Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Does it really make a difference what we do or how we do it? Are there strict rules and steps to follow? Can we afford to be careless, thoughtless, reckless, and oblivious to the very real consequences of failing to be deliberate in our actions? Imagine if we lived our lives each day fully aware of the Word of God, ever mindful of the meanings and final results of every action. What if we made up our minds consciously and deliberately to adhere to every line and precept? What if every move and thought was intentional and purposeful as we seek to please God, learn more about Him, and share His love with others? Living Wittingly takes us on a journey as we answer the many questions about our walk with God. There is nowhere better than the Word of God to discover the tools of living wittingly, intentionally, and victoriously.

    Book Details:
  • Author : Marco Di Nunzio
  • Publisher : Cornell University Press
  • Release : 2019-04-15
  • ISBN : 1501735136
  • Pages : 262 pages

Download or read book The Act of Living written by Marco Di Nunzio and published by Cornell University Press. This book was released on 2019-04-15 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Act of Living explores the relation between development and marginality in Ethiopia, one of the fastest growing economies in Africa. Replete with richly depicted characters and multi-layered narratives on history, everyday life and visions of the future, Marco Di Nunzio's ethnography of hustling and street life is an investigation of what is to live, hope and act in the face of the failing promises of development and change. Di Nunzio follows the life trajectories of two men, "Haile" and "Ibrahim," as they grow up in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, enter street life to get by, and turn to the city's expanding economies of work and entrepreneurship to search for a better life. Apparently favourable circumstances of development have not helped them achieve social improvement. As their condition of marginality endures, the two men embark in restless attempts to transform living into a site for hope and possibility. By narrating Haile and Ibrahim's lives, The Act of Living explores how and why development continues to fail the poor, how marginality is understood and acted upon in a time of promise, and why poor people's claims for open-endedness can lead to better and more just alternative futures. Tying together anthropology, African studies, political science, and urban studies, Di Nunzio takes readers on a bold exploration of the meaning of existence, hope, marginality, and street life.

Book Reconstructing Education through Mindful Attention

Download or read book Reconstructing Education through Mindful Attention written by Oren Ergas and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-01-21 with total page 350 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book reconstructs the idea and practice of education. Rather than conceiving of education as a process we undergo in which our minds are shaped by a social vision, Oren Ergas turns this notion of education on its head, arguing instead that we ourselves construct education. The multitude of problems with formal education and schooling, such as violence, inequality, and low achievements, are then seen as reflections of problems of the mind, meaning that close study of the mind is necessary if these problems are to be successfully tackled. Through philosophy, neuroscience and psychology, this book proposes a new perspective on 'educational' theory, practice and research. It will be of great interest to students and teachers, scholars of education, and educational policy-makers.

Book Alternative Military Strategies For The Future

Download or read book Alternative Military Strategies For The Future written by Keith A. Dunn and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-03-04 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this volume, prominent civilian and military experts in defense, representing the maritime-continental coalition, military reform, and noninterventionist schools of thought, outline the changes in military strategy, policy, and force structure that they believe the United States must adopt if it is to cope successfully with threats to national security in the 1980s and 1990s. The authors analyze US interests and objectives, the changing strategic environment, and the major security threats facing the United States in the coming decades. They also discuss what they believe is the proper mix of political, economic, and military instruments for dealing with fixture threats. The alternative strategies they present are wide-ranging and comprehensive, running the gamut from a strategic withdrawal from global commitments to proposals for increasing US power projection and forcible entry capabilities in the Third World. In many ways the chapters are critical of current and past approaches to military strategy. The authors believe it is essential that strategists understand the existing critiques of current U.S. military strategy in order to make the correct policy decisions for the future.

Book Confucianism and Modernization in East Asia

Download or read book Confucianism and Modernization in East Asia written by Kim Kyong-Dong and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-05-06 with total page 281 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Spanning the 19th and 20th centuries and identifying multiple waves of modernization, this book illustrates how principles originating in Chinese Confucianism have impacted the modernization of East Asia, especially in Korea. It also analyzes how such principles are exercised at personal, interpersonal and organizational levels. As modernization unfolds in East Asia, there is a rising interest in tradition of Confucianism and reconsider the relevance of Confucianism to global development. This book considers the actual historical significance of Confucianism in the modernization of the three nations in this region, China, Korea, and Japan through the nineteenth century and early twentieth century to the aftermath of the end of World War II. Examining the existing literature dealing with how Confucianism has been viewed in connection with modernization, it provides insight into western attitudes towards Confucianism and the changes in perceptions relative to Asia in the very process of modernization itself.

Book Tradition and Liberation

Download or read book Tradition and Liberation written by Catherine A Robinson and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-10-24 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The text examines the role of the Hindu tradition in the ideology and methodology of the Indian women's movement. By showing how leaders of the movement have restated aspects of the tradition, it provides insight into the ways in which a women's movement can restate a religious tradition. Throughout Indian society religion has been central to debate about the position of women and opposition to the women’s movement has often been rationalised in terms of religion. Through a review of the speeches and writings of leading figures of the movement from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, it identifies positive as well as negative representations of the tradition and its implications for women. It shows when and why the movement has chosen either to offer a traditional justification for its aims and activities or to eschew such a justification in favour of an alternative rationale.
