Download or read book LIFE SKILLS EDUCATION MODULES FOR EMPOWERING WOMEN AND IMPROVING THE QUALITY LIFE OF FARM WOMEN Life skills Education written by B. Prashanthi and published by Rudra Publications. This book was released on with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Life skills are the abilities that help in promotion of mental and social wellbeing and competence in women to face the realities of life. The ultimate aim of life skills education is the overall development of women personality which cannot be achieved without exposing women to various life skills. The ten core (generic) Life skills as listed by WHO are self-awareness, Empathy, Critical Thinking, Creative Thinking, Decision Making, Problem Solving, Effective Communication, Interpersonal Relationships, Coping with stress and Managing Emotions. Life skill education lays the foundation for learning skills which enhance self-direction of the individual. It would be a way of empowering women to build their lives and their dreams. It would be a means of handholding them through the critical stages in their life and helping them tap their potential to the fullest. Thereby, it is hoped that the current education system with its oppressive rigidity would open up and make life skills education a part of its mainstream group. This would enable the country to build individuals who believe in themselves, who are efficient leaders and administrators, who are able to understand their potentials and achieve them.

Book Life Skills Education for Youth

Download or read book Life Skills Education for Youth written by Joan DeJaeghere and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-11-23 with total page 283 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This open access volume critically reviews a diverse body of scholarship and practice that informs the conceptualization, curriculum, teaching and measurement of life skills in education settings around the world. It discusses life skills as they are implemented in schools and non-formal education, providing both qualitative and quantitative evidence of when, with whom, and how life skills do or do not impact young women’s and men’s lives in various contexts. Specifically, it examines the nature and importance of life skills, and how they are taught. It looks at the synergies and differences between life skills educational programmes and the way in which they promote social and emotional learning, vocational/employment education, and health and sexuality education. Finally, it explores how life skills may be better incorporated into education and how such education can address structures and relations of power to help youth achieve desired future outcomes, and goals set out in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Life skills education has gained considerable attention by education policymakers, researchers and educators as being the sine qua non for later achievements in life. It is nearly ubiquitous in global and national education policies, including the SDGs, because life skills are regarded as essential for a diverse set of purposes: reducing poverty, achieving gender equality, promoting economic growth, addressing climate change, fostering peace and global citizenship, and creating sustainable and healthy communities. Yet, to achieve these broad goals, questions persist as to which life skills are important, who needs to learn them, how they can be taught, and how they are best measured. This book addresses these questions.

Book Healthy Living Skills Education

Download or read book Healthy Living Skills Education written by and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Serious mental illness often strikes during adolescence, a time of life when individuals typically prepare to navigate society as independent adults. Due to its symptoms and this crucial developmental interruption, people with serious mental illness often experience difficulties with acquiring and developing life skills. They often struggle to maintain financial independence or their physical health suffers as a result of poor diet and medication side effects. Most commonly, they struggle to develop competency in navigating the social demands of life and relationships. This project is a 12-module life skills group to provide support and group interventions regarding three life areas significantly affected by SMI: personal finances, nutrition and social skills. Each area consists of four individual hour-long groups to address more specific aspects. Research regarding the impact of serious mental illness on the development of these skills and factors that led to the selection of particular curriculum are described.

Book Life Skills and Adolescent Mental Health

Download or read book Life Skills and Adolescent Mental Health written by Ole Jacob Madsen and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-05-24 with total page 121 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Can school teach us to master life? This book confronts what the author sees as an ongoing trend in many Western democracies where citizens are increasingly being held accountable for their health and happiness. The author believes that the introduction of life skills in school shows a tendency to place more responsibility on the individual rather than address fundamental societal flaws that really should be solved politically. It examines how such responsibility to psychologically deal with these problems affects our mental health and quality of life. This book questions the fundamentals of the life mastery curriculum where we might be risking the creation of just another arena where children have to perform, challenging readers to evaluate more closely the premises, consequences and limitations of life mastery. The book, one of the first to question ‘life mastery’ as an achievable goal with critical reviews of the 21st century skills movement, will be of interest to psychologists, school counsellors, teachers, students, politicians, and any reader evaluating school curriculums in relation to the decline in youth and adolescent mental health.
