Download or read book Tear Down These Walls written by John H. Armstrong and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2021-08-01 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message. I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one--as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me" (John 17:20-21, NLT). For most Christians these words of Jesus seem like an unreachable ideal. Or they promise spiritual unity without a visible demonstration between real people. Some even read these words with a sense of fear seeing this text used for a compromise agenda. How should we understand this prayer offered for all who follow Jesus? What if Jesus really intended for the world to "believe" the gospel on the basis of looking at Christians who live deep unity in a shared relationship with him? What if there is way of understanding what Jesus desired so that we can begin anew to tear down the many walls of division that keep the world from seeing God's love in us? Is our oneness much bigger and deeper than we could imagine? John Armstrong has devoted three decades to the work of Christian unity. His story and ministry have encouraged many around the world and now they are reflected in this memoir of a life devoted to unity.
Download or read book RIP Rest In Peace a CUL8R Time Travel Mystery Romance written by Bob Kat and published by Nightwriter93. This book was released on 2014-02-21 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: You don’t have to believe in ghosts…until you meet one. Once again Kelly, Scott, Austin and Zoey are listening to the Spirit Radio when they hear a cry for help from a mother whose four-year-old daughter, Emma went missing in the middle of a busy lobby at the infamous Stanley Hotel. But time traveling back to 1911 is a lot more complicated than the three trips they had taken earlier in the summer. They have to find appropriate clothes and figure out a way to pay for their stay. When they hear about a tragic fire that hurt several hotel employees, the teens take advantage of the hotel’s desperation and get jobs working as lady’s maids and houseboys so they can keep an eye on Emma and her family. Even though they know that The Stanley Hotel is possibly the most haunted place in the U.S., the four teenagers are a little creeped out when they hear ghostly children running in the halls, singing songs and even a mysterious ball that keeps showing up in their room. How could a hotel that is only two years old already be haunted? Most importantly, how can they stop Emma from becoming one of the ghosts that are trapped inside the luxurious hotel? Midway through their first summer together, they celebrate the Fourth of July twice in one year. As they try to figure out the mystery of Emma’s disappearance, they bump in some famous people and experience several historical events. But ultimately, it’s their trust in each other and the friendship that has been forged by two unique experiences no one else on the planet has ever done…talk with dead people and time travel to the past. Their first trip back to 1966 had stopped the murder of a teenager from their school. Their next trip to 1980 had tested their courage as they were brought face-to-face with a man who was determined to murder an entire family. Their last trip to 1927 had saved the life of a handsome young man who had run away to a traveling circus. Zoey, the former mean girl of South Beach High School, suffered her first heartbreak by falling in love with a man from the wrong century. Back in 1911 there are no TV news crawlers or Amber Alerts like we see along the interstate highways today. Instead, Kelly, Scott, Austin and Zoey must try to be in the right place at the right time to stop the tragedy of Emma’s disappearance from happening. They follow her and her family around while enjoying life among the rich and famous. They arrive as skeptics, but leave as believers when all four teens have ghostly encounters. Kelly and Austin grow closer as they share fireworks shows, first on the sand in Fort Myers Beach and second on a blanket in the Rocky Mountains. But is their romance doomed almost as soon as it began? When their plans go wrong, they face their first defeat. The same danger that takes Emma now threatens the teens when one of their own is captured in a killer’s web. Will they be able to save Emma? Or will they join her as permanent guests in the ghostly halls of The Stanley Hotel?

Download or read book Rip s Roundball and Redemption written by Phil Ripton and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2010-09-27 with total page 454 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is my intent in the writing of this book to reveal a few of the many lessons (in life) that should be taught to our student athletes. We must be able to reach each individual's heart and mind through the understanding of these methods, concepts and ideas. I firmly believe we must develop the character of the student athlete first in order for them to achieve success in life and through this development of character the student athlete will establish a firm foundation on which to make sound decisions. The coaching of basketball allows an opportunity to teach and establish positive morals and values and in doing so will allow the student athlete a foundation from which they can reasonably expect success. We as coaches, parents and educators must help to develop the minds and hearts of our young student athletes if we are to succeed and flourish as a nation. It is my belief that through a successful sports program, such positive ideas, concepts and methods can be taught and expressed. I believe such ideas as setting goals, the development of a positive attitude and self-discipline are essential in the growth and well-being of our student athletes and our nation. Hopefully, through the teaching of these ideas and methods, individual growth will continue and with an expanded self awareness, selfishness will be replaced by selflessness. When this transformation of the heart and mind is complete and when we, as individuals, turn from selfishness to selflessness, all mankind will begin to fully understand the meaning of God's love. It is through the acceptance of God's love, we as His creation are drawn to Jesus Christ. For God is love and it is only through knowing Jesus Christ that love truly lives. I wholeheartedly believe, that with this new found knowledge of Christ, will come eternal truth, faith, hope and salvation. (John 3:16) Respectfully, Phil Ripton

Download or read book Tear Down the Iron Curtains written by Dele Ajaja and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2007-12 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is not a tension-producing missive every time a Blackman writes Ku Klux Klan.Tear Down the Iron Curtains is a unique and necessary attempt by an individual to reconcile races, cultures, faiths, and groups. Mankind began the 21st century with elevated cultural, religious, and gang tensions. Suspicion among peoples with diverse ways of life has risen to an all-time high since the past decade. Terrorism is now a borderless phenomenon that haunts every human being. The menace of gangs is not shipping out of our cities, and erstwhile nonviolent neighborhoods are becoming restive. Should the peace-loving majority of the people around the world submit to these undesirable trends? More than ever, the conscientious ones among us, regardless of their races, colors, religions, and groups need to speak up against intolerance. The world would lose its body, spirit, and soul to the wicked if fine men, women and children keep mute when it matters. The momentous letter to KKK is a deliberate effort to reach out to diverse races, cultures, religions, and groups. Dele Ajaja engages his personal experiences to advocate tolerance. Mankind has no healthier option than fashioning a mutual civilization that curtails the intolerance of man by man.

Download or read book Baptized in Tear Gas written by Elle Dowd and published by Broadleaf Books . This book was released on 2021-08-10 with total page 187 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For years Elle Dowd considered herself an advocate for justice, but her well-meaning support always took a back burner to what Martin Luther King Jr. called the tension-free, ordered "negative peace" of white moderates. Then Michael Brown, a Black man, was murdered by a white police officer in Ferguson, Missouri, and the subsequent Uprising changed everything. In Baptized in Tear Gas, minister and activist Elle Dowd tells the gripping story of her transformation into an Assata Shakur-reading, courthouse-occupying abolitionist with an arrest record, hungry for the revolution. Thanks to deep relationships with people in Ferguson and St. Louis, and to experiencing a fraction of the system for herself--including the fear of rubber bullets, the shock of sound cannons, and running from tear gas--Dowd fully committed to the work of anti-racism and abolition. Now she wants to help other white allies do the same. Like in baptism, this transformation requires parts of us to die: our lack of power analysis, our commitment to white niceness, our tone policing, our respectability politics--all of those impulses we have been socialized by since birth must die so that something new can be resurrected in our lives and in the world. The uprising in Ferguson changed Dowd, and through it, God made her into something new. Now it's our turn.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tragedy has hit home for Marshay Cliff with the murder of her youngest son, Daniel, who was accidentally shot in the head by a cousin while the cousin played with a gun. The murder is a crushing blow for Marshay, and she wants to die also. The pain is too much for her to bear. While there are others hurting over the death of their grandson, their brother, their uncle, and friend, it is Marshay who feels she has lost the most. For a parent to have to bury a child, life itself seems to have been buried as well. There no longer seems a reason to live. But then, pain clears the vision of what life really entails. Life is not one-sided. Parents who lose a child must find new ways to live in order to function while still accepting and dealing with heartache and pain that comes with death of any kind. The parent must also realize that she is not the only one who hurts or suffers and that regardless of the loss, many people suffer and feels pain due to the death of a loved one. Therefore, Marshay’s purpose in Two Faces Equal One Tear is to shed light upon all deceased and their hurting survivors. She aims to demonstrate that though everyone’s pain is different and their suffering unique, all can be united in grief. No one should have to deal with the death of a loved one alone, especially the death of a child. Can the death of a child be overcome? Can love bring joy and happiness back after dealing with such tragedy? Should parents deem their loss greater than the loss of another? Marshay attempts to answer all these questions and more. Enjoy the story of tragedy, love, and God’s purpose for life after death.
