Book M canique des milieux continus

Download or read book M canique des milieux continus written by Jean Coirier and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 493 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Continuum Mechanics Through the Twentieth Century

Download or read book Continuum Mechanics Through the Twentieth Century written by Gerard A Maugin and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-08 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This overview of the development of continuum mechanics throughout the twentieth century is unique and ambitious. Utilizing a historical perspective, it combines an exposition on the technical progress made in the field and a marked interest in the role played by remarkable individuals and scientific schools and institutions on a rapidly evolving social background. It underlines the newly raised technical questions and their answers, and the ongoing reflections on the bases of continuum mechanics associated, or in competition, with other branches of the physical sciences, including thermodynamics. The emphasis is placed on the development of a more realistic modeling of deformable solids and the exploitation of new mathematical tools. The book presents a balanced appraisal of advances made in various parts of the world. The author contributes his technical expertise, personal recollections, and international experience to this general overview, which is very informative albeit concise.

Book Mechanics of Continuous Media and Analysis of Structures

Download or read book Mechanics of Continuous Media and Analysis of Structures written by R. Valid and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mechanics of Continuous Media and Analysis of Structures is a six-chapter book that begins by elucidating the mechanics of solid continuous media. Book Mechanics of Generalized Continua

Download or read book Mechanics of Generalized Continua written by Gérard A. Maugin and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-03-24 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In their 1909 publication Théorie des corps déformables, Eugène and François Cosserat made a historic contribution to materials science by establishing the fundamental principles of the mechanics of generalized continua. The chapters collected in this volume showcase the many areas of continuum mechanics that grew out of the foundational work of the Cosserat brothers. The included contributions provide a detailed survey of the most recent theoretical developments in the field of generalized continuum mechanics and can serve as a useful reference for graduate students and researchers in mechanical engineering, materials science, applied physics and applied mathematics.

Book Mathematical Modeling in Continuum Mechanics

Download or read book Mathematical Modeling in Continuum Mechanics written by Roger Temam and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2005-05-19 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Temam and Miranville present core topics within the general themes of fluid and solid mechanics. The brisk style allows the text to cover a wide range of topics including viscous flow, magnetohydrodynamics, atmospheric flows, shock equations, turbulence, nonlinear solid mechanics, solitons, and the nonlinear Schrödinger equation. This second edition will be a unique resource for those studying continuum mechanics at the advanced undergraduate and beginning graduate level whether in engineering, mathematics, physics or the applied sciences. Exercises and hints for solutions have been added to the majority of chapters, and the final part on solid mechanics has been substantially expanded. These additions have now made it appropriate for use as a textbook, but it also remains an ideal reference book for students and anyone interested in continuum mechanics.

Book Vibration in Continuous Media

Download or read book Vibration in Continuous Media written by and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-03-28 with total page 295 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Three aspects are developed in this book: modeling, a description of the phenomena and computation methods. A particular effort has been made to provide a clear understanding of the limits associated with each modeling approach. Examples of applications are used throughout the book to provide a better understanding of the material presented.

Book Mechanics of Geomaterial Interfaces

Download or read book Mechanics of Geomaterial Interfaces written by A.P.S. Selvadurai and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1995-01-30 with total page 569 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The subject of geomaterial interfaces recognizes the important influences of the interface behaviour on the performance of interfaces involving cementaceous materials such as concrete and steel, ice-structure interfaces, concrete-rock interfaces and interfaces encountered in soil reinforcement. During the past two decades, the subject of geomaterial interfaces has attracted the concerted attention of scientists and engineers both in geomechanics and applied mechanics. These efforts have been largely due to the observation that the conventional idealizations of the behaviour of interfaces between materials by frictionless contact, bonded contact, Coulomb friction or finite friction tend to omit many interesting and important influences of special relevance to geomaterials. The significant manner in which non-linear effects, dilatancy, contact degradation, hardening and softening, etc., can influence the behaviour of the interface is borne out by experimental evidence. As a result, in many instances, the response of the interface can be the governing criterion in the performance of a geomechanics problem. The primary objective of this volume is to provide a documentation of recent advances in the area of geomaterial interfaces. The volume consists of subject groupings which cover ice-structure, soil-structure and steel-concrete interfaces, mechanics of rock and concrete joints and interfaces in discrete systems.

Book Damage Mechanics in Metal Forming

Download or read book Damage Mechanics in Metal Forming written by Khemais Saanouni and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-02-04 with total page 397 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this book is to summarize the current most effective methods for modeling, simulating, and optimizing metal forming processes, and to present the main features of new, innovative methods currently being developed which will no doubt be the industrial tools of tomorrow. It discusses damage (or defect) prediction in virtual metal forming, using advanced multiphysical and multiscale fully coupled constitutive equations. Theoretical formulation, numerical aspects as well as application to various sheet and bulk metal forming are presented in detail. Virtual metal forming is nowadays inescapable when looking to optimize numerically various metal forming processes in order to design advanced mechanical components. To do this, highly predictive constitutive equations accounting for the full coupling between various physical phenomena at various scales under large deformation including the ductile damage occurrence are required. In addition, fully 3D adaptive numerical methods related to time and space discretization are required in order to solve accurately the associated initial and boundary value problems. This book focuses on these two main and complementary aspects with application to a wide range of metal forming and machining processes. Contents 1. Elements of Continuum Mechanics and Thermodynamics. 2. Thermomechanically-Consistent Modeling of the Metals Behavior with Ductile Damage. 3. Numerical Methods for Solving Metal Forming Problems. 4. Application to Virtual Metal Forming.
