Book Migration and Urbanization Local Solutions for Global Economic Challenges

Download or read book Migration and Urbanization Local Solutions for Global Economic Challenges written by Ushakov, Denis and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2019-08-16 with total page 390 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: International migration and urbanization as economic processes can provide great opportunities to solve local and regional economic and social problems and lead to the leveling of global economic unfairness and multi-complexity. However, uncontrolled migration and urbanization can easily destroy market stability and create many new social and economic problems both in developed (due to migration) and developing (due to urbanization) countries. Migration and Urbanization: Local Solutions for Global Economic Challenges is a collection of innovative research that sets basic rules and patterns for state regulation of urbanization and international migration and for increasing the economic efficiency of developed and developing countries. Additionally, the book evaluates the economic impact of urbanization and international migration at the global, national, and regional levels. While highlighting topics including economic security, modern mechanisms, and migration policy, this book is ideally designed for government officials, economists, educators, policymakers, industry leaders, business managers, academicians, researchers, and students.

Book Mechanical Systems Classical Models

Download or read book Mechanical Systems Classical Models written by Petre P. Teodorescu and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-09-30 with total page 781 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All phenomena in nature are characterized by motion. Mechanics deals with the objective laws of mechanical motion of bodies, the simplest form of motion. In the study of a science of nature, mathematics plays an important rôle. Mechanics is the first science of nature which has been expressed in terms of mathematics, by considering various mathematical models, associated to phenomena of the surrounding nature. Thus, its development was influenced by the use of a strong mathematical tool. As it was already seen in the first two volumes of the present book, its guideline is precisely the mathematical model of mechanics. The classical models which we refer to are in fact models based on the Newtonian model of mechanics, that is on its five principles, i.e.: the inertia, the forces action, the action and reaction, the independence of the forces action and the initial conditions principle, respectively. Other models, e.g., the model of attraction forces between the particles of a discrete mechanical system, are part of the considered Newtonian model. Kepler’s laws brilliantly verify this model in case of velocities much smaller then the light velocity in vacuum.

Book Women Artists in Interwar France

Download or read book Women Artists in Interwar France written by PaulaJ. Birnbaum and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-07-05 with total page 358 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Women Artists in Interwar France: Framing Femininities illuminates the importance of the Soci? des Femmes Artists Modernes, more commonly known as FAM, and returns this group to its proper place in the history of modern art. In particular, this volume explores how FAM and its most famous members?Suzanne Valadon, Marie Laurencin, and Tamara de Lempicka?brought a new approach to the most prominent themes of female embodiment: the self-portrait, motherhood, and the female nude. These women reimagined art's conventions and changed the direction of both art history and the politics of their contemporary art world. FAM has been excluded from histories of modern art despite its prominence during the interwar years. Paula Birnbaum's study redresses this omission, contextualizing the group's legacy in light of the conservative politics of 1930s France. The group's artistic response to the reactionary views and images of women at the time is shown to be a key element in the narrative of modernist formalism. Although many FAM works are missing?one reason for the lack of attention paid to their efforts?Birnbaum's extensive research, through archives, press clippings, and first-hand interviews with artists' families, reclaims FAM as an important chapter in the history of art from the interwar years.

Book Paris Capital of Fashion

    Book Details:
  • Author : Valerie Steele
  • Publisher : Bloomsbury Publishing
  • Release : 2019-09-05
  • ISBN : 1350102962
  • Pages : 217 pages

Download or read book Paris Capital of Fashion written by Valerie Steele and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2019-09-05 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Paris, Capital of Fashion accompanies a major exhibition at The Museum at FIT, New York's only museum dedicated solely to the art of fashion. This lavishly-illustrated book is edited by MFIT's director and chief curator, Valerie Steele, also the author of the acclaimed Paris Fashion: A Cultural History. This new book opens with an important essay on how and why Paris became famous as the international “capital of fashion.” Steele traces how the mythic “aura” of Paris fashion was constructed over generations, as the splendour of the court at Versailles came to be echoed by the spectacle of the haute couture. Yet Paris has faced repeated challenges from other fashion capitals, especially London, Milan, and New York. Essays by Christopher Breward, David Gilbert, Grazia d'Annunzio, and Antonia Finnane place Paris within a broader global narrative, while Sophie Kurkdjian investigates the cultural value of the Parisian couture, and Agnès Rocomora explores the online imagery of the chic Parisienne. As The New Yorker recently put it, Paris is “the most glamorous and competitive of the world's fashion capitals.” No other city has been branded “Fashion” as Paris has. By opening the study of Paris fashion to new approaches, this book explains why Paris still retains its position as the world's undisputed fashion capital.
