Download or read book Lola T70 Owner s Workshop Manual written by Chas Parker and published by Haynes Publishing UK. This book was released on 2019-09-24 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Lola T70 was developed in 1965 for sports car racing – Lola built the chassis, which were typically powered by large American V8 engines, predominantly Chevrolets and Fords. The T70 was prolific throughout the mid- to late-1960s, and over 100 examples were built in three versions – both open-topped and coupé models. The first successes for the T70 were in the US, and in 1966, the T70 dominated the Can-Am championship, winning five of the six races in the series – with John Surtees becoming champion in a Chevrolet-powered example. In 1968, T70s finished 1 - 2 in the Daytona 24 Hours, and the T70 was highly successful in the domestic UK and European championships, winning regularly. Today, Lola T70s are regular competitors on the historic racing scene, and examples are highly sought after by collectors. This Lola T70 Owner's Workshop Manual looks at the design, evolution, anatomy and operation of the T70.

Book McLaren MP4 4 Owners Workshop Manual

Download or read book McLaren MP4 4 Owners Workshop Manual written by Steve Rendle and published by Haynes Publishing UK. This book was released on 2018-06-19 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The McLaren MP4/4 is the iconic Honda V6 turbo-powered F1 car built by McLaren for the 1988 grand prix season, driven by Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost. Remarkably, the car won all but one race during 1988, and took McLaren’s then-new recruit Senna to his first Drivers’ World Championship after a season-long battle with team-mate Prost. McLaren achieved an astonishing 10 one–two finishes with the car, and suffered only two car-related retirements during the season. The MP4/4 is still statistically the most dominant F1 car ever built. Ironically, the fact that McLaren was already an enormously successful and well-resourced team prior to 1988 has led to the assumption that producing another winning car in the form of the MP4/4 was simply business as usual. The truth is rather different, with many challenges along the way, mistakes to resolve and, as ever in motor racing, an element of luck, all playing a part in the MP4/4’s extraordinary success. A wealth of previously unpublished archive material, including original technical drawings and team documentation, provides fascinating new insight into the design and build of the MP4/4. Produced with the full cooperation of McLaren, and unique access to a race-winning MP4/4 chassis, this manual tells for the first time the accurate story of the design, engineering and operation of one of F1’s most iconic cars, featuring extensive and often candid input from the designers, engineers and drivers involved. The McLaren story: Brief history of McLaren prior to the MP4/4 and subsequent history to the present day. Design and build of the MP4/4: The full story of how a completely new car, along with a one-off Honda engine, were designed and built for the 1988 season. The MP4/4 in action: A race-by-race account of the MP4/4’s performance in the 1988 World Championship. The anatomy of the MP4/4: Chassis, aerodynamics, suspension, steering, brakes, Honda engine, transmission, wheels and tyres, cockpit and electrics. The drivers: Insight from Alain Prost and test-driver Emanuele Pirro, plus a profile of Ayrton Senna with thoughts from his former teammates. Appendices: Specifications, race results and statistics and full chassis histories.

Book excerpt: The First Three Shelby Cobras, the third book in the acclaimed Exceptional Cars series, tells the story of three remarkable cars, the first AC Cobras created by the legendary Carroll Shelby in 1962 and now favorites of sports-car enthusiasts throughout the world. The prototype CSX2000 has been described as the “most important American car”, although it was built on a British AC Ace chassis with an American Ford V8 engine. It was retained by the Shelby family until 2016, when it sold at auction for a record $13.75 million. CSX2001 was the first production Cobra, and was delivered to American racing driver Ed Hugus. It was later sold to Frenchman Jean-Marie Vincent, who raced in the Tour de France and in numerous European hillclimbs. CSX2002 was the first Cobra to race and nearly won its inaugural outing at Riverside, driven by Bill Krause, until sidelined by a broken rear hub. It did take the first ever Cobra win, with Dave MacDonald at Tucson in March 1963. Its success led to a series of competition wins that made Shelby's Cobras famous and admired across the globe. All three cars are now the pride of car collections in the United States of America. CSX2000 and CSX2002 are part of the Larry Miller Collection, and CSX2001 belongs to California-based motorsport aficionado Bruce Meyer.

Book excerpt: "I will build a car for the great multitude," stated Henry Ford, and so he did. The Ford Model T, or the 'Tin Lizzie' and the 'Flivver' as it was also known, transformed American society, bringing mobility through car ownership to millions of middle-class Americans at a time when the horse and the railroad were the only real viable means of transport. Using moving assembly lines and the best possible materials, between October 1908 and May 1927, Ford built around 16.5 million examples of this extraordinary car. By 1918, half of all cars built in America were Model Ts and by 1925 around 8,000 a day were being produced, making Henry Ford one of the world's best-known manufacturers of automobiles. The selection of body styles varied from two- and four-seat open and closed models - tourers, town cars, runabouts, landaulettes and cabriolets - to vans and pick-up trucks, and customers could also have colours other than black!

Book Ford Model T Owners Workshop Manual

Book excerpt: The Ford Model T was produced between 1908 and 1927, and is credited with being the very first 'mass-market', affordable car. Until the appearance of the Model T, cars had been the preserve of the rich and were generally rare, expensive and relatively unreliable. The Model T brought motoring to the middle classes, and around 16.5 million examples were built over the lifetime of the car. Henry Ford and his engineering team refined the idea of the assembly line, greatly increasing its efficiency, and lowering the cost of production, which was key to the Model T's success. Ford Model T Enthusiasts' Manual provides details of the car's origins, design, production and evolution, along with a look at restoring and running a car today.
