Download or read book Lexan s Pledge written by Hilary Thompson and published by Hilary Thompson. This book was released on 2014-03-09 with total page 85 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Author's Note: this is not a full-length sequel to Justice Buried. It is a short novella telling Lexan's side of the story! There will come three... A child of peace, born in a place of war. A child of right, born in a place of many wrongs. A child of lawfulness, born in a place with no laws. The secrets of Asphodel continue to spill as Lexan tells his side of the story. Lexan has been pretending for so long that he barely remembers why. All he knows is that it's getting harder to be the image of perfection that everyone expects. With Keirna plotting murder, Saloman having visions, and Trea throwing tantrums, Lexan just might be ready to risk his world for the chance at a better one.

Download or read book Micro Injection Moulding written by Cécile Jeggy and published by Presses univ. de Louvain. This book was released on 2004 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Micro-injection moulding is a new process, and as such it has not been thoroughly investigated until now. The peculiarities related to the three dimensional aspect of the cavity and the very small length and time scales at stake make it a very specific technology compared to conventional injection moulding. The aim of this thesis is to pave the way for micro-injection moulding modelling with a special emphasis on micro-cavity filling. Besides giving insight into the process, this work demonstrates the importance of visco-elastic effects and investigates further related issues. The different steps adopted in this work are the following ones: first an extensive review of the process is proposed, followed by a reflection on micro-cavity filling and polymer behaviour which ends up with the choice of the Giesekus model as an appropriate viscoelastic model for some polymers used in this process. A chapter dedicated to polymer characterization conducted on PC Lexan HF11110R, a micro-injection suited amorphous material, shows that the Newtonian viscosity is very low. In this case, the model admissibility from a mathematical and thermodynamic point of view is not guaranteed. This admissibility is the object of a chapter which provides an analysis for the Giesekus model completed with the PC Lexan material parameters. A further mathematical consequence of a vanishing Newtonian viscosity is that the number of inlet boundary conditions to be prescribed for the extra-stress tensor is reduced to 4 instead of 6 in case of a non-vanishing Newtonian viscosity. A specific numerical scheme to tackle this problem is proposed along with a theta-splitting based method which allows us to separate the viscous and visco-elastic effects in the governing equations and to treat subsequently a modified Stokes sub-problem and a transport sub-problem. Finally, a micromixer design and prototyping is presented as an application of this promising process.

Download or read book Fatigue and Tribological Properties of Plastics and Elastomers written by Laurence W. McKeen and published by Butterworth-Heinemann. This book was released on 2009-11-17 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Part of a series of core databooks within the William Andrew Plastics Design Library, Fatigue and Tribological Properties of Plastics and Elastomers provides a comprehensive collection of graphical multipoint data and tabular data covering fatigue and tribology. The concept of fatigue is very straightforward: if an object is subjected to a stress or deformation, and it is repeated, the object becomes weaker. This weakening of plastic material is called fatigue. Tribology is the science and technology of surfaces in contact with each other and therefore covers friction, lubrication and wear. The reduction of wear and fatigue and the improvement of lubrication are key bottom-line issues for engineers and scientists involved in the plastics industry and product design with plastics.Fatigue and Tribological Properties of Plastics and Elastomers, Second Edition is an update of all that has changed in the world of plastics since the 1st edition appeared nearly 15 years ago, and has been reorganized from a polymer chemistry point of view. - A hard-working reference tool: part of the daily workflow of engineers and scientists involved in the plastics industry and product design with plastics - The reduction of wear and fatigue and the improvement of lubrication are key bottom-line issues - The data in this book provide engineers with the tools they need to design for low failure rates
