Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Containing more than 6,000 entries, CRC Standard Mathematical Tables and Formulas, 33rd Edition continues to provide essential formulas, tables, figures and detailed descriptions. The newest edition of this popular series also features many diagrams, group tables, and integrals that are not available online. This edition also incorporates important topics such as max plus algebra, financial options, pseudospectra, and proof methods. Newly updated topics reflecting new results include couple analogues, radar, and significant equations of mathematics. New features of the 33rd edition include: Larger trim size, five new topics, and topics which have been modified to update results Provides practical, ready-to-use information and covers important topics that are unfamiliar to many readers, such as visual proofs and sequences Includes hard-to-find and more complete information than found in the Internet such as table of conformal mappings and integral tables Adds descriptions of new functions: Lambert, prolate spheroidal, and Weierstrass Even though the book has been updated it retains the same successful format of previous editions in that material is still presented in a multi-sectional format.
Download or read book Contributions to Operator Theory in Spaces With an Indefinite Metric written by H. Langer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1998 with total page 440 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is dedicated to Heinz Langer, a leading expert in spectral analysis and its applications, in particular to operators in spaces with an indefinite metric, on the occasion of his 60th birthday. The book begins with his biography and list of publications. It contains a selection of research papers, most of which are devoted to spectral analysis of operators or operator pencils with applications to ordinary and partial differential equations. Other papers deal with time-varying systems, interpolation and factorization problems, and topics from mathematical physics. About half of the papers contain further developments in the theory of operators in spaces with an indefinite metric and treat new applications. The book is of interest to a wide audience of pure and applied mathematicians.
Download or read book Global Aspects of Classical Integrable Systems written by Richard H. Cushman and published by Birkhäuser. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 449 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book gives a complete global geometric description of the motion of the two di mensional hannonic oscillator, the Kepler problem, the Euler top, the spherical pendulum and the Lagrange top. These classical integrable Hamiltonian systems one sees treated in almost every physics book on classical mechanics. So why is this book necessary? The answer is that the standard treatments are not complete. For instance in physics books one cannot see the monodromy in the spherical pendulum from its explicit solution in terms of elliptic functions nor can one read off from the explicit solution the fact that a tennis racket makes a near half twist when it is tossed so as to spin nearly about its intermediate axis. Modem mathematics books on mechanics do not use the symplectic geometric tools they develop to treat the qualitative features of these problems either. One reason for this is that their basic tool for removing symmetries of Hamiltonian systems, called regular reduction, is not general enough to handle removal of the symmetries which occur in the spherical pendulum or in the Lagrange top. For these symmetries one needs singular reduction. Another reason is that the obstructions to making local action angle coordinates global such as monodromy were not known when these works were written.
Download or read book Classical Dynamics A Modern Perspective written by E C George Sudarshan and published by World Scientific Publishing Company. This book was released on 2015-10-08 with total page 612 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Classical dynamics is traditionally treated as an early stage in the development of physics, a stage that has long been superseded by more ambitious theories. Here, in this book, classical dynamics is treated as a subject on its own as well as a research frontier. Incorporating insights gained over the past several decades, the essential principles of classical dynamics are presented, while demonstrating that a number of key results originally considered only in the context of quantum theory and particle physics, have their foundations in classical dynamics.Graduate students in physics and practicing physicists will welcome the present approach to classical dynamics that encompasses systems of particles, free and interacting fields, and coupled systems. Lie groups and Lie algebras are incorporated at a basic level and are used in describing space-time symmetry groups. There is an extensive discussion on constrained systems, Dirac brackets and their geometrical interpretation. The Lie-algebraic description of dynamical systems is discussed in detail, and Poisson brackets are developed as a realization of Lie brackets. Other topics include treatments of classical spin, elementary relativistic systems in the classical context, irreducible realizations of the Galileo and Poincaré groups, and hydrodynamics as a Galilean field theory. Students will also find that this approach that deals with problems of manifest covariance, the no-interaction theorem in Hamiltonian mechanics and the structure of action-at-a-distance theories provides all the essential preparatory groundwork for a passage to quantum field theory. This reprinting of the original text published in 1974 is a testimony to the vitality of the contents that has remained relevant over nearly half a century.
Download or read book Theoretical Foundations of Cosmology written by Micha? Heller and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1992 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book's principal aim is to clarify fundamental concepts, decipher mathematical structures used to model space-time and relativistic worlds, and to disclose their physical meaning. After each chapter, philosophical implications of the presented material are commented upon. Both special and general theories of relativity are presented in the book with the stress on their global aspects. Although global mathematical methods are extensively used throughout the book, the definitions of new concepts, short comments and examples make reading smooth without the need to consult other textbooks or review papers.
