Los problemas más frecuentes en la mujer son la falta de deseo, molestias, dolores vaginales al realizar la penetración o imposibilidad de la misma y la dificultad para conseguir el orgasmo. En el hombre los problemas de disfunción eréctil, eyaculación precoz o retardada junto a la dificultad para complacer a su pareja son los más habituales. El objetivo es ayudarle a mejorar sus problemas de deseo sexual, superar sus miedos, sus dudas sobre qué hacer si padece un problema sexual. El primer volumen es la base donde se define lo que es un problema sexual, las fases de la respuesta sexual y el protocolo IDIES (Información, Diagnóstico, Indicaciones, Evaluación y Seguimiento) para los diferentes problemas que puedan surgir en las relaciones sexuales y de pareja, mostrando los aspectos prácticos de las técnicas utilizadas en la terapia sexual y los diferentes problemas y disfunciones masculinas y femeninas.
