  • Publisher : P & R Publishing
  • Release : 2009
  • ISBN : 9781596381599
  • Pages : 0 pages

Download or read book The Christ of Christmas written by James Montgomery Boice and published by P & R Publishing. This book was released on 2009 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Christmas story evokes many touching images. Halos, fresh hay, shepherds carrying newborn lambs, and young motherhood in blue homespun. It's enough to bring tears to the eyes of Christmastime churchgoers. But the Christmas story is more than sentimental--it is powerful. It deals with real people, it involves pain, and it is one of the most strikingly unusual stories in all history. Above all, its main emphasis is not on the infancy of Jesus but on the deity of Jesus--and why that deity took the form of an infant. It's a story that still has deep meaning today.

Book A Modern Nativity Story

Download or read book A Modern Nativity Story written by Emma Hope and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2015-12-18 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The nativity story is a wonderful Christmas story that has been told from generation to generation. We all love to see children enjoying this enjoyable representation of the birth of Jesus, with smiles and laughter often being part of the play. It is the highlight of the year, for some... The idea of writing the nativity story through e-mails, poetry and acronyms is an attempt to make it fun in a similar ad hoc way, and as a modern audience, we see things from the perspective of the digital age. Although so many people have seen the 3WYM (Three Wise Men) attend the birth of Jesus in nativity plays, it is believed that they actually followed the star about a year and a half after the birth of Jesus, and this led them to Mary and Joseph's son. Also, it is known that three gifts were brought, yet there is no mention of there being 'three' wise men, and the number is simply something that has been passed on from one generation to the next over the years, through oral tradition initially. Therefore, the nativity story, which brings with it joy and wonder, is being retold in this book - I hope that the characters come to life for you, as much as they did for me when I wrote it. Anything in written form is never going to be as delightful as the wonderful sight of children performing the nativity play, but I hope that this book offers at least another perspective on the world famous nativity story!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This hugely successful Christmas favourite has been completely reworked for modern knitters. The pieces have all been knitted in today's yarns, taking advantage of the variety of sparkling and novelty yarns now available, and the nativity scene has been recreated and photographed using Jan Messent's excellent patterns and instructions. The nativity scene is small enough to be manageable yet large enough for many people to have a hand in its making, from the older, more experienced knitter to the youngest beginner; there is even a yarn wrapping activity for young fingers (the making of the stable wall), making this the perfect project for a school, church, knitting group, family or community. The materials needed are simple and inexpensive; the knitted figures and items are assembled using box card, and the patterns allow for individual interpretation in the yarn and stitch patterns. The knitting patterns are clearly presented and there is plenty of advice on all the knitting processes. Full patterns, diagrams and drawings show how to make the stable and stars, Mary, Joseph, the infant and manger, an ox, donkey and sheep, shepherds, an angel, children and wise men. Knit and assemble your own beautiful nativity scene to be enjoyed for years to come.
