Book Differential Privacy and Applications

Download or read book Differential Privacy and Applications written by Tianqing Zhu and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-08-22 with total page 243 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on differential privacy and its application with an emphasis on technical and application aspects. This book also presents the most recent research on differential privacy with a theory perspective. It provides an approachable strategy for researchers and engineers to implement differential privacy in real world applications. Early chapters are focused on two major directions, differentially private data publishing and differentially private data analysis. Data publishing focuses on how to modify the original dataset or the queries with the guarantee of differential privacy. Privacy data analysis concentrates on how to modify the data analysis algorithm to satisfy differential privacy, while retaining a high mining accuracy. The authors also introduce several applications in real world applications, including recommender systems and location privacy Advanced level students in computer science and engineering, as well as researchers and professionals working in privacy preserving, data mining, machine learning and data analysis will find this book useful as a reference. Engineers in database, network security, social networks and web services will also find this book useful.

Book Introduction to the Theory of Differential Inclusions

Download or read book Introduction to the Theory of Differential Inclusions written by Georgi V. Smirnov and published by American Mathematical Society. This book was released on 2022-02-22 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A differential inclusion is a relation of the form $dot x in F(x)$, where $F$ is a set-valued map associating any point $x in R^n$ with a set $F(x) subset R^n$. As such, the notion of a differential inclusion generalizes the notion of an ordinary differential equation of the form $dot x = f(x)$. Therefore, all problems usually studied in the theory of ordinary differential equations (existence and continuation of solutions, dependence on initial conditions and parameters, etc.) can be studied for differential inclusions as well. Since a differential inclusion usually has many solutions starting at a given point, new types of problems arise, such as investigation of topological properties of the set of solutions, selection of solutions with given properties, and many others. Differential inclusions play an important role as a tool in the study of various dynamical processes described by equations with a discontinuous or multivalued right-hand side, occurring, in particular, in the study of dynamics of economical, social, and biological macrosystems. They also are very useful in proving existence theorems in control theory. This text provides an introductory treatment to the theory of differential inclusions. The reader is only required to know ordinary differential equations, theory of functions, and functional analysis on the elementary level. Chapter 1 contains a brief introduction to convex analysis. Chapter 2 considers set-valued maps. Chapter 3 is devoted to the Mordukhovich version of nonsmooth analysis. Chapter 4 contains the main existence theorems and gives an idea of the approximation techniques used throughout the text. Chapter 5 is devoted to the viability problem, i.e., the problem of selection of a solution to a differential inclusion that is contained in a given set. Chapter 6 considers the controllability problem. Chapter 7 discusses extremal problems for differential inclusions. Chapter 8 presents stability theory, and Chapter 9 deals with the stabilization problem.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Problems demanding globally optimal solutions are ubiquitous, yet many are intractable when they involve constrained functions having many local optima and interacting, mixed-type variables. The differential evolution (DE) algorithm is a practical approach to global numerical optimization which is easy to understand, simple to implement, reliable, and fast. Packed with illustrations, computer code, new insights, and practical advice, this volume explores DE in both principle and practice. It is a valuable resource for professionals needing a proven optimizer and for students wanting an evolutionary perspective on global numerical optimization.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume presents a new translation of Aristotle's Topics Book VI by Annamaria Schiaparelli, accompanied by a detailed commentary and textual notes providing insight into the history of the transmission of the text with its variants. In the Topics, Aristotle aims at developing his dialectical method. He introduces the four predicables (property, genus, accident, and definition) which are necessary for the classification and application of the topoi, or commonplaces. Book VI of the Topics is entirely devoted to the discussion of definition, the most extended and refined discussion of this subject handed down to us from the classical period. The concept of definition plays a central role not only in Aristotle's logic but also in his ontology. Issues connected with definitions emerge constantly throughout his works. Moreover, definitions are at the centre of Platonic philosophy and sparked a lively discussion in philosophy of the Hellenistic and late classical periods.
