for his whole life. The only thing standing in his way is the school bully, Tricia Stands. She’s determined to make sure Zach doesn’t get more popular than she is, and so she plans a prank so awful, so evil, it could cause the biggest disaster Horace Greeley Middle School has ever seen. For fans of Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Timmy Failure, and DanTDM: Trayaurus and the Enchanted Crystal and anyone who’s ever wondered where they belong, this is the perfect book for you.
Download or read book You Can Do Anything Magic Skeleton written by Chuck Wendig and published by Rizzoli Publications. This book was released on 2021-04-13 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the tradition of inspirational pick-me-ups like Lin-Manuel Miranda and Johnny Sun's G'Morning, G'Night but with a Calvin & Hobbesian sensibility comes this whimsically nerdy spin, illustrated by Natalie Metzger, on motivating folks into getting creative and "DOING THE THINGS." For several years, Chuck has crafted hilarious and inspirational thoughts of the day--they might begin with an optimistic salvo, but inevitably and mirthfully detour into the demon-summoning, robot-making, or confirming that humans are actually mythical hybrid creatures. Equal parts inspiring, sweet, and very funny, Wendig's profane and imaginative galvanizing quips in You Can Do Anything, Magic Skeleton! are sure to amp up readers and motivate them to get things done.

Book excerpt: A heartfelt story about friendship, hope, and forgiveness: two childhood friends, Maggie and Lizzy, seek self-discovery and personal healing. They ultimately find inspiration after searching to reveal the reasons for Maggie’s lifelong tendencies toward self-denial as the “great pretender.” A courageous book which stirs the soul, this novel demonstrates that the written word is far from silent. This journey of healing undoubtedly leaves a lasting impression, as it not only provides divine inspiration to accept life’s disappointments but also recognition of the compelling power of forgiveness. After all, if the heart truly forgives, there is nothing to forget. ENDORSEMENTS: “Like brisk winds over calm waters—this story stirs the heart to find forgiveness and the soul to heal. Where the sacred and profane converge, Margaret McBride embraces divine inspiration!” —Katrina Arnim, consultant “Great feel-good book! The folksy language and loveable characters drew me in as I anticipated the meaning of the hints sprinkled along the way. The end was fantastic—filled with surprising ‘ah-ha’ moments and shocking twists.” —Kim Stiles, author of Motivation for Mom series “Although That Melvin Bray is a novel that unravels a mystery, it is also a story about friendship as growing old together is also the ability of staying “young together.” A friend is often a mirror of ourselves—this novel is a marvelous reflection of a very comfortable, trusting friendship.” —NY Times bestselling author G.B. Giorgio “That Melvin Bray filled my heart with joy, laughter, humility, reverence, and rage. Margaret McBride has combined all those emotions to create an unforgettable memory for every reader to share.” —Maureen Mayberry, landscape artist

Download or read book Scenes of Projection written by Jill H. Casid and published by U of Minnesota Press. This book was released on 2015-01-01 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Theorizing vision and power at the intersections of the histories of psychoanalysis, media, scientific method, and colonization, Scenes of Projection poaches the prized instruments at the heart of the so-called scientific revolution: the projecting telescope, camera obscura, magic lantern, solar microscope, and prism. From the beginnings of what is retrospectively enshrined as the origins of the Enlightenment and in the wake of colonization, the scene of projection has functioned as a contraption for creating a fantasy subject of discarnate vision for the exercise of “reason.” Jill H. Casid demonstrates across a range of sites that the scene of projection is neither a static diagram of power nor a fixed architecture but rather a pedagogical setup that operates as an influencing machine of persistent training. Thinking with queer and feminist art projects that take up old devices for casting an image to reorient this apparatus of power that produces its subject, Scenes of Projection offers a set of theses on the possibilities for felt embodiment out of the damaged and difficult pasts that haunt our present.
