Book excerpt: Written by the best LSAT tutor alive, this is the ONLY book you will need in order to learn EVERYTHING you need to know about the LSAT logic games section. Every type of game is covered and completely demystified in clear, simple terms: others want you to think that the games section is difficult in order to trick you into spending too much on their books and classes. Games are not difficult, you just need to understand the basic concepts and methods clearly. By the end of the book, you have skills on par with the best lawyers and law professors in the nation. Don't just get into law school, GET A FULL SCHOLARSHIP with a crushingly good logic games performance and LSAT score. Our students score above the 90th percentile, and that is why they get scholarships, excel at law school, graduate with honors and land great jobs after graduation. You have heard the stories about all of the people graduating from law schools and then being unemployed. The reason is that most of these students are learning from commercial companies and books that are NOT teaching them how to be great legal minds. They are trying to "just get in," and that is what all of the other books and companies are giving them. We will teach you how to get into law school with better skills than over 90-95% of the competition, how to use it in law school and how to be the BEST. "Good" = unemployed, mediocre waiter with a law degree. "Excellent" = top-of-your-class excellence, great job after graduation and NO loans for your law degree. With this text, you will learn all of the logic you need for the LSAT as well as every technique, method and trick for crushing the games section. Others will teach you incomplete methods, incomplete logic and an approach to games that completely miss the point of the LSAT. We show you HOW IT ALL APPLIES TO LAW SCHOOL AND THE PRACTICE OF LAW. Our methods are 100% relevant, simple, clear and effective.

Book LSAT Logic Games Repetition Workbook Volume 1

Download or read book LSAT Logic Games Repetition Workbook Volume 1 written by Morley Tatro and published by . This book was released on 2011-07 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mastery Through Repetition Some people assume that completing individual LSAT Logic Games more than once is a waste of time, since test takers only have one chance to complete any particular game on test day. However, the skills developed in preparing for this section of the test are quite responsive to repetition. There are frequently more elegant ways to approach each game, and by completing games more than once, you can be sure to derive the maximum cranial muscle memory from the problem-solving process. The average Logic Games book ignores this fact, and presents individual games only once. In this volume, Cambridge LSAT presents each of the Analytical Reasoning problem sets from PrepTests 1-20 three times. Thus, you can easily repeat games and glean additional value from them. Forget about cutting pages out of books and spending time and money making copies. Now you can have your repetition practice in one place, and easily "replay" a game when sufficient time has elapsed since your previous attempt. Use the enclosed games to practice and cement the concepts and techniques of the Logic Games guide of your choosing. Includes o Introduction o Part 1: First Attempt o Part 2: Second Attempt o Part 3: Third Attempt o Answer Key o Performance Tracker o Index o Appendix: PrepTest to Test Date Conversion Chart

  • Author : Diane Roberts
  • Publisher : Simon and Schuster

  • ISBN : 1416589570
  • Pages : 376 pages

Download or read book Dream State written by Diane Roberts and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2007-11-01 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Part family memoir, part political commentary, part apologia, Dream State is all Floridian, telling the grand and sometimes crazy story of the twenty-seventh state through the eyes of one of its native daughters. Acclaimed journalist and NPR commentator Diane Roberts has many family secrets and she's ready to tell them. Like the time her cousin state Senator Luther Tucker wrapped his Caddy around a tree, allegedly with a jug of moonshine on the seat next to him. Or how cousin Susan Branford was given an African girl for her eighth birthday. Or the time when cousin Enid Broward was made the May Queen of 1907, even though her daddy the governor shocked the state by trying to drain the entire Everglades. Roberts' ancestors helped settle Florida, kill off its pesky Indians, enslave some of its inhabitants, clear its forests, lay its train tracks, and pave its roads, all the time weaving themselves into the very fabric of this dangling chad of a state. With a storyteller's talent for setting great scenes, Roberts lays out the sweeping history of eight geberations of Browards and Bradfords, Tuckers anf Robertses, even as she Forest Gumps them into situations with more historically familiar names. Whether it's the American court of Catherine de Médicis, the Tallahassee court of Katherine Harris, Henry Flagler's boardroom -- not to mention his bedroom -- or Jeb Bush's statehouse, you're likely to find a branch or a root of the Roberts family growing entangled nearby. Starting in the recent past with the botched presidential election of 2000, Roberts introduces the many sides of the debate, coincidentally peopled with cousins both kissing and close. She then goes back to Florida's first inhabitants, showing how this alluring peninsula many called a paradise played a role in the destiny of those who settled there. Following their colorful progress up to the present, she renders them all with a deep, familial affection. Florida has forced itself into the collective American unconscious with its messed-up elections, anthrax scares, shark attacks, boat lifts, snowbirds, and the Bush dynasty. While exposing the real people whom Carl Hiaasen and Elmore Leonard have been fictionalizing for years, Dream State ultimately reveals the cogs and wheels that make the state tick.

Book Hive Mind

  • Author : Garett Jones

Download or read book Hive Mind written by Garett Jones and published by Stanford University Press. This book was released on 2015-11-11 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the last few decades, economists and psychologists have quietly documented the many ways in which a person's IQ matters. But, research suggests that a nation's IQ matters so much more. As Garett Jones argues in Hive Mind, modest differences in national IQ can explain most cross-country inequalities. Whereas IQ scores do a moderately good job of predicting individual wages, information processing power, and brain size, a country's average score is a much stronger bellwether of its overall prosperity. Drawing on an expansive array of research from psychology, economics, management, and political science, Jones argues that intelligence and cognitive skill are significantly more important on a national level than on an individual one because they have "positive spillovers." On average, people who do better on standardized tests are more patient, more cooperative, and have better memories. As a result, these qualities—and others necessary to take on the complexity of a modern economy—become more prevalent in a society as national test scores rise. What's more, when we are surrounded by slightly more patient, informed, and cooperative neighbors we take on these qualities a bit more ourselves. In other words, the worker bees in every nation create a "hive mind" with a power all its own. Once the hive is established, each individual has only a tiny impact on his or her own life. Jones makes the case that, through better nutrition and schooling, we can raise IQ, thereby fostering higher savings rates, more productive teams, and more effective bureaucracies. After demonstrating how test scores that matter little for individuals can mean a world of difference for nations, the book leaves readers with policy-oriented conclusions and hopeful speculation: Whether we lift up the bottom through changing the nature of work, institutional improvements, or freer immigration, it is possible that this period of massive global inequality will be a short season by the standards of human history if we raise our global IQ.

Book The Quest for Cosmic Justice

Download or read book The Quest for Cosmic Justice written by Thomas Sowell and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2001-06-30 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about the great moral issues underlying many of the headline-making political controversies of our times. It is not a comforting book but a book about disturbing and dangerous trends. The Quest for Cosmic Justice shows how confused conceptions of justice end up promoting injustice, how confused conceptions of equality end up promoting inequality, and how the tyranny of social visions prevents many people from confronting the actual consequences of their own beliefs and policies. Those consequences include the steady and dangerous erosion of fundamental principles of freedom -- amounting to a quiet repeal of the American revolution. The Quest for Cosmic Justice is the summation of a lifetime of study and thought about where we as a society are headed -- and why we need to change course before we do irretrievable damage.
