Pulled into a city of innumerable temptations and exalted to a position of power and authority, he fights to keep himself grounded. An ancient sect of Seers-the Ma-ji-seeks him out. They recognize in him the ability to see farther into the future then anyone else has ever gone, and they know how much the dark forces covet this knowledge. With his three best friends alongside, Daniel must face disappointment in their actions as well as his own. Daniel's dreams led him on a quest for the fabled "Twelve Masks of Life." These masks hold the key to a power that sets minds free. They are the source of creativity on this planet. The created becomes the Creator.the control of all future civilizations lies in the balance. Truth becomes skewed and Daniel's innocence will be lost. Daniel is a dreamer, and a dreamer dreams. It is the dark image of unrelenting strength that comes to him, forcing submission on the weak, but it is the meek that shall prevail. Daniel must endure Abed's fall from an unwise path. He must watch as his mentor and spirit-guide is stripped away from this life by those who would use knowledge to further their own personal ends. To know one's place and to fight for the good of all creatures is the journey of the heart.

Book Cosmos and Revelation

Download or read book Cosmos and Revelation written by Peter R. Stork and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2021-09-30 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Science and technology have profoundly altered the cosmic and societal perceptions of the world. Regrettably, the Christian imagination has not kept pace. Most believers still adhere to pre-scientific views. Cosmos and Revelation urges the Christian community to reimagine God's creation by engaging the data of science. For if God has indeed brought forth an intelligible world for us to explore through scientific research, those who profess this faith ought to, as a minimum, allow scientific findings to expand their theological horizon. Drawing on his scientific qualification and academic background in theology, Peter R. Stork opens several windows on God's creation, from galactic star nurseries to the wonderland of living cells. After rereading Genesis 1 and 2, the author interlaces examples and reflections to present a coherent yet provocative sketch of the new landscape that spreads out before us, leaving it to his readers to intuit for themselves the immensities Christians are challenged to embrace in the age of science.

Book The Victor Sayings in the Book of Revelation

Download or read book The Victor Sayings in the Book of Revelation written by Mark Wilson and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2007-10-01 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first major study to focus solely on the victor sayings and should prove invaluable to scholars and students of Revelation and apocalyptic literature. It demonstrates that the motif of victory is Revelation's macrodynamic theme. Chiasmus is proposed as the book's macrostructure, based in part on the chiastic nature of the promises to the victors, with the later fulfillment of these promises in the book. The proposed forms for the seven letters--forms such as edicts, oracles, and epistles--are examined, and it is concluded that they are a mixtum compositum best called "prophetic letters." The sociological significance of victory is explored within the Greco-Roman world. The text of the promises and their co-texts (as reflected intertextually in traditions of biblical literature) receive thorough examination. The eschatological fulfillment of the victor sayings is surveyed in Revelation's later chapters, especially in chapters 21-22, where the new Jerusalem is depicted. The study concludes with an investigation of the ways that the promises were appropriated for the time and the text world of Revelation.

Book A Critical Examination of the Doctrine of Revelation in Evangelical Theology

Download or read book A Critical Examination of the Doctrine of Revelation in Evangelical Theology written by Carisa A. Ash and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2015-07-14 with total page 211 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How God reveals himself is an important matter for Christians, especially evangelicals. For too long, Carisa Ash contends, evangelicals have rightly affirmed that God reveals through the created world, but then they functionally neglect such revelation. In this monograph Ash offers a corrective to this practice by presenting a theology of revelation that explores the commonalities between various forms of revelation (world, written and spoken word, and Incarnate Word). Particularly aimed at theologians interested in theological method, Ash's study will also benefit people interested in faith and learning or interdisciplinary integration. Ash argues that evangelicals must strive to align more closely their affirmations and their practice. Her critique of current practices in theological method and integration, along with the proposed theology of revelation, are designed to help move the conversation forward.

Book Revelation and Redemption at Colossae

Download or read book Revelation and Redemption at Colossae written by Thomas J. Sappington and published by A&C Black. This book was released on 1991-01-01 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recent research in the field of Jewish apocalypticism has opened the way to a fuller understanding of the problem addressed in Colossians. In Part I, Sappington explores the ascetic-mystical piety underlying the Jewish apocalypses. In Part II, he argues that there is a striking correspondence between this phenomenon and the error that threatened the church at Colossae. Finally, Sappington analyses Paul's response to the error, arguing that the themes of 'revelation' (Col. 2.1-5) and 'redemption' (Col. 2.9-15) are critical to our understanding of Paul's exposition.>

Book Morphological and Syntactical Irregularities in the Book of Revelation

Download or read book Morphological and Syntactical Irregularities in the Book of Revelation written by Laurențiu Moț and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2015-03-31 with total page 301 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Morphological and Syntactical Irregularities in the Book of Revelation by Laurențiu Florentin Moț is an approach to the solecisms of Johannine Apocalypse from a Greek perspective. The work aims at demonstrating that, in accord with Second Language Acquisition studies, Semitic transfer in Revelation is extremely rare. Most of its linguistic peculiarities can be explained within the context of the Greek language. Morphological and Syntactical Irregularities in the Book of Revelation is unique in several ways. First, it deals with the most comprehensive list of solecisms. Second, it treats grammatical irregularities in their own right, looking at their cause, explanation, and contribution to the interpretation of the text. Third, it is interdisciplinary, bringing together textual criticism, Greek linguistics, and NT exegesis.

Book excerpt: How and why has God spoken to us? Answering these questions involves the immense topic of divine revelation. Our purpose in this book is to provide a biblical study of the various types and purposes of the myriad of different methods of divine revelation. In the process we endeavor to answer such critical and controversial questions as: - How do we know when God is 'speaking'? - What has been the progression of divine revelation? - What are the only two methods of revelation that God uses to communicate to all of humanity? - Why is Scripture so authoritative and sufficient for the Christian life? - What are the several vital but often neglected ways that God "speaks" to us apart from Scripture? - How does God expect us to make decisions and does He have a "personal" will for our lives that cannot be found in Scripture? - Does God "speak" to us by planting thoughts in our mind?
