Book Behaviour and Analysis of Mechanically Fastened Joints in Composite Structures

Download or read book Behaviour and Analysis of Mechanically Fastened Joints in Composite Structures written by and published by . This book was released on 1988 with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The rapidly increasing use of composite structures in NATO aerospace has intensified interest in methods of strength, and life analysis. At the same time, the introduction of new tough resins has increased the static strength of composite joints with implications for the corresponding strength in fatigue. A number of NATO nations have built up databases and developed methods for strength and life analyses; in order to take advantage of these resources the Structures and Materials Panel held a Specialists' Meeting, in conjunction with the 64th Panel Meeting, at Madrid, Spain on 27th - 29th April 1987, under the chairmanship of Professor Vittorio Giavotto, to provide a focus for methods of analysis and the identification of research needs. This volume contains the papers presented at this Specialists' Meeting. Joints (junctions); Composite materials; Mechanical properties; Life (durability); Mechanical tests; Research projects.

Book Design Methodology for Bonded Bolted Composite Joints Volume I Analysis Derivations and Illustrative Solutions

Download or read book Design Methodology for Bonded Bolted Composite Joints Volume I Analysis Derivations and Illustrative Solutions written by and published by . This book was released on 1982 with total page 97 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report contains recent developments in three aspects of joints in advanced fibrous composite structures: (1) nonlinear analysis of adhesively- bonded stepped-lap joints and doublers, (2) multirow mechanically fastened joints in aerospace structures, and (3) nonlinear analysis of combined bonded and bolted joints. The methods developed include nonlinearities needed for metal structures as well as those for composites. The analysis are based on continuum mechanics techniques and have been coded into three Fortran IV digital computer programs A4EI, A4EJ, and A4EK respectively. The report contains explanations of the derivations of the solutions as well as sample worked problems to illustrate both the capabilities of the programs and the behavior characteristics of the real structures.

Book Composite Joints and Connections

Download or read book Composite Joints and Connections written by P Camanho and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2011-10-12 with total page 537 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The growing use of composites over metals for structural applications has made a thorough understanding of the behaviour of composite joints in various applications essential for engineers, but has also presented them with a new set of problems. Composite joints and connections addresses these differences and explores the design, modelling and testing of bonded and bolted joints and connections. Part one discusses bolted joints whilst part two examines bonded joints. Chapters review reinforcement techniques and applications for composite bolted and bonded joints and investigate the causes and effects of fatigue and stress on both types of joint in various applications and environments. Topics in part one include metal hybridization, glass-reinforced aluminium (GLARE), hybrid fibre metal laminates (FML), glass fibre reinforced polymer (GFRP) and carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) composites. Topics in part two include calculation of strain energy release rates, simulating fracture and fatigue failure using cohesive zone models, marine and aerospace applications, advanced modelling, stress analysis of bonded patches and scarf repairs. Composite joints and connections is a valuable reference for composite manufacturers and composite component fabricators, the aerospace, automotive, shipbuilding and civil engineering industries and for anyone involved in the joining and repair of composite structures. Explores the design, modelling and testing of bonded and bolted joints and connections Reviews reinforcement techniques and applications for composite bolted and bonded joints Investigates the causes and effects of fatigue and stress on bolted and bonded joints in various applications and environments
