Book Split and Splitless Injection for Quantitative Gas Chromatography

Download or read book Split and Splitless Injection for Quantitative Gas Chromatography written by Konrad Grob and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-11-21 with total page 480 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This comprehensive and unique handbook of split and splitless injection techniques has been completely revised and updated. This new edition offers: - New insights concerning sample evaporation in the injector - Information about matrix effects - A new chapter on injector design The real processes within the injector are for the first time visualized and explained by the CD-ROM included in the book. Furthermore the reader will understand the concepts of injection techniques and get a knowledge of the sources of error. The handbook also includes many practical guidelines. From reviews of former editions: "This substantial book is on injection techniques alone, which ... demonstrates this can have many pitfalls ... no one should be allowed to direct a laboratory doing quantitative analysis by GC without first being thoroughly familar with this book ..." The Analyst "This is a detailed reference volume filled with practical suggestions and techniques for managing split and splitless injection in the day-to-day world of the working gas chromatographer. It will be useful ... for anyone who must work hands-on with GC." Journal of High Resolution Chromatography

Book Handbook of Natural Gas Analysis

Download or read book Handbook of Natural Gas Analysis written by James G. Speight and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2018-06-28 with total page 560 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A comprehensive resource to the origin, properties, and analysis of natural gas and its constituents Handbook of Natural Gas Analysis is a comprehensive guide that includes information on the origin and analysis of natural gas, the standard test methods, and procedures that help with the predictability of gas composition and behavior during gas cleaning operations and use. The author—a noted expert on the topic—also explores the properties and behavior of the various components of natural gas and gas condensate. All chapters are written as stand-alone chapters and they cover a wealth of topics including history and uses; origin and production; composition and properties; recovery, storage, and transportation; properties and analysis of gas stream and gas condensate. The text is designed to help with the identification of quality criteria appropriate analysis and testing that fall under the umbrella of ASTM International. ASTM is an organization that is recognized globally across borders, disciplines and industries and works to improve performance in manufacturing and materials and products. This important guide: Contains detailed information on natural gas and its constituents Offers an analysis of methane, gas hydrates, ethane, propane, butane, and gas condensate Includes information on the behavior of natural gas to aid in the planning for recovery, storage, transportation, and use Covers the test methods that are applicable to natural gas and its constituents Written in accessible and easy-to-understand terms Written for scientists, engineers, analytical chemists who work with natural gas as well as other scientists and engineers in the industry, Handbook of Natural Gas Analysis offers a guide to the analysis, standard test methods, and procedures that aid in the predictability of gas composition and behavior during gas cleaning operations and use.

Book Statistical Evaluation of Gas Chromatography for the Determination of Dissolved Gases in Sea Water

Download or read book Statistical Evaluation of Gas Chromatography for the Determination of Dissolved Gases in Sea Water written by V. J. Linnenbom and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A gas chromatographic method developed by the authors for the determination of dissolved gases in sea water has been evaluated with respect to precision and accuracy by comparison with other methods. Both laboratory and shipboard measurements were employed in the evaluation. Dissolved oxygen analyses made at sea under routine conditions of operation over a period of two weeks indicate statistically significant differences in precision for the three methods tested: gas chromatography (plus or minus 1.8%), standard Winkler method (plus or minus 1.0%), and a modification of the Winkler method (plus or minus 0.51%). No significant bias was found between gas chromatography and the improved Winkler method; a small but statistically significant bias ( -1%) was found for the standard Winkler method relative to the other two. From a practical point of view, these differences are not considered important for routine survey operations. The dissolved N2 data obtained by gas chromatography are grouped about a mean value of 100% saturation, with approximately 95% of the values falling within (100 plus or minus 5)% saturation. The advantages of gas chromatography (routine analyses by relatively nonskilled personnel to obtain simultaneous measurements of more than one gas on a small volume of liquid) are felt to be sufficient to warrant its further use in oceanography.
