Book Non coding Rna Transcripts In Cancer Therapy Pre clinical And Clinical Implications

Download or read book Non coding Rna Transcripts In Cancer Therapy Pre clinical And Clinical Implications written by Gautam Sethi and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2023-03-14 with total page 377 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Non-coding RNA Transcripts in Cancer Therapy: Pre-clinical and Clinical Implications' provides a new insight towards role of non-coding RNAs molecules including microRNAs, long non-coding RNAs and circular RNAs in cancer. The reason of focusing on cancer is that this malignant disease is responsible for high death around the world and after cardiovascular diseases, it is a leading cause of death. In the current book, the basic information and knowledge about ncRNAs, their biogenesis and their biological functions are covered. It is shown that ncRNAs can regulate expression level of genes at transcriptional and post-transcriptional levels and therefore, ncRNAs are master and key players in molecular pathways. Then, the impact of regulation of molecular pathways by ncRNAs on important molecular mechanisms such as proliferation, metastasis, epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition, apoptosis and autophagy are described. All of these aspects are integrated in cancer and for treatment of this disease. In case of miRNAs, their biogenesis and biological functions in physiological conditions are described. Then, impact of miRNAs on proliferation, metastasis, therapy response (drug resistance and radio-resistance) is described. For lncRNAs and circRNAs, a same way is followed and their biogenesis and functional roles in cells are discussed. At the next step, function of lncRNAs and circRNAs in regulating proliferation, metastasis and therapy response (chemoresistance and radio-resistance) is introduced. These subjects are discussed based on pre-clinical studies and in order to make the book more comprehensive and broaden its scope, the function of exosomal ncRNAs in diagnosis and prognosis of cancer patients is described.

Book The Chemical Biology of Long Noncoding RNAs

Download or read book The Chemical Biology of Long Noncoding RNAs written by Stefan Jurga and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-10-01 with total page 545 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers a comprehensive and detailed overview of various aspects of long non-coding RNAs. It discusses their emerging significance in molecular medicine, ranging from human cancers to cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. Transcriptomic studies have demonstrated that the majority of genomes found in complex organisms are expressed in highly dynamic and cell-specific patterns, producing huge numbers of intergenic, antisense and intronic long non-protein-coding RNAs (lncRNAs). Thousands of lncRNAs have been identified, and unlike mRNA, they have no protein-coding capacity. A large repertoire of ncRNAs, actively transcribed from the mammalian genome, control diverse cellular processes, both in terms of development and diseases, through a variety of gene regulatory mechanisms. IncRNAs have emerged as a new paradigm in epigenetic regulation of the genome. Given its scope, the book will be of particular interest to molecular, chemical, cell and developmental biologists, as well as specialists in translational medicine involved in disease-oriented research. It also offers a valuable resource for in silico experts seeking a deeper understanding of lncRNA expression and function through computational analysis of the NGS data.

Book lncRNAs in Cancer Metastasis and Therapy Resistance

Download or read book lncRNAs in Cancer Metastasis and Therapy Resistance written by Aamir Ahmad and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2023-10-30 with total page 445 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: lncRNAs (long non-coding RNAs) are the relatively longer (more than 200 nucleotides long) subtypes of ncRNAs (non-coding RNAs) i.e the RNAs that do not code for any proteins. However, even without themselves being translated, lncRNAs impact the cellular gene expressions and functions in ways that are just beginning to be explored. The metastasis of human cancers as well as acquired resistance against the administered therapeutics are two major factors responsible for the cancer-associated mortality.

Download or read book Cancer Genomics written by Hui Ling and published by Elsevier Inc. Chapters. This book was released on 2013-11-21 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The discovery of microRNA (miRNA) involvement in cancer a decade ago, and the more recent findings of long non-coding RNAs in human diseases, challenged the long-standing view that RNAs without protein-coding potential are simply “junk” transcription within the human genome. These findings evidently changed the dogma that “DNA makes RNA makes protein” by showing that RNAs themselves can be essential regulators of cellular function and play key roles in cancer development. MiRNAs are evolutionarily conserved short single-stranded transcripts of 19–24 nucleotides in length. They do not code for proteins, but change the final output of protein-coding genes by regulating their transcriptional and/or translation process. Ultraconserved genes (UCGs) are non-coding RNAs with longer length (>200bp) that are transcribed from the ultraconserved genomic region. Both miRNAs and UCGs are located within cancer-associated genomic regions (CAGRs) and can act as tumor suppressors or oncogenes. In this chapter, we present principles and concepts that have been identified over the last decade with respect to our understanding of the function of non-coding RNAs, and summarize recent findings on the role of miRNAs and UCGs in cancer development. Finally, we will conclude by discussing the translational potential of this knowledge into clinical settings such as cancer diagnosis, prognosis and treatment.

Book New Strategies for Reversing Cancer Therapy Resistance

Download or read book New Strategies for Reversing Cancer Therapy Resistance written by Yue Du and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2024-04-26 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Amazing anticancer therapy advancements have been made in the last decade due to tremendous innovations. Nonetheless, drug resistance remains a major challenge that limits the effectiveness of anticancer therapies, causing cancer recurrence and metastasis and being a major cause of cancer-related death. Drug resistance can be caused by complex molecular mechanisms such as gene mutations, epigenetic dysregulation, microenvironment alterations, etc. Many clinical strategies, including combination therapies and epigenetic drugs, have been used to avoid or reverse drug resistance effectively. However, the progression of cancers (in patients under treatment) or the lack of response of cancer patients indicate that current approaches to overcome resistance are far from sufficient, and more work is needed.

Book The Heterogeneity of Cancer Metabolism

Download or read book The Heterogeneity of Cancer Metabolism written by Anne Le and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-06-26 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Genetic alterations in cancer, in addition to being the fundamental drivers of tumorigenesis, can give rise to a variety of metabolic adaptations that allow cancer cells to survive and proliferate in diverse tumor microenvironments. This metabolic flexibility is different from normal cellular metabolic processes and leads to heterogeneity in cancer metabolism within the same cancer type or even within the same tumor. In this book, we delve into the complexity and diversity of cancer metabolism, and highlight how understanding the heterogeneity of cancer metabolism is fundamental to the development of effective metabolism-based therapeutic strategies. Deciphering how cancer cells utilize various nutrient resources will enable clinicians and researchers to pair specific chemotherapeutic agents with patients who are most likely to respond with positive outcomes, allowing for more cost-effective and personalized cancer therapeutic strategies.
