Book Liquid Chromatography of Synthetic Polymers

Download or read book Liquid Chromatography of Synthetic Polymers written by Muhammad Imran Malik and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-11-03 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book elucidates the peculiar phenomenon of entropy/enthalpy compensation that takes place in high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) of polymers. Numerous publications, including some books, are devoted to molecular characterization of synthetic polymers, materials presently produced in large and steadily growing quantities, applying methods of HPLC. A knowledge of the molecular characteristics of polymers is indispensable, not only for their proper applications but also for their recycling and remediation. Polymer scientists generally focus on synthesis and potential applications of polymers while not giving due attention to an important central link, their comprehensive characterization in context of development of structure-property correlations. To fill this gap is one of the aims of the present book. The process of entropy/enthalpy compensation plays a decisive role in the advanced method of polymer characterization such as liquid chromatography at critical conditions, eluent gradient interaction chromatography, and temperature gradient interaction chromatography. All chemists working on any aspect of polymer science will find this book a valuable resource for the development of structure-property correlations.

Book excerpt: Provides an engaging account of how genetic abnormalities, neurobiology and neuropsychology work in concert to manifest cognitive-behavioral dysfunction. The authors have woven the various molecular genetic, genomic, neurophysiological and neurobehavioral threads together into a cohesive fabric of human genes, brain, and behavior. The first section provides and introduction to neurobehavioral disorders and their phenotypes in order to investigate the pathway between genes and behavior. The second section covers autosomal disorders that produce neurobehavioral dysfunction including neurofibromatosis, Prader-Willi syndrome, and tuberous sclerosis among others. The final section considers X-linked disorders in which syndromal and nonsyndromal forms of XLMR are present. It includes the first comprehensive account of the genotype and phenotype in FRAXE, the other fragile X mutation.

Book Size Exclusion Chromatography

Download or read book Size Exclusion Chromatography written by B. J. Hunt and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is a large and increasing variety of polymers currently in use both for domestic and industrial applications. The properties of polymers are deter mined not only by their chemical type, but also by their molecular mass and molecular mass distributions. However, while the chemical type of polymers can be determined relatively easily, the average molecular masses and molecular mass distributions are more difficult to measure. The molecular mass averages of a polymer are measured by specialized and complex techniques such as light scattering (for weight average) and osmometry (for number average). Thus, complete characterization of the molecular mass distribution of a polymer by such means requires separating the sample into many fractions which can then be examined individually. Since size exclusion chromatography was introduced as a rapid and straightforward technique for the characterization of polymer molecular mass distributions, there have been tremendous increases in development and applications, and it was felt appropriate to bring together into a single volume the information required by scientists from many disciplines who wish to use the technique. This book should be useful to existing users, those who are new to the technique, and those who may be familiar with the basic technique and now wish to extend their capabilities to more complex applications (or to consider the potential of a number of related techniques). The book will also be of general interest to the experienced liquid chromatographer.

Book Multiple Detection in Size exclusion Chromatography

Download or read book Multiple Detection in Size exclusion Chromatography written by André M. Striegel and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page 370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For four decades, size-exclusion chromatography has played a prominent role in characterizing polymers, by determining the polymer's molar mass averages, often not absolutely but relative to some calibration standard. Not satisfied, scientists now want to determine the absolute molar mass averages and distribution and to characterize their long-chain and short-chain branching, tacticity, copolymer and base-pair sequences, and other matters. Oh yes, and they want all this as a continuous function of the molar mass of the analyte. Fortunately, the technique is endowed with a number of detection methods, and the 18 papers here explain the role of those various detection methods and the synergistic effect of combining them in different configurations to obtain desired results.
