In Letters From Beyond, a grieving son writes a letter to his deceased mother, in the hopes of hearing back from her. Not only does the mother write back to her son, but through a series of back and forth letters, the mother tells her son about her life story; from 1940s China during the Chinese Civil War, through the 1950s founding of the Republic of China in Taiwan, onto 1960s California during the hippy and counter-culture era, into China in the late 1980s during the Open Door Policy Era, and onto modern day California and Taiwan. Ultimately, Letters From Beyond is an epic story of love and hope in the face of sweeping historical events. Included with Letters From Beyond are additional stories and writing.

But all brought a brightness to his life or challenged him to live more fully in some way. Aware that eternity for any of us is only a step away, Miller has sought to complete the unfinished business of life by writing letters to the great beyond. In this inspiring collection, we hear from a grandparent, a yoga teacher, a young boy, a cheerleader, a famous musician-even a dog. Berit and Beth explain the story of how these individuals came into their awareness as well as the circumstances in which they passed. "A fascinating metaphysical book! As Berit connects with the energy of the discarnate spirit, through her mediumship ability, Beth channels the same soul and through automatic writing, transcribes a letter from the soul to their family and to us. The connection they have is unique and their work is empowering and inspirational." - Garry Gewant, author, medium, and hypnotherapist Explore guidance from the spirit world on how to live a fuller life including: Celebrating Life Living Fearlessly Transcending Grief Connecting with Consciousness Healing from Addictions Surrendering Control Welcoming Change Walking with Mother Earth Loving Our Self Understanding Our Emotions Loving Within The Chaos Unmasking Fear Mentoring The Soul Honoring The Body Sharing Our Space Finding God Becoming Vulnerable Cultivating Faith Expressing Our Differences Trusting Our Heart Explaining Our Mission. Book These Wilds Beyond Our Fences

Download or read book These Wilds Beyond Our Fences written by Bayo Akomolafe and published by North Atlantic Books. This book was released on 2017-11-14 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tackling some of the world’s most profound questions through the intimate lens of fatherhood, Bayo Akomolafe embarks on a journey of discovery as he maps the contours of the spaces between himself and his three-year-old daughter, Alethea. In a narrative that manages to be both intricate and unguarded, he discovers that something as commonplace as becoming a father is a cosmic event of unprecedented proportions. Using this realization as a touchstone, he is led to consider the strangeness of his own soul, contemplate the myths and rituals of modernity, ask questions about food and justice, ponder what it means to be human, evaluate what we can do about climate change, and wonder what our collective yearnings for a better world tell us about ourselves. These Wilds Beyond Our Fences is a passionate attempt to make sense of our disconnection in a world where it is easy to feel untethered and lost. It is a father’s search for meaning, for a place of belonging, and for reassurance that the world will embrace and support our children once we are gone.

Book Between the Lines and Beyond

Download or read book Between the Lines and Beyond written by Guy Carleton Whidden and published by . This book was released on 2009-02-01 with total page 448 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book recounts the author's experiences as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne in World War II through letters written home to his mother. As the title suggests, Guy's censored letters often forced his family to read "between the lines" to figure out the many subtle messages he was sending. Through these letters and Guy's narrative, we relive many of his experiences: Army training and the voyage to England on the S.S. Strathnaver; his historic jumps into Normandy on D-Day and into Holland during Operation Market Garden; and being seriously wounded by a German mortar shell that killed two of his friends nearly causing his own leg to be amputated. These letters show the progression of a young man as he grew in maturity and the resilience of the true and honorable soldier that emerged.

Book Letters to the Sons of Society

Download or read book Letters to the Sons of Society written by Shaka Senghor and published by Convergent Books. This book was released on 2022-01-18 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The New York Times bestselling author of Writing My Wrongs invites men everywhere on a journey of honesty and healing through this book of moving letters to his sons—one whom he is raising and the other whose childhood took place during Senghor's nineteen-year incarceration. “A visceral and visual journey for the ages . . . the perfect road map for us to remove the barriers and obstacles against our true feelings.”—Kenya Barris, creator of black-ish ONE OF THE MOST ANTICIPATED BOOKS OF 2022—Essence Shaka Senghor has lived the life of two fathers. With his first son, Jay, born shortly after Senghor was incarcerated for second-degree murder, he experienced the regret of his own mistakes and the disconnection caused by a society that sees Black lives as disposable. With his second, Sekou, born after Senghor's release, he has experienced healing, transformation, intimacy, and the possibilities of a world where men and boys can openly show one another affection, support, and love. In this collection of beautifully written letters to Jay and Sekou, Senghor traces his journey as a Black man in America and unpacks the toxic and misguided messages about masculinity, mental health, love, and success that boys learn from an early age. He issues a passionate call to all fathers and sons—fathers who don't know how to show their sons love, sons who are navigating a fatherless world, boys who have been forced to grow up before their time—to cultivate positive relationships with other men, seek healing, tend to mental health, grow from pain, and rewrite the story that has been told about them. Letters to the Sons of Society is a soulful examination of the bond between father and sons, and a touchstone for anyone seeking a kinder, more just world.

Book Letters on God and Letters to a Young Woman

Download or read book Letters on God and Letters to a Young Woman written by Rainer Maria Rilke and published by Northwestern University Press. This book was released on 2012-05-31 with total page 89 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rainer Maria Rilke (1875-1926) was an avid letter writer, and more than seven thousand of his letters have survived. The best-known collection today is Rilke's Letters to a Young Poet, first published in 1929. Two other letter collections appeared around the same time and gained high acclaim among readers yet are virtually unknown today. They are Letters to a Young Woman (1930) and Letters on God (1933). With this volume, Annemarie S. Kidder makes available to an English-speaking audience two of the earliest collections of Rilke letters published after his death. The thematic collection On God-- here published in English for the first time--contains two letters by Rilke, the first an actual letter written during World War I, in 1915 in Munich, the second a fictional one composed after the war, in 1922 at Muzot, in Switzerland. In these letters, Rilke builds on the mystical view of God conceived of in The Book of Hours, but he moves beyond it, demonstrating a unique vision of God and Christ, the church and religious experience, friendship and death. The collection Letters to a Young Woman comprises nine of Rilke's letters, written to a young admirer, Lisa Heise, over the course of five years, from 1919 to 1924. Though Rilke and Heise never met, Rilke emerges in these letters as the compassionate listener and patient teacher who with level-headed sensitivity affirms and guides the movements of another person's soul.
