Download or read book Limits Of Human Imagination written by Frank Freeman and published by . This book was released on 2021-05-29 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have you been to the school! What is a school? It is the programming Institute. & 'you' are the collection of whatever have been taught to you & whatever you've seen happening around you. Remember, there was a time in your life when you were nobody, you were just a child. Then, the shift from - thinking nothing (till 3 years) to start thinking. From knowing nothing to mastering a particular thing... You got training of balancing, walking, eating, seeing, recognizing, listening & talking. Up to this it was fine and necessary but the one wrong thing have been done with you, that you are also programmed to 'feel' & 'behave' according to other's expectations. When you saw this world for first-time, you had an untrained body. Then people around you trained it for you. They taught you some language to speak. They started speaking with you and exploring your possibilities. (Or in a certain way exploiting your possibilities.) [Your parents & your teachers are the exploiters of your possibilities.] Everything you know, have been put inside you by others. All the things you've acquired, are copied from various people around you. Your speaking is a mixture of many people's speaking styles. Your behaving pattern is a mixture of so many other people's behaving patterns. Your vocabulary is a mixture of words you heard from your teachers, parents & friends. The language you speak, the words you use, the way you dress, the way you behave, the songs you know, the knowledge you have, all have come from others. The style you call your own, is a mixture of many styles you liked. The thoughts you call your own is a mixture of many thoughts from different books, different movies, different people... What is your own is a questionable thing. Because there is nothing you brought in this world, & there is nothing you can take away from here! You can just use the things which are already available & can try different combinations of it. The awareness is different than matter. The body is matter. The awareness means the power to feel, to judge, to understand and to reply. And you are in real sense, not the body but the source of that awareness which you have. Combine the awareness & body, is called 'living being'. & in that, you are not the body. You are the invisible source of that awareness. Only the body(matter) is visible. Awareness is not visible, & you are that. You, are that force. You are the real miracle. You are extraordinary. You, will never die. You are that pure energy. You are the consciousness itself! The faculties of consciousness are - Thinking, Feeling, Deciding, & Remembering. The faculties of body are - Approaching (doing actions), Digesting, Re-producing etc. If you consider yourself the body, then beware that you will be dead soon. Because the body is already dead, it's matter. It looks alive & functioning because you are in it with your awareness, as an invisible force keeping it alive. In this book, in part one, we are going to begin with digging the depths of thinking & feeling facilities of your consciousness. In part two, we are going to explore the realization & enlightenment of the soul. Some Of The Amazing Things You Will Find Inside This Book Are - ways to go beyond pain. ways to experience the clarity of life. ways to break the wrong habits. ways to discover the hidden gifts within you. ways to be beyond & better. ways to heal your mental malfunctioning. ways to feel good & to help others to feel good. ways to destroy the programming given by society. "This book, is the source of methods to reform your beliefs interestingly; & A way, to know the mysteries of life beautifully." So, go ahead and get this book to understand 'The Divine from the Scratch'...

Book Extraterrestrial Intelligence and Human Imagination

Download or read book Extraterrestrial Intelligence and Human Imagination written by John Traphagan and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-11-07 with total page 118 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI) represents one of the most significant crossroads at which the assumptions and methods of scientific inquiry come into direct contact with—and in many cases conflict with—those of religion. Indeed, at the core of SETI is the same question that motivates many interested in religion: What is the place of humanity in the universe? Both scientists involved with SETI (and in other areas) and those interested in and dedicated to some religious traditions are engaged in contemplating these types of questions, even if their respective approaches and answers differ significantly. This book explores this intersection with a focus on three core points: 1) the relationship between science and religion as it is expressed within the framework of SETI research, 2) the underlying assumptions, many of which are tacitly based upon cultural values common in American society, that have shaped the ways in which SETI researchers have conceptualized the nature of their endeavor and represented ideas about the potential influence contact might have on human civilization, and 3) what sort of empirical evidence we might be able to access as a way of thinking about the social impact that contact with alien intelligence might have for humanity, from both religious and cultural perspectives. The book developed as a result of a course the author teaches at the University of Texas at Austin: Religion, Science, and the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence.

Book The Cambridge Handbook of the Imagination

Download or read book The Cambridge Handbook of the Imagination written by Anna Abraham and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2020-06-18 with total page 865 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The human imagination manifests in countless different forms. We imagine the possible and the impossible. How do we do this so effortlessly? Why did the capacity for imagination evolve and manifest with undeniably manifold complexity uniquely in human beings? This handbook reflects on such questions by collecting perspectives on imagination from leading experts. It showcases a rich and detailed analysis on how the imagination is understood across several disciplines of study, including anthropology, archaeology, medicine, neuroscience, psychology, philosophy, and the arts. An integrated theoretical-empirical-applied picture of the field is presented, which stands to inform researchers, students, and practitioners about the issues of relevance across the board when considering the imagination. With each chapter, the nature of human imagination is examined - what it entails, how it evolved, and why it singularly defines us as a species.

Book The Iconoclastic Imagination

Download or read book The Iconoclastic Imagination written by Ned O'Gorman and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 2015-11-10 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bloody, fiery spectacles—the Challenger disaster, 9/11, JFK’s assassination—have given us moments of catastrophe that make it easy to answer the “where were you when” question and shape our ways of seeing what came before and after. Why are these spectacles so packed with meaning? In The Iconoclastic Imagination, Ned O’Gorman approaches each of these moments as an image of icon-destruction that give us distinct ways to imagine social existence in American life. He argues that the Cold War gave rise to crises in political, aesthetic, and political-aesthetic representations. Locating all of these crises within a “neoliberal imaginary,” O’Gorman explains that since the Kennedy assassination, the most powerful way to see “America” has been in the destruction of representative American symbols or icons. This, in turn, has profound implications for a neoliberal economy, social philosophy, and public policy. Richly interwoven with philosophical, theological, and rhetorical traditions, the book offers a new foundation for a complex and innovative approach to studying Cold War America, political theory, and visual culture.

Book Hume s Theory of Imagination

Download or read book Hume s Theory of Imagination written by Jan Wilbanks and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 187 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present work is, as its title indicates, a study of Hume's theory of imagination. Naturally, it is a study of a particular sort. It has a certain scope and limitations, takes a certain line of approach, exhibits certain emphases, has certain ends-in-view, etc. As an initial step in specifying the nature of this study, I shall indicate its central problem, i. e. , that problem to the solution of which the solutions of the various other problems with which it is concerned are merely means. The central problem of this study is that of determining how Hume's theory of im agination is related to, or involved in, the generic features and main lines of argument of his philosophy of the human understanding. The expression "philosophy of the human understanding" is obvious to allude to a restriction on the scope of this investigation. ly intended Actually, it is a title suggested to me by two of Hume's philosophical writings; and to anyone who is even modestly acquainted with these writings, its reference should be no mystery. Hume published the first two so-called "Books" of his A Treatise of Human Nature in 1739. The first of these two Books was entitled "Of the Human Understanding. " Nine years later, he published a work under the title, An Enquiry Con cerning Human Understanding.

Book Imagination in Human and Cultural Development

Download or read book Imagination in Human and Cultural Development written by Tania Zittoun and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2015-07-16 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book positions imagination as a central concept which increases the understanding of daily life, personal life choices, and the way in which culture and society changes. Case studies from micro instances of reverie and daydreaming, to utopian projects, are included and analysed. The theoretical focus is on imagination as a force free from immediate constraints, forming the basis of our individual and collective agency. In each chapter, the authors review and integrate a wide range of classic and contemporary literature culminating in the proposal of a sociocultural model of imagination. The book takes into account the triggers of imagination, the content of imagination, and the outcomes of imagination. At the heart of the model is the interplay between the individual and culture; an exploration of how the imagination, as something very personal and subjective, grows out of our shared culture, and how our shared culture can be transformed by acts of imagination. Imagination in Human and Cultural Development offers new perspectives on the study of psychological learning, change, innovation and creativity throughout the lifespan. The book will appeal to academics and scholars in the fields of psychology and the social sciences, especially those with an interest in development, social change, cultural psychology, imagination and creativity.

Book Space Time and the Limits of Human Understanding

Download or read book Space Time and the Limits of Human Understanding written by Shyam Wuppuluri and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-12-01 with total page 524 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this compendium of essays, some of the world’s leading thinkers discuss their conceptions of space and time, as viewed through the lens of their own discipline. With an epilogue on the limits of human understanding, this volume hosts contributions from six or more diverse fields. It presumes only rudimentary background knowledge on the part of the reader. Time and again, through the prism of intellect, humans have tried to diffract reality into various distinct, yet seamless, atomic, yet holistic, independent, yet interrelated disciplines and have attempted to study it contextually. Philosophers debate the paradoxes, or engage in meditations, dialogues and reflections on the content and nature of space and time. Physicists, too, have been trying to mold space and time to fit their notions concerning micro- and macro-worlds. Mathematicians focus on the abstract aspects of space, time and measurement. While cognitive scientists ponder over the perceptual and experiential facets of our consciousness of space and time, computer scientists theoretically and practically try to optimize the space-time complexities in storing and retrieving data/information. The list is never-ending. Linguists, logicians, artists, evolutionary biologists, geographers etc., all are trying to weave a web of understanding around the same duo. However, our endeavour into a world of such endless imagination is restrained by intellectual dilemmas such as: Can humans comprehend everything? Are there any limits? Can finite thought fathom infinity? We have sought far and wide among the best minds to furnish articles that provide an overview of the above topics. We hope that, through this journey, a symphony of patterns and tapestry of intuitions will emerge, providing the reader with insights into the questions: What is Space? What is Time? Book Beyond Consumer Capitalism

Download or read book Beyond Consumer Capitalism written by Justin Lewis and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2014-01-24 with total page 243 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Consumer capitalism dominates our economy, our politics and our culture. Yet there is a growing body of research from a range of disciplines that suggests that consumer capitalism may be past its sell-by date. Beyond Consumer Capitalism begins by showing how, for people in the developed world, consumer capitalism has become economically and environmentally unsustainable and is no longer able to deliver its abiding promise of enhancing quality of life . This cutting-edge book then asks why we devote so little time and effort to imagining other forms of human progress. The answer, Lewis suggests, is that our cultural and information industries limit rather than stimulate critical thinking, keeping us on the treadmill of consumption and narrowing our vision of what constitutes progress. If we are to find a way out of this cul de sac, Lewis argues, we must begin by analysing the role of media in consumer capitalism and changing the way we organize media and communications. We need a cultural environment that encourages rather than stifles new ideas about what guides our economy and our society. Timely and compelling, Beyond Consumer Capitalism will have strong appeal to students and scholars of media studies, cultural studies and consumer culture.
