The content regarding Jesus’ time in Egypt will be of interest to Christian scholars, but is not so heavy-handed to turn off those less spiritually inclined. All that is required to enjoy this title is a spirit of adventure and an open mind. -The US Review of Books Before the Ancient Egyptian’s knowledge of the Biblical Genesis, the god Thoth was considered their god of wisdom. 2000 years ago, the Holy family fl ed King Herod’s wrath, and young Jesus spent His formative years on Egypt soil. Book Collected Plays OIP

Download or read book Collected Plays OIP written by Girish Karnad and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2020-09-10 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The troubled reign of a fourteenth-century sultan of Delhi helps dramatize the crisis of secular nationhood in post-Independence India. A twelfth century folktale about ‘transposed heads’ offers a path-breaking model for a quintessentially ‘Indian’ theatre in postcolonial times. The folktale about a woman with a snake lover explores gender relations within marriage. Individual human sexuality meets the historical debate on violence in Indian culture. The plays in this volume span roughly the first half of the career of Girish Karnad, one of India’s pre-eminent playwrights. The three-volume set of Karnad’s Collected Plays brings together English versions of his important works. Each volume contains an extensive introduction by theatre scholar Aparna Bhargava Dharwadker, Professor of English and Interdisciplinary Theatre Studies, University of Wisconsin–Madison. The introductions trace the literary and theatrical evolution of Karnad’s work over six decades and position it in the larger context of modern Indian drama. In addition, they comment on Karnad’s place as author and translator in a multilingual performance culture and the relation of his playwriting to his work in the popular media. Each of these volumes serves as a collector’s item, making Karnad’s works accessible to theatre lovers worldwide.

Book My Son Marshall My Son Eminem

My Son Martial, My Son Eminem is her rebuttal to these widely believed lies-a poignant story of a single mother who wanted the world for her son, only to see herself defamed and shut out when he got it. Debbie Nelson encouraged her talented son to chase success-even when Eminem hijacked her good name in his lyrics and press for "street cred," a movie that ultimately alienated them from each other by the notoriety and bitterness it spawned. In My Son Marshall, My Son Eminem, Debbie Nelson details the real story of Eminem's life from his earliest days in a small town in Missouri and his teenage years in Detroit, to his rise to stardom and very public mom-bashing.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph examines the Iranian and Shia legal debates on technologies of assisted reproduction (including embryo donation and surrogacy) and looks at the regulations and implementation of these technologies in Iran. In particular, it addresses: 1) an analysis of the moral reasoning embedded in the Shia theological legal discourse on reproductive technology and how this tradition interprets assisted reproduction with a particular focus on underlying concepts, structure and principles of kinship; 2) the emergence and development of the relevant legislation, regulations and administrative policies and how this might shape the relationship between civil and religious law in Iran, and 3) the ways in which reproductive technology is used and understood with particular focus on underlying values, local narratives and the resulting societal dynamics. The methodological approach for this research is a combination of extensive ethnography and textual analysis of important academic and religious seminary publications in Iran, from Shia jurisprudence (fiqh) and Persian histories to the analysis of laws and verdicts.
