Book Regional Inequality in the Distribution Pattern and Accessibility of Educational Institutions in Sylhet Division Bangladesh

Download or read book Regional Inequality in the Distribution Pattern and Accessibility of Educational Institutions in Sylhet Division Bangladesh written by Choudhury Touhida Anwer and published by diplom.de. This book was released on 2016-04-20 with total page 95 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Education is one of the most important constituents of human resource development. In this study an attempt has been made to find out the regional inequality in distribution pattern and accessibility of educational institutions in Sylhet Division, Bangladesh. Spatial dispersion with regard to the city center/district headquarter has been calculated to find out the distributional pattern. Accessibility of the educational institutions has been computed with the help of the number of educational institutions, population density and total area of the Sylhet division where the relationship between density of population and educational institutions have been taken in consideration. Correlation between the density of populations and the density of educational institutions is established by analyzing standard statistical techniques as well as spatial analysis.

Book Approaches to Administrative Training in Education

Download or read book Approaches to Administrative Training in Education written by Joseph Murphy and published by SUNY Press. This book was released on 1987-01-01 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “The book addresses a long felt need to describe and investigate the education and training of school administrators. The topic is especially timely with the current emphasis on educational reform and reports from the 'effective schools' research which puts emphasis on the quality of leadership, especially principals.” — Patricia A. Schmuck, Lewis and Clark College In this important new collection Murphy and Hallinger bring together descriptions of a wide range of the new models in use in educational administrative training. Most of these eleven models have developed in response to contemporary criticism of the educational administrative theory movement, and each, in its own way, strives to bridge the chasm between educational theory and practice. The approaches represented here stress the importance of the administrators' engagement in the daily life of the school, and encourage administrators to learn from one another. While some models have come from leadership academies, others have been developed and tested in state departments of education, professional associations, and educational institutions. The book represents an important resource for those working with pre- and inservice administrators as they learn ways in which their involvement can improve the nation's schools.

Book Space Place and Scale in the Study of Education

Download or read book Space Place and Scale in the Study of Education written by Lorraine Symaco and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-10-02 with total page 153 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The term ‘space’ is inherently geographical. Educational provision and activity takes place within spaces ranging from a room at home or in a school to a campus to an administrative area which could be a state within a country, a whole country or a group of countries. Such spaces are known as geographical surfaces. Within these spaces the process of learning and teaching takes place at particular points that are often nodes in a network which may be formal, such as a group of schools or universities, or non-formal, such as in cyberspace. Understanding what goes on depends on the scale at which it is observed, ranging from individuals to global outreach. Altogether, this constitutes the geography of educational reality. This comprehensive volume includes a theoretical background, plus a sample of situations including school level, policy and administration, inequitable access, education hubs, and small states. It offers an introduction to a relatively neglected member of the family of education foundation disciplines, the geography of education. This book was originally published as a special issue of Comparative Education.

Book The Institutional Basis of Higher Education Research

Download or read book The Institutional Basis of Higher Education Research written by Stefanie Schwarz and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-05-08 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the US, the university administration runs its own office of “insti- tional research” in order to base its decisions on systematic information. Furthermore, higher education research can rely on a relatively stable academic basis if study programmes on higher education exist. Again, this is most frequently the case in the United States. Finally, governments and other macro-societal actors sometimes have their own offices or institutes of policy research and prepare the policies of the actors they report to. In addition, research on higher education can be institutionalized in a - riety of ways. Often, research institutes on higher education are quite visible. They were established as specialized research units within or outside insti- tions of higher education; but no common institutional basis can be observed for this type of institution across the countries. Third, the major themes of research on higher education also differ - tween countries. It has frequently been said that in European countries it was more prone to analyse macro-societal issues of higher education, whereas in the US it tended to study the inner life of higher education institutions, s- dents, and the teaching and learning processes.

Book The Oxford Handbook of Urban Economics and Planning

Download or read book The Oxford Handbook of Urban Economics and Planning written by Nancy Brooks and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2012-01-12 with total page 1027 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume embodies a problem-driven and theoretically informed approach to bridging frontier research in urban economics and urban/regional planning. The authors focus on the interface between these two subdisciplines that have historically had an uneasy relationship. Although economists were among the early contributors to the literature on urban planning, many economists have been dismissive of a discipline whose leading scholars frequently favor regulations over market institutions, equity over efficiency, and normative prescriptions over positive analysis. Planners, meanwhile, even as they draw upon economic principles, often view the work of economists as abstract, not sensitive to institutional contexts, and communicated in a formal language spoken by few with decision making authority. Not surprisingly, papers in the leading economic journals rarely cite clearly pertinent papers in planning journals, and vice versa. Despite the historical divergence in perspectives and methods, urban economics and urban planning share an intense interest in many topic areas: the nature of cities, the prosperity of urban economies, the efficient provision of urban services, efficient systems of transportation, and the proper allocation of land between urban and environmental uses. In bridging this gap, the book highlights the best scholarship in planning and economics that address the most pressing urban problems of our day and stimulates further dialog between scholars in urban planning and urban economics.
