Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The worlds synthesized in the cyberspaces of networked computers are the theme of Cyberworlds. Cyberspaces have come into prominence with the de velopment of the Internet and are expected to expand drastically with the emergence of national and international information systems. The purpose is to discover the architecture and design of cy of the book Cyberworlds berworlds by synthesizing worlds in cyberspaces. The underlying philosophy is crucial to the success of the architecture, and an initial effort is made to delineate it at the beginning of the book. The book's topics are selected to clarify the issues of the philosophy, architecture, and design of cyberworlds through a wide variety of case studies. The approach presented in the book is thus characterized as synthetic rather than analytic. There already are numbers of books with observations and analyses of cyberworlds. They warn of the danger of widespread crimes and accidents in the cyberworlds, for instance. Without a philosophy and methodologies of how to architecturally design and synthesize the cyber worlds, the worlds in cyberspaces tend to be arbitrarily extended, disordered, and, in extreme cases, criminal. This book is intended to benefit readers by providing them with a possible direction to take in deciding how to synthesize worlds in cyberspaces. Cre ating new worlds in new spaces with almost unlimited dimension and scale is an immense challenge. In principle, anyone at any moment can participate in the creation. The book serves as a creator's reference and also as a design guidebook.

Book The Knowing

    Book Details:
  • Author : Ninie Hammon
  • Publisher : Sterling & Stone LLC
  • Release : 2015-11-09
  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 409 pages

Download or read book The Knowing written by Ninie Hammon and published by Sterling & Stone LLC. This book was released on 2015-11-09 with total page 409 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sorceress of psychological suspense, Ninie Hammon, brings you the first book in The Knowing Saga, a sprawling tale of spiritual warfare that spans a quarter of a century. If you crave sleep-with-the-lights-on suspense coupled with characters so true they'll feel like family, The Knowing will open a world you won't want to believe is real. But it is. It starts with a school shooting... It ends with the return of an evil as ancient as the bones of the universe. When the hot call comes over the radio: “Code Red! Active shooter at Carlisle Elementary School,” Police Sergeant Jack Carpenter has only one job: find the gunman; take him out. Carpenter rushes into the school, fully armed and focused on cold, hard reality. But what happens to him there shatters the world as he knew it. And in the next three days, everything Jack Carpenter believes about himself, about reality, about good and evil and the whole nature of the universe will be challenged. Can it possibly be true—seriously?—that invisible demons prowl among us? That a winged creature more horrifying than any Hollywood-animated, computer-generated, mechanical unreality, exist? And that the single-minded mission of the beast—a creation of absolute, soul-less evil—is to kill Jack Carpenter? That’s crazy! Fairy-tale-science-fiction-horror-movie-bogeyman crap! Bottom line: it flat-out cannot possibly be true. But it is. Award-winning journalist and suspense author Ninie Hammon has created a terrifyingly real world where the people fighting to defeat invisible monsters from the bowels of hell are folks you might bump carts with in the grocery store. People so ordinary, in fact, that when the unexplainable rips apart their lives, when demons destroy their reputations and attack their children, you begin to wonder if the same thing could happen to you, too. ★★★★★ "The story arc grabbed a hold of me and did not let go till the end. Well, actually, it has not let go 'cause I am ready to pick up the next book and pick up where this one left off." -- Leah SP ★★★★★ "It's good vs. evil in the vein of Stephen King's The Stand. People are doing their normal thing - good, bad or indifferent - and all of a sudden it goes sideways. There were characters I cheered for, cried for, held my breath for - and some I was trying to think up ways to help get rid of." -- Renee Alice ★★★★★ "The book itself is kind of a cross between King's "It" and his "The Stand" but with Ninie's special touch. She has a way of drawing the reader into her world, making them a part of the story. She makes you feel as though you really know the people she creates. They come alive on the page for me with a reality that few authors can match...and yes, I'm including the "Main-Stream/New York Times Best Seller Author List"!" -- The Old Guy ★★★★★ "This book is as good or better than many of Stephen King's books. Ms Hammon has excelled with a dark supernatural story, that grows in intensity from the first page and is wrapped up by the last page. " -- Kotuku ★★★★★ "The Knowing" currently resides in the Top Ten in the last ten years I have read right alongside such books as "Unbroken" and "The Jakarta Pandemic". This book is one I have already strongly suggested my closest friends queue for their next read or… stop the boring book they are currently reading and replace it immediately with "The Knowing"! -- Dr. Thomas C. Mohler If you enjoy a fast-paced, suspense-filled story so gripping you’ll decide the dirty dishes aren't going anywhere and the car will survive one more day without an oil change, The Knowing is the book for you.

Book The Rare Trilogy Omnibus

Download or read book The Rare Trilogy Omnibus written by Diane Anthony and published by Authors 4 Authors Publishing. This book was released on 2022-11-06 with total page 564 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This omnibus edition of The Rare series brings the entire trilogy together in one volume! The Rare Olivia Sloane doesn’t want to live anymore. Her whole life is a struggle. Her health, her school, her social life, and even her relationship with her mother are all a mess. The world itself is a mess. With lethal acid rain and stifling, ever-present fog, nothing thrives in her home city, and it’s even worse outside—or so she’s been taught. Her best friend, David, also has a hard life, but he has hope. He’s convinced that there’s something better hidden beyond the fence surrounding their city and has always suggested escaping together. Olivia has never taken it seriously. But after a failed suicide attempt, her stay in the mental ward leads to a series of suspicious encounters with her mother and a fight at school. Feeling like there is nothing left to lose, she decides to give David’s idea a shot. Despite their poor health and reports of killer beasts, Olivia and David brave the wilderness. The truth they discover there—not just about their society but about themselves—is more astonishing than anything they ever imagined. The Remnant Now that Olivia and David have discovered that their life in the city was a lie, their pursuit of the truth gives them a newfound purpose. Is there more to their Rare abilities than what they’ve discovered so far? Is there something about them that the government is trying to keep hidden? Taken captive and tortured by her oppressors, Olivia narrowly escapes with help from an unexpected source. She rejoins what’s left of her new friends, only to find their home destroyed and coalition forces closing in to finish them off. Running for their lives, they set out on a desperate quest to find the Haven, a mysterious city that is rumored to be harboring and protecting Rares. This journey will take them deep into the wilderness and bring them to the edges of another coalition stronghold before they find their way. But the danger in front of them is rivaled only by the danger closing in behind them, and Olivia’s new abilities will be put to the test. As they discover more secrets, the ones they bring with them may be the most important of all. The Return The moment Olivia’s family is finally together in Uncle Eli’s camp, violence comes between them when Matthias shoots her mother, who has proven untrustworthy too many times. But not all is lost because of her mother—with the help of Uncle Eli, they find out the rumors they have been chasing are true. The Haven is real. Freedom is in sight. At least, it will be once David and Olivia cross the DMZ. But that’s easier said than done: assuming they don’t freeze or starve in the bleak of winter, they must survive an irradiated no-man’s-land reclaimed by the wilderness. With Eli’s suspicious camp, the Coalition on their trail, and in-fighting among their own group, they’re running out of time and options to find a way across. What happens when Olivia and David are forced to make painful choices between ideals and safety?

Download or read book Visualizing Coregency written by Lisa Saladino Haney and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2020-03-31 with total page 778 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Visualizing Coregency, Lisa Saladino Haney explores the practice of co-rule during Egypt’s 12th Dynasty and the role of royal statuary in expressing the dynamics of shared power. Though many have discussed coregencies, few have examined how such a concept was expressed visually. Haney presents both a comprehensive accounting of the evidence for coregency during the 12th Dynasty and a detailed analysis of the full corpus of royal statuary attributed to Senwosret III and Amenemhet III. This study demonstrates that by the reign of Senwosret III the central government had developed a wide-ranging visual, textual, and religious program that included a number of distinctive portrait types designed to convey the central political and cultural messages of the dynasty.
