Book Linear Dimensional Changes of Heat Cure Acrylic Resins

Download or read book Linear Dimensional Changes of Heat Cure Acrylic Resins written by Saryu Arora and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2012-08 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From almost the time dentistry achieved a professional status, there has been a constant search to obtain a denture base material of life like appearance, one that would not deteriorate in service. The introduction and use of acrylic resin as a denture base material since 1937 has revolutionized the dentistry in a big way. Since then no other material has been found that matches the appearance of the oral soft tissues with as great fidelity as acrylic resin. Heat cured acrylic resins are the most commonly used materials for denture base processing. It has fine esthetic properties, excellent color stability and can be used with a simple technique for the construction of dentures. Inspite of having all these advantages, dimensional inaccuracies have been a critical component in assessing in vivo performances of these materials. These changes have profound effect on Complete Denture Occlusion. Even minor changes can lead to severe discrepancies. Dimensional inaccuracies is still a major challenge for the Prosthodontist which need to be corrected for better results. The aim of this study is to search for such a Denture Base material which shows minimal inaccuracies.

Book Textbook of Prosthodontics

Download or read book Textbook of Prosthodontics written by Deepak Nallaswamy and published by JP Medical Ltd. This book was released on 2017-09-30 with total page 1417 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Prosthodontics is the subspecialty of dentistry that deals with the aesthetic restoration and replacement of teeth. The second edition of this textbook has been fully revised and updated to provide undergraduates with the latest advances in the field of prosthodontics. Divided into six sections, each part provides in depth detail on a specific type of prosthesis – complete dentures, removable partial dentures, fixed partial dentures, maxillofacial prosthesis, implants, and dental materials. The section on implants has been completely reorganised with the addition of new chapters, and the section on dental materials is brand new to this edition. The book includes discussion on anatomical land marks and lab procedures, as well as evidence based clinical practice and operating techniques. More than 3000 clinical photographs, diagrams, concept maps and charts enhance learning and enable quick revision. Key points Fully revised, second edition providing latest advances in prosthodontics Features brand new section on dental materials Highly illustrated with more than 3000 clinical photographs, diagrams and charts Previous edition (9788180611995) published in 2006

Book Effect of Cooling Procedures Over Linear Dimensional Changes in PMMA

Download or read book Effect of Cooling Procedures Over Linear Dimensional Changes in PMMA written by Aqeel Ibrahim and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2013 with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Denture bases are commonly made from acrylic resins, which were introduced by Dr. Walter Wright back in 1937. Among these, polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) is the most commonly used. PMMA material is mostly processed by wet heat and compression molding techniques, which deliver dentures with acceptable mechanical properties. However, certain dimensional changes are known to occur in acrylic resin during or after its processing. These changes hold clinical significance because for better adaptation to oral tissues, denture base material must have dimensional accuracy during and after its processing. However, inaccuracies tend to occur due to unavoidable changes during fabrication such as thermal expansion on heating, contraction on cooling and polymerization shrinkage. The purported significance of this study is to find out the most suitable cooling procedure for achieving maximum dimensional accuracy following a standard heating cycle. This will lead to the fabrication of a denture which will have better retention, support, stability.

Book Modification of Heat Cured Acrylic Resin to Flexible Acrylic Resin

Download or read book Modification of Heat Cured Acrylic Resin to Flexible Acrylic Resin written by Sufian Ahmed Yassin and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2011-03 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aims of this study are to modify heat cured acrylic resin denture base material into a flexible heat cured acrylic resin material by using additives {Flavoring agents and Plasticizer and to study some of it's physical and mechanical properties. One hundred sixty of heat cured samples and standard flexite have been prepared for studying some physical properties and tensile strength. The samples have been tested to measure (Tensile strength, Water sorption, Solubility, Color change, Dimensional accuracy). The results of this study have shown that the tensile strength of heat cured acrylic resin with additives was significantly lower than the standard heat cured acrylic resin while standard flexite group was significantly higher than standard heat cured acrylic resin. For dimensional accuracy, water sorption and solubility test, the group has shown significantly lower dimensional change, water sorption and solubility than other groups with additives but still higher than control group and flexite (valplast) one during seven days periods. For color change test there has been a change in color between groups that even cannot be considered.
